Sounds to me like you're describing the . Chicago took the shoot and it took the officials a while to realize the puck was in the net instead of under the goalie... Game over. There was whistle a couple of seconds after the shot but there was no on-ice indication of a goal.As for games that don't have the benefit of instant replay, then I'd say that if the ref lost sight of the puck, blew the whistle, and signaled "no goal"... then that should stand.

The only thing that would have been better is if Price had then skated to the other end and scored an open netter! As for Eaves, well at least he got a "shot" off and it didn't give the Kitty Cats the win!
-
That's pretty amazing, particularly after watching the recent documentary about the Series on NBC Sports it is pretty obvious that some of those guys really still don't like one another. That series made the Wings/Avs rivalry look like a picnic!

It doesn't make a difference in terms of the actions being illegal. Either way it's a violation of copyright law. The only difference is the venue of redress available to the copyright holder: criminal vs. civil complaint. The reason I mentioned this is that "It's OK to give out copies as long as I don't make money off of it" seems to be the single largest copyright myth on the Internet.

We all often "read things" based on our personal perspectives (or "bias", if you will) and I already said that I interpreted the comment as someone that's been accused of being the person dumping the turd in the copyright punch bowl in the past. Rick, you're free to feel whatever you want... Saying something wasn't a good idea isn't equated with calling it "stupid" and not seeing something coming can also be due to naivety which, again, isn't a form of stupidity.

Believe me, this isn't just an NHL problem. I'm not sure what the problem would be with the NHL's own network, but as Internet viewing becomes more and more popular broadcast rights holders are becoming more and more guarded about allowing things to be streamed by other outlets (even those of the sporting body themselves). For example, IndyCar fans are upset that the CEO of IndyCar has announced due to reservations by NBC Sports Network (sound familiar?)and ABC there will be NO live streaming of IndyCar practice or qualifying as has been available in past years.

I wasn't chastising him, or attempting to lecture anyone on morals (pppst, that ain't my photo in my avatar!), or attempting to argue a legal point as there's nothing really to "argue" about the legality of unauthorized streaming. Perhaps it's matter of perspective as I create copyrighted material that I've seen misappropriated on-line without my permission from time to time and I know that people often get defensive when you ask them to stop the infringement and you're made to be the "bad guy". If Getty were to send me a note to ask that I find another image to use instead of Homer's butt in Mason's face, I'd do so and not be upset about it because I know I wouldn't have much if any ground to stand on. But if the OP isn't blaming the NHL's flexing of their legal muscle as reason the party's been "ruined", then I don't know where you think that he thinks the fault lies instead. He could have said "Sorry guys, but I had to take it down over objections by the NHL" and left it at that. If my post came off as insulting, I can assure you that that wasn't my intent. I'll add my thanks to the OP for making the effort while knowing that you were risking taking one for the team.
-
My response was aimed solely at the "blaming" comment. It's one thing to set up such a site, but another to then complain when the copyright owner steps in and exercises their legal rights. Yes, it's a bummer that it's gone, but its days were numbered from Day 1, and the URL might have accelerated things a bit.

While I confess to having watched a streamed game or two after losing the battle for control of the family TV, I don't "blame" the NHL for anything in the C&D letter. Let's not kid ourselves, unauthorized streaming of copyrighted programming is blatantly illegal. It doesn't matter if it's "for profit" or done as a service for fellow fans. I'm sorry that you no doubt had the daylights scared out of you when you opened the letter, but could you really not see this coming? You registered a domain that screams "Hey, free illegal streaming of Red Wings games over here!!!!" I mean, dude......! It's also not a Crosby-lovin'-Bettman thing. Show me one major sporting body that doesn't defend their broadcasts in such a manner.

"Mission statements" aren't normally written in the present tense... That's more like a "mission accomplished statement".
-
Yes, it is... Though technically theirs is "One Goal" and not "OneGoal".
-
I thought about that too, but TSN showed the last several seconds of the overhead "review" camera with the "official" clock superimposed down in the corner and it showed the "pause" too.
-
Heck, "buddy tape" it and send Howie back out there!
-
Or, it might not even be a "malfunction" or human malfeasance: I've noticed this phenomenon before. There are times when the clock on FSN will appear to briefly hang. However, I've only noticed this happen with more than 1:00 left, so it just appears that it takes a long time before the next second clicks off. I've just assumed that this was due to a "hiccup" between the arena's timing system and the networks. If what the LA GM says it true, then the timing mechanism picked a really bad time for Columbus to "re-sync".

Also, StubHub has a game day ticket location right near the Detroit Opera right on the People Mover line. If there's a problem, StubHub guarantees their tickets and they'd likely have the means to still get you into the game.

Pretty wild... "Events unfolded in Námestovo, Slovakia, after a heavy snow fall that the recently-opened building could not support. At the time of the incident, the young hockey players were being taught by former Florida Panthers right wing, Richard Zednik." While I agree that it's probably advisable to tell your "entertainment" staff to not spray stuff directly into the faces of obnoxious fans (particularly of the visiting team), the dude's reaction was even lamer. On top of that... that "gangsta" T-shirt is hideous.
-
That's awesome.... For a while, I thought it was done by the same guy that did this one (probably still my favorite video):
-
I second "Blood Feud", it's a great read... and I agree that Dater does a good job, and quite frankly many of the Avs don't come off looking too good in his treatment. For example, he points out that Roy is probably the only goalie in the NHL to have trashed a locker room because his team WON the game.
-
I hope they go 5-0, but the fact that they've had 6 days off and we have a history of sucking against teams that suck makes me nervous.

The description could also fit one early theory that the plane was over-weight. Sad, either way.

9/28 Exhibition GDT: Red Wings at Chicago Blackhawks
Gizmo replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I can agree with that assessment. I don't think he intended to clock him, but I don't know what he was thinking. If he was trying to slip past him to get at the puck, why was he leaning in? Also throwing his elbow out after the contact didn't make it look any better either. -
IIRC, the Wings often re-use pre-season jerseys for a couple of seasons, unless there's a major change like when the RBK "Edge" design was introduced in 2008. My guess is that the other teams you've seen are using new stock.

Good job... You made me look!

Wow.... just wow...
