Who are these Penguins you speak of? (kidding/kidding!) I think it's great having Pens fans on the boards, especially with 3 more days to go until Game 1. Otherwise it would be nothing but Wings in 5, Wings in 6, Ozzie Rules, Zetterberg Rules, when is Franzen gonna play? You guys help keep it from getting quite stale! ps- And yes, we have dorks on the boards , but i just ignore them like I do my wife when the Wings are playing!

Speaking of Major Networks, and the playoffs in general, since the semi-finals you have had almost ALL big market teams going at it in the playoffs, Wings, Pens, Avs, Flyers, NYR, Stars, etc... because of the lack of Anaheims, Calgary, Carolina, et al, does anyone know, or have they heard, are ratings up this year? I would think they would have to be...at least a little bit...

I was going to suggest a drinking game, for every time they mention Crosby's name during the Stanley Cup. But then I realized anyone who played would be DEAD from alcohol poisoning by the 9:50 mark of the 1st period in Game 1.

Radio, definitely i can see it boosting ratings, people spending time outdoors, car etc. And I have no problem with an afternoon game for the most part, but the time 1;30 is ridiculous, if NBC has a major event scheduled at 3 or 4, then put the game back to versus, with a 3 Pm start, so more people can watch. I would imagine Stars fans have to be annoyed too, because the game starts at 12:30 for them.

Ahhhhh yes, just a another reason the NHL will never be more than a "niche" sport as long as Bettman is in charge. Common sense would dictate that in a possible clinching game, you could gain a LOT, LOT more viewers on a Friday, or Saturday night. Where people would have parties, go to bars, stay home with a 6-pack, etc.... But Noooooooooo, the NHL in it's INFINITE wisdom thinks it it would be SO MUCH BETTER, to show the game at 1:30 on a Saturday, in May, when people run errands, do yard work, household repairs, wash their cars, go to the park with the kids...etc...(and of course the game COULD be pre-empted by a horse race). Briliance, NHL, sheer brilliance. Kudos!

I agree that HAS TO, ABSOLUTELY HAS TO, be made into a t-shirt. Matt needs to have MULE hats made up, then I can wear the "octopus" shirt underneath a Franzen jersey, with a mule hat, every game day!

I would also prefer Colorado for two reasons you didn't mention ( I agree with the 3 you listed though...) The other two reasons: 1. Colorado is less travel for the Wings. 2. The away games won't be AS late for us OLD Eastern Time Zone folks!

I pointed this out in another thread but since 1991 the Wings have only advanced past the 2nd round a total of 6 times. This is a "success rate" (if you want to call it that, of 35%). I could care less, and I mean it, seriously could care less, about any regular season title the NHL has to offer. If the Wings earned the 8th seed every single year, but managed to make the WCF's or SCF's 50-60% of those years, wouldn't that mean a hell of a lot more? I realize holland has not been GM since 91, but there have been no less than 7 exits by the 2nd round since he has been.....

Is that true? Huet could have been had for a 2nd round pick????

That's a great point Hank! I am not giving up on the Wings, or Hasek or anyone, I DO think it will take 7 games now though. Last night was not all Hasek's fault, if anyone watched the last 8 minutes of that game, it was clear to me the Wings almost, flat-out panicked. They were sloppy, undisciplined, and utterly un-coordinated. At times it looked like they could have 10 guys on the ice and STILL not scored. The only reason I view this series as frustrating is because I have to admit over the years I've become a bit "jaded" when it comes to the Wings in the playoffs. The Wings have made the playoffs every year since 1991. In those 18 years, only 6 times (95,96,97,98,02 & 07) have the Wings made it past the 2nd round. That's only 35% of the time you can count the RedWings even making it to the WCF's at the LEAST. I love Wings hockey, and will always root for them to do well, ALWAYS. But when we struggle in the 1st round, year in and year out, I do not bemoan ANY Wings fan for complaining, griping, or even getting down right P.O.'d. 'Tis the nature of Wings fan to partially lose their mind this time of year!

Okay, based on what a "stand up guy" and "character" player TooToo is, why on EARTH would anyone lose sleep over ANYTHING this guy has to say?
