Sergei had a great point though...the difference this year is that the younger players will have great deal more cinfidence heading into the playoffs....

This is true, you didn't say that, I think maybe it just came across that way. I think that may have been CSdan's point as well. The best example I can use is that I am also a football fan, as well as hockey, and I think the "black hole" fans that attend Raider games need to seriously get a life, BUT I don't begrudge them for rooting for their team ( even though they suck almost as bad as the Lions...) It pisses me off when I hear fans in other arenas chant "Osgood, Osgood..." but I get it, they're being fans and trying to get under the other teams/players skin...it's what we do as fans. So if you're simply stating that you hate the Avs , fair enough, I do too !! ( along with the Maple Loafs, Sharks, and the Anaheim Mighty Sucks! )

GMR, gotta back CSdan up on this one. I loathe the Avalanche, but their fans have passion and root for their team. I despise the Maple Loafs, but their fans are near fanatical. How can you diss someone for being passionate about their hometown team??? That IS classless, I have family in Colorado and have worn a Red Wings shirt their many times only to have people say, "The Wings, SUCK, dude!!" to which I just smile and say "Fair enough...". I do not wish serious injury on any player no matter WHAT team he plays for. Because karma is truly a *****, and some NHL fan SOMEWHERE is rooting for an injury to a Wings player. So in CSdan's case , I agree, show a little class........

I am totally with OsGOD on this one. I also have about a 1/2 hour drive from the Joe, but I have not been to a game in over two years, reason: It is just not in the budget. My son is a HUGE football fan, and I haven't been to a Lions game in 4 years for the exact same reason. Could I squeak it into the budget? Oh sure, but there is just so much more I could spend my hard earned money on. This is NOT to say that I am NOT a fan, I think I've only missed 3 games on TV all year ( whether it be live or on TiVo ). But because of gas, parking, etc... it is much less stressful to stay home with a 6 pack and some hot wings and watch the game on TV. Also....Illitch really needs to get a clue with the "cheap seats" and concessions at the Joe. My son and I went to 4 Tigers games this past year, and hmmm, go figure, I had VERY decent seats, bought drinks , and hot dogs and a SMALL souvenir for the kid, and STILL managed to come home with a few $$$ in my pocket.....
