    Keith Tkachuk

He is making almost that much NOW. He will double that easily if he continues with the great season he is having and has a good playoff. Its not that hard to figure out. Quite a few guys with lesser stats and not all that much playoff success are getting $4-5-6 million dollars a season. There is no reason to think that Manny wont get atleast 1 big offer this offseason. GM's lose their minds when it comes to signing goalies. Manny is the best UFA goalie on the market this offseason. It doesnt take a math major to figure this out. $1.5 million, AT BEST? LOL

    What you think?

Need more centermen? Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lang, Draper, Yzerman, Williams, Hudler, Grigs. Even taking Yzerman out, thats 7 good centermen either here already or on the horizon.

Legace will stay in Detroit if they give him a nice contract. Like I said before, Legace is no spring chicken. This offseason will be his 1 and ONLY chance to sign a big money type of contract. The big retirement contract that all players look for when they are Legace's age. And somebody, quite possibly Toronto, will give him more money. I am sure Legace is loyal and loves playing for Detroit. But he isnt one of those players who has made millions upon millions over the past 5-6 years. He wil follow the money.

If Legace continues at this pace and has a solid playoff run, I guarantee he gets a big contract. I dont mean Turco style at around $5-6 mill. But he will get atleast 1 team that will come at him hard. Goalies are the hot commodity right now and teams are overpaying big time to get them or keep them (Nabokov and Kolzig come to mind). Legace will get a big, big raise after this year. And Samuelsson will get about $1.5-2.0 mill also if he scores 30 goals. And thats a big raise from where he is now. He will be a hot commodity as well.

Legace +500K??? Not a chance. The goaltender market is terribly small now that Turco and Nabakov have already re-upped with thier teams. Legace, numbers wise, is at the TOP of the NHL right now. If he puts together a decent Cup run there will a few teams that will throw big dollars at him. You can bet on it. Janet Jones would. LOL Also, if Samuelsson gets 30+ goals, I would expect a bigger raise than 750K. Much bigger. I think you are underestimating a number of guys on that list, financially speaking.

Tkachuk has a no trade clause. And from what I have heard, he wants to stay in StLouis. Also, the only way the Wings CAN make this deal is if Robert Lang goes the other way. Tkachuks cap hit next year is over $5 mill. NO THANKS! And the Blues are looking to dump salary, not swap Tkachuks $ for Langs $. Its a no-go from all aspects.

    Detroit interested in Giguere?

Legace may not be at the level of Giguere just yet. But Giguere isnt that far ahead of him either. Other than his 1 cup run, Giggy has been your run of the mill starting goalie in the NHL. Nothing special, IMO. I honestly dont think he would be an upgrade over Legace at this point. I dont like the idea of Keith Carney. But I have always been a Ruslan Salei fan. I wonder what it would take to bring him in?

TSN Backchecking: Wings interested in Carney

I am in the Salei camp as well. Carney is 36 and, while solid, has done nothing over the years to really make me want to have him on the Wings. I dont really think either guy is all that important to add, especailly if Kronwall keeps getting better and Lilja continues his recent solid play. I know alot of people do not have alot of faith in him, but since Fischer's injury Lilja has really been pretty solid. Lidstrom, Schneider, Chelios, Kronwall, Lilja, Lebda/Woolley is a pretty good group of D to have going into the playoffs. Not many teams can put this type of group out there. I am more interested in adding another tough winger, more than I am a defensman.

    Dallas Drake

I disagree with all of you, pretty much. I think Dallas Drake would be a great addition to this team. But...I wouldnt want to trade much of anything to bring him in. If we can get him for a 4th rounder or so, then I say do it. But if the Blues are expecting a higher draft pick or a Hudler/Filpulla type of prospect, they can move on. I think Drake is Cleary but with more offensive prowess. You wont find many guys in the NHL who work harder than Dallas Drake.
