He has been in the KHL for so long. It is a different game and takes time to get used to the NHL level. I mean look at Hudler, took him over a year to get back to a passable NHL player. So I was curious to see how the 2011 Playoffs would have looked if the league was in their future realignment phase. Here is what I found: Really not many differences as far as teams that made it. Only the LA Kings were left out of the playoffs under realignment and the Stars made it in. It's interesting to see that there isn't that much of a change from teams that made it in. Discuss.

I've been hearing that Holland is looking to deal Stuart. Not sure how I feel about that, but we'll see if that turns into anything.

When this team loses they really lose. Haha. Well the wings thoroughly sucked. But it happens, looks like everyone was on the all star break already. Not sure why so many people are freaking out saying this team isn't any good. Didn't the Wings lose something like 6 in a row in '08? This was just 1 loss. Big deal.

Ya I have to agree with you there, haha Winter Classic is cool, but 24/7 is honestly the best thing to happen to hockey. I even enjoyed watching it when the stupid Penguins were on it, and that's saying something. From what I heard U of M needs to acquire a waiver in order to be able to legally sell alcohol at the game, I'm sure they would be able to get a temporary one for the occasion.

I was at the game and I saw absolutely no reason for there to be a time out in that position. I mean come on, you are up 5-1. I see no need at 4-2. Overall, I picked a terrible game to go to for my one Red Wing game of the year. They were playing well at time and had some near goals in the first period, but it seems like they were just tired and were not back checking and playing defense at all. They left Conklin out to dry and I am still having nightmares of that Islanders goal horn going off over and over and over again.

Will be at the game tonight, bummed Datsyuk and Howard aren't playing. However, its going to be a good game with a big Wings Win! Lets Go Wings. Last time I was in Uniondale the wings lost 6-0 so lets try to erase that nightmare from 2 years ago.

I second this! I haven't read through this whole thread, but has anyone else mentioned what the NBC Sports announcers said? Nyquist's father was over on a foreign exchange program and played hockey with Abdelkader's father in high school! Who would have thought!? On a side note Nyquist looked good, Filp and Z looked awesome, and good for Huds for finishing what he had.

Would be awesome, believe it or not, I think the Wings could take Boston in a best of 7. When we played them in November I don't think they are able to play their typical game against us and it throws them off. Its an interesting post and I would seem to think that it would be 'somewhat' close at the end of the season, meaning out of the top 6 teams that were picked at least one of them will be in the SCF. But we shall see.

Yes, this is true, however, if you look at it from just a point totals view. It is a good way to see what how it differs from our current set up. Point totals will be 'different' all across the league. However, what this shows is that teams that made the playoffs under the old format, are still most likely going to make it under the new format, contingent of Conference strength and what not.

I don't understand the two conferences of 8 and two of 7. This just gives the teams in the two "Eastern" Conferences a better shot at making the playoffs each year. Why don't they just have two conferences always pair up in the playoffs and do 1 v 8. I'm not sure how I feel about this realignment. I wanted the Wings in the East, but I'm not sure if this is what I wanted. It sounds like a good alignment plan in place if the 'Yotes move in the next couple years though. It would be a lot simpler to just plug them into any conference except the Central.
