How does that square with Holland's earlier comment about wanting to dump a D-man before the start of the next season??? Concussions can be very, very, nasty. A neighbor of ours slipped on ice in a parking lot and hit his head on the asphalt. It took him about two years for most of the neurological damage to heal. For about 8 months his short term memory was severely limited.

Nuts!!!
-
I agreed with others that he was a decent guy...

More details from The DesMoines Register Basically they borrowed $2M back in 2008 from Wachovia to cover operating losses and used the franchise as collateral. The suspension could be lifted if the club is sold to new owners, but an Iowa judge has issued an injunction barring a move... which makes that a lot harder.
-
Ah, nuts.... Probably the 2nd to last team I'd want to see him go to (behind the Pens). Oh well. The same was said when Shanny left... and we did OK.
-
I agree that it's probably the WC. Seeing them roar back and down the Hawks in front of the home crowd was priceless.
-
Is that you in the background???
-
Funny, I checked and I have a photo I took of our kids outside in the line and you two are in the background. If you want to, I can post a copy of it. Here's Kris looking at the banner:
-
My family and I had a great time driving over from Kalamazoo. We were about 30th in line when we arrived around 10:40. During the wait I won a floor hockey stick in the drawing they had. Kris signed about 3 items for each of us. We had 3 pucks, about 3 photos, a couple of hockey cards, a couple of hats, and one of the large street banners with Draper's face on it. It was funny when he unfurled the banner to sign it he saw a larger then life copy of his head and went "Woah! That's pretty scary!"

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
Gizmo replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Agreed... I'm not getting a warm fuzzy in the thought of Howard in place of Conklin. -
Hey, if they can make "retro" work for ballparks, then why not hockey barns?!?!?
-
I'm guessing that there's some major unseen backscratching going on here. Oly helps the city with its Cobo problem by not renewing the lease, but I'm guessing that Oly's going to get a yet unannounced major "consideration" regarding a remodeled JLA or something that's about to be put on a plot of land over in the Fox/Ford/Comerica "entertainment district".
-
Wow... Color me shocked! The lease they're walking away from was deemed the most lucrative in pro-sports.
-
Agreed... He could have responded the way others have in the past and accused Lids of "milking it".
-
I'm no expert, but I haven't been impressed with Howard during his starts with the Wings. I think the pairing of Conklin and Osgood worked great this season.
-
I'll miss Cheli, but I agree with Kenny... It's time to say "farewell". I loved it when he acted like an old wily dog on the ice and put a newbie to shame. I think it was Tootoo a couple years ago that tried to run Chelios and Cheli without looking side-stepped at the last second and Tootoo(?) ended up boarding himself. The announcer laughed and said "I think Chelios has seen that attempted hit a couple of times before!"
-
I remember Mickey Redmond saying on the air after that that Dom owed Lidstrom a steak dinner for that one!
-
Sounds to me then like you might have an "older" pre-puck logo replica jersey.
-
No, the puck logo was a not-too-long-ago addition and were only added to the cheaper "replica" jerseys instead of the heavier-weighted, fight-strapped, reinforced elbow "authentic" jerseys. I don't know exactly when the puck logo was added, but I'm guessing that it was not long before the lock-out or just after it.
-
Yeah, anytime the Wings' season ends with anything less than a Cup, it's usually a good idea to take a two week LGW vacation while all of the blaming and other meaningless craziness goes on here and then dies down.
-
Me thinks the Wings fans back in 1942, when the team was up 3-0 and then lost the next four games, would beg to differ.
-
"It was one hell of a ride.... Thanks guys!!!"
-
Agreed... Mistakes were made by others in the other losses too. It's a team effort. It's very unfair to pile on Stuart.

Dats was about the flattest I've seen him out there tonight. It looks like they were able to put Humpty-Dumpty back together again for Game 5, but whatever they did seemed to lose its effectiveness.
