Good... it's annoying as all get out. As pointed out, it serves zero purpose as the players aren't going to look at you. I hate it even more when the morons sitting in front of the glass with the ambient sound TV mics tape to them decides to bang on that glass and I get to hear a loud "bang, bang, bang" coming out of my TV set. I also agree that the people standing up and waving at The Joe should have a potato cannon fired at their heads! Memo to these people: You look stupid. If you're that desperate to get on TV, buy a ticket on the glass... and don't bang on it!

We also still have Cameron Frye:

If you have the NHL channel, check out this game! Two fights in the first two minutes (the first at the puck drop)... and Hartnell got drilled into the corner. It's going to be a LOOOOONG night for the refs!

Now 7! Philly needs to break out the Euchre deck!

Pitts just went from 5-3 to 3-3!!!

Unfreaking believable!!!

I saw live segments from that game on NHL On The Fly and couldn't believe how empty sections near the glass were. It was a ghost town.

Kenneth Rucker, a.k.a. "Orange Hat Guy", passed away
Gizmo replied to redwingcapt's topic in General
That's a real bummer... he seemed like a real nice guy. I never talked to him, but I did pass him in the Concourse a couple of time and I'd smile and say "Hello", and he'd return the favor. -

Good one, but I still like "The Tater!"

We exceeded pretty much every expectation for a 1st year club. They won about 2/3 of their games. Won the division, but lost in the first round of the playoffs. The on-ice product was much improved over the "IHL".

Nice video... You have no idea how glad I am that the K-Wings bolted for the ECHL when it was clear that the "IHL" was circling the porcelain. I hope the locals support your new team. I agree that young and hungry beats "next stop... the beer leagues" hockey!

This morning I got a message from my daughter who is a 2nd year student at Michigan Tech. She's taking a hockey class for a PE credit this semester. Today, the rink manager decided to be nice and resurface the ice half way through their class. As they waited on the bench, the rink manager stopped the Zamboni in front of the class and said "Hey, did you know the Stanley Cup is up there." and pointed to the lobby. Apparently, the guy that does video breakdown work for Chicago is from Hancock and it was "his day" with The Cup. My daughter's teacher then told the class that if they wanted to they could take their skates off and run up to see the trophy.. which they eagerly did!!! She was thrilled that she was allowed to touch it!

Hmmm, there's a chance lightning may strike in my family two days in a row! We live near Kalamazoo and last night our older son (a HS Junior) got an e-mail from his hockey coach. It instructed the team to show up today at a location at our airport at 5 PM sharp. The players are to be in suits & ties, and bring their hockey gloves and sticks. The purpose of the event is to meet a "Special Guest". No other details were given. I also happen to know that the coach's wife is from Hancock, where the guy traveling with the cup yesterday is from. Hmmmmmm, would it be!?!?!? We'll see later today!

Red, good one! I just texted her that.

So, is the last "news" item on everyone else's Wings app stuck on August 11th??? Come on Wings... just when I thought you guys were getting your high tech act together.
-
The last time I used a pre-sale code, I found out that I could have gotten better seats if I'd waited for the general public sale. They only release certain seats in the pre-sale, and they aren't necessarily the best ones in each price category.

Forgive me if this is old news, but I searched on the topic here and Googled it and didn't see anything on the topic posted lately... So what's the latest on the where the Wings will be playing next season? Last I read talks were "continuing" between Detroit and Olympia. Ilitch a few months ago said he "thought" they'd be back at The Joe... but I haven't heard a peep since then. I've been busy this summer and haven't kept fully abreast of all the Wings news. What's the latest???

I think this ruling will have little bearing on the relationship between member teams and the NHL. The core of this case was about the NFL, arguing that it was a single legal entity, interfering with existing contractual relationships with individual teams in an effort to "collude" and grant exclusive single vendor contracts with the consumer, arguably, being the looser. Here's a good summary from SI that points out the narrow scope of the case: What would have been a bombshell is if, as player's unions feared, the Court had sided with the NFL and granted them Section 1 exemption. This would have emboldened them to impose new labor conditions as the article points out. Since the court sided against the NFL, that's an endorsement of the "status quo" for the legal status of the NFL in terms if their antitrust limits. In another words, the SCOTUS said that the Sherman Act still applies to them in areas not already exempted by Congress. As for the Ranger's website complaint, I doubt that'll come into play. That's more along the lines of a legal relationship between a franchisee and the parent organization. I doubt that this ruling would block McDonald's HQ from prohibiting a local franchise owner from running their own marketing campaigns if they so chose.
