    Red Wings Round 2 MVP

Congrats to the wings for a very successful postseason appearence so far. I'm very impressed so far and I can honestly say I havent been this excited for years. The drive and energy seems much greater than recent past post-seasons. Before creating this thread I went back a couple of pages to see what Round 1 MVP discussion looked like. And while browsing through all the threads I found a couple of ...interesting threads. Seems like there was a lot of sceptic and pessimistic posters here who didn't even think the wings would make it past the first round. I just hope they eat their crows now and hold there negative comments for themselves in the future. I was going to post some quotes but I decided not to. Lets leave this thread for a round 2 discussion Round 2 MVP Det 4 - Avs 0 Who had seriously predicted a sweep? Not me. I thought it would be an even series - taken to 6 or maybe even 7 games. The avs were a total failure and dissapointment. But the wings should have a lot of credits - they played like a team on a mission for the cup. My pick for the round 2 MVP is Johan Franzen. Everytime he scores I'm like did franzen just score again? I just can't believe how hot he is right now and that he's NOT SLOWING DOWN but rather if it is possible getting even hotter. He had 2 hat-tricks in 4 games. Breaking a NHL record for most goals in a series ever and the wings franchise record for most goals in a series. And it's just been 10 games so far. He's big and strong with alot of skills. Going in deep and working in the crease. If he use his body more and gets a bit dirty he'll be one of the more fearsome players in the nhl. HM Datsuyk & Z Your pick/picks for round 2 MVP? And what are your thoughts of round 2? GO WINGS!

Pretty much the same chance? You can't turn down the fact that those are some of the best players in the world and are all impact players. I know the format makes it more open for underdogs to win but I just can't see it happen to anyone other than Can / Rus (and maybe usa fin ). Sweden has lost 11 of their last 18 games (against lousy opponents) and has been terrible the whole year and in the pre-tournament games also - losing big to usa and barely winning against latvia. Maybe I'm dismissing them a bit too fast - we'll see..

GDT: 5/2 - Dallas Stars @ San Jose Sharks

I didn't watch the game but i watched the highlights and for me it seemed like Dallas totally owned that game. San jose had almost no hightlights from the first 2 periods. And 2 disallowed goals? wow. Anyway for you guys who watched the game - did SJ deserv this win? Was dallas the better team and got burned from those disallowed goals?

    World Championships thread

I'm usually very excited for this (It's usually bigger than stanley cup playoffs in sweden - lots of casual fans tune in - it's tradition). But this year about 20 swedish nhl players turned down the offer to play in tre kronor - mostly cause of injury issues. I have zero expectations for Tre Kronor and I can honestly say this is the worst team we've had for as long as I can remember. We have nicklas backstrom (wsh) and anton stralman (tor) but that's about it. We don't even have the best players from SEL. Only one player from the champion team from SEL this year and it is goalie Stefan Liv. At the same time I see Canada with Spezza Getzlaf Heatly Doan ETC. Russia with Ovechkin Kovalchuk Fedorov Markov ETC. Usa with Kane Mueller Parise ETC. Fin with Selanne Olli/Jussi.Jokinen T.Ruutu M.Koivu ETC. Impossible task for sweden this year! But wow are the teams stacked this year or what? Battle between Russia and Canada imo.

    Chelios OR Lilja

I dunno. I want the same Lilja we had last years playoffs.. Don't you guys think it's possible to get him back? I can't really remember but did it take a couple of playoff games last year before he stepped up? If you try to forget certain turnovers he really stepped it up in the postseason last year I want the pain train!!

Where the hell does Forsberg get off.....

yes i have and i've seen alot of people got it as well. it happens to every hockeyplayer now and then. yes it does hurt a bit but i have never seen a person react the way sammy did with his whole body like that for me it looks like he was selling it. but that's just me..

Where the hell does Forsberg get off.....

he sold that pretty good if you ask me: look at 00:39 - 00:41 not to defend what forsberg was saying but sammy is a *****. look at his reaction ffs. does anyone see the resemblence of a certain avery-jagr incident? (not saying this is as bad) the way he jumps and twist with his whole body just makes it look so .........unnatural.

    Peter Forsberg

i can't believe you say that forsberg isn't a difference maker. especially in this situation when they are down 0-2 without him in the lineup.

Franzen is now the Leader in Playoff Goals

yeah seriously. teams would kill to have a power forward like franzen! they are so rare nowadays.. and he hasn't even hit his prime yet (hopefully ) .. it's crazy. i sure hope the wings lock him up for a long time

Franzen is now the Leader in Playoff Goals

    i still can't believe it! .. but it's GREAT!

    Peter Forsberg

yes he is still very good and makes a big difference even if he's not making great plays he sure draws alot of attention and makes space to other players. imo if avs is going to turn this series around forsberg must show up. otherwise its a sweep. gg no re

WCSF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 5, Avalanche 1

yeah i'm saying that too. forsberg and wolski they need forsberg if they're going to turn this series around.. don't you agree? it's of course hard to say but at this point i have to say that the only was they're going to turn this series is if he is back strong. it would be interesting to see his stats against the wings in playoffs.. he's been amazing against the wings :S
