See...marry her while you can, good "hockey-wives" are few and far between. Although my wife to this day refuses to come watch ME play because she doesn't "Want to see me make a fool of myself"
-
Can you imagine the beating those guys' blades took skating on that ice surface???

Be patient HR40, you will find the right guy. My wife knew nothing of hockey when we started dating, but she was very patient with me when it was playoff time. next thing ya know, she's watching games, and really, I mean really getting into them ( mostly because she thought Fedorov was hot, ). In the span of a year, she became a huge Wings fan, so I married her.

You have to admit though, a LOT more promise than the Lions, and not to totally derail this thread, but with the Nashville market booming these days, why do you guys NOT have a baseball team? (MLB, that is..)

Yes you could here the Ozzie chants, the really cool thing, was the MASSIVE congrats Schneider gave him after the save, you could just tell it meant ALOT! PS- so you were right yesterday afternoon, your Dad DID have tickets, that's cool, you got to see a great game!
-
Well I will keep my fingers crossed that you get to go HC! I'm hoping for a very chippy agressive game from all the Griffin boys! I'll have to make sure i'm here in the forum tto though, apparently I missed some historic Ozzie bashing on Sunday!

All good points...I don't see what all the fuss is about anyway, it's been what? A week since the trade deadline? Nothing has been proven/dis-proven yet. When the cup is presented we will see who made out best. Hell Montreal did nothing, maybe THEY will win the cup, crazier things have happened. If I were a Preds fan I would be quite stoked about having Forsberg. I have been stoked about the Wings getting MANY players over the years, some have been awesome (Shanny), so have not (Krupp, Hatcher...) It's all part of being a sports fan. Good luck tonight Legionnare, (although I desperately hope you lose! )

So is the general consensus that these are more precautionary than true injuries??

Sergei was my funniest Wing encounter, my coolest one was in September of 98, my wife and I were staying at Grand Traverse resort for our anniversary. We came back from dinner that night, and there are all kinds of SUV's and limos in front of the main lobby. We walk in, and I see the WINGS, all of them..the WHOLE STINKIN' TEAM!! I was freaking out, my wife told me to take a deep breath. I had my Wings jersey on at the time, and right then and there I got Aaron Ward, Kirk Maltby, Norm Maracle, and Mike Knuble all to sign my jersey. The next morning, i just happened to pass the CAPTAIN in the hotel resturant after breakfast, he was so very cool about signing my jersey as well, I felt like I was a 5 year old kid when I met him!

I sure do, it was the liter sized bottle of Absolut! The cashier and I were joking about the little braided beads in his hair after he left.

So is it safe to say this is legitimately Bootland's last real shot to show any type of worth at all?

I found an old archived one at the library: "The Greatest Trade in Red Wings History" by Jaques Demers

Of course it counts!

In 1992 I was in line at a Rite-Aid in West Bloomfield buying some stuff and the guy in front of me was in the process of buying the biggest bottle of Vodka I had ever seen. When he turned to leave I realized it was Sergei Fedorov!

Sounds to me like that was quite a classy move on your part I hope the lady in front of both of you acknowledged that, I would have done the same thing! A rowdy fan story i have is actually a good one. The first time I ever took my son to a Wings game he was 4. At 4 years old he was only interested in two things, seeing Shanahan (because his name was fun to say! ), and the Zamboni. There were two young guys sitting behind us , drinking quite heavily, and I was a little concerned at what my son might hear. At the 1st intermission I took my son to get one of those Hot Wheels sized Zambonis for a souvenir. When we got back to our seats ( in the middle of a power play no less ) , my son hops on his seat and shows the two drunk kids his zamboni and announces this is his 1st ever hockey game. These guys just start laughing, and told me my son was one of the coolest little guys they'd ever seen, and spent the rest of the game talking to HIM! It was a blast , and we couldn't have had a better time. Sometimes even drunk fans can be cool!
