While I agree that it's too early to start trying to sort out the "why", though a crash may be labelled as "pilot error", isn't it safe to say that some aircraft designs are more forgiving of such errors than others?

I sat on a jury in a medical malpractice case that involved a scaphoid fracture. In this case the ER Doc missed the non-displaced fracture on the x-ray and diagnosed him with a wrist sprain, the radiologist caught it on the "over-read" the next day, but the hospital didn't contact the guy to tell him his hand was broken. After several weeks his "sprain" wasn't any better. He had it re-X-rayed and the break was found. By that time the bone had become slightly displaced and required the same surgery you had. We were told that in about 10% of these cases they fail to heal. In the case of the guy suing, the surgery failed and he ended up have to have his wrist fused to eliminate the pain. He was training to be a union electrician at the time and had to quit the apprentice program due to the pain and lose of hand mobility. Depending on how Kane's hand heals, it could impact his career. BTW, the most common cause of scaphoid fractures is a hyper-extending of the wrist backwards due to something like trying to catch yourself during a fall. Rollerblading and ice skating are two of the most common causes of these fractures. After the trial I started wearing my hockey gloves to open skates!

I hope not... We really NEED Blashill here in Kalamazoo. In just one season he managed to bring life back to a Broncos program that was clearly risking being taken behind the barn and shot!

I totally agree on the need for a wider concourse. In 2006 we went to the Verizon Center to see the Caps and the wide concourse was awesome. I'd also like some more leg room between seating rows so I don't have to constantly worry about kneeing the people in front of me and it's almost impossible to have people pass in front of you to get to their seats, but I understand that the "upside" is that you're closing to the ice.

It was a heck of a series, and I must say that this is the first year in recent memory that I'm not totally upset that the Wings are out. You're right, every game could have gone either way. There was no shame in losing that series. They were two very well matched teams. It was a historic series. Seven games, 2 OTs, 6 games won by 1 goal, and a goal differential of 0.

One of the things that I noticed on the initial replay was that Pavel's left foot, as his leg was hit/pushed from behind, was rotated so it was flat sideways against the boards. I'm unusual in that I can rotate my feet 90 degrees to the outside while my legs are straight. Most people's feet cannot rotate like ballerinas. If you look, he also looks down at his foot right after the hit. I wonder if it's an ankle or knee problem due to over-rotation of his foot.

My older son and I went to the Western Michigan vs. Ferris State CCHA playoff hockey game last night. During an intermission, I noticed probably the smallest Zamboni rider I've seen at Lawson Arena. Talking to a co-worker, I now know how Gideon got his Zamboni ride. His five year-old brother was asked by Western if he wanted the ride, and it was a something that he's been dreaming about for some time... but at the last minute he opted to give the chance away to his younger brother who suffers from leukemia and is going though chemotherapy.
