Yeah but Sundin had been captain in practically every international tournament he participated in. He's been a great leader in every tournament and has been the obvious choice for tre kronor. Now that he is gone, Lidstrom is the obvious one Also, Lidstrom wasnt very well known in Sweden before 2006. He is one of the most underrated sportsmen in the history of Sweden. For such a small country, we don't produce many top players in any sport. Those we do produce gets ROYAL treatment and coverage. For a guy like Lidstrom to be completely neglected has really been frustrating to me.

For me Lidstrom is pretty much a lock as captain. With all the red wings players in the team it's just natural. It's not crazy to suggest Alfredsson but I really doubt anyone other than lids gets the C for obvious reasons. No one has as much playoff experience and achievments as him. It's not even close

Regarding ref vs team doctors.. I think a paramedic has more experience with these kind of emergency situations than a team doctor so maybe he took control and made some fast decisions. Also, he was there first and just a couple of seconds might have a significance in these kind of situations. Good story, happy to hear everything went ok. Would be just horrible if he didnt make it..

Agreed.. Nylander probably have alot to teach them young players in griff. Being around a guy like Nyl should help them both on the ice and off. Should be good for their development. I just hope that he does not teach them how to negotiate with contracts, in that case the wings future is screwed

I don't know.. Maybe a first round vs the sharks like that would force and trigger the team to step it up even faster/better. I also think the sharks would s*** themselves if they faced a #8 seed wings. Especially thornton, he would probably fake a injury before the playoffs

Hmm.. I honestly don't think they would do that. Crosby is their new lemiuex and they won't let him go for anything. He captained their team to a cup last year and they are playing great hockey this season also, tied for #1 in their division with 43 points. I'm not sure how the cap issues would be in Pittsburgh in a trade like that either but I'm pretty sure they will have to get rid of some player(s) also.. Their team would lose their identity and it would just be a messed up trade lol Am I crazy for thinking that?

These injuries are ruining the season ffs. If we can just squeek into playoffs, everything will be fine.. i don't care what seed, JUST GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS. Well there, we will pwn with whatever roster is availible. Osgood and Franzen will transorm into playoff animals as usual. As we noticed last season we went into the playoffs with no momentum and horrible play by osgood and the whole team. People were discussing on these boards whether or not the wings would step it up in the playoffs. Guess what? Osgood and the whole team was able to turn it on BIG TIME when the playoffs start. This season we lost a couple of guys but I believe they who are left still have the "switch" in them. I just wish they can turn it on in time..

entertaining game nonetheless. third period was great alot of good things in this game as well as some alarming things, datsyuks play. as haroldsnepts mentioned earlier in this thread, datsyuk seem to lack a bit of jump. i think it really stuck out sometimes today, for example when he was behind the net with the puck after a devil player cross checked holmstrom from behind and wings had a powerplay waiting, he stand with the puck behind the net and was just slow, made some weird deke and a devil just took the puck from him when he stood there.. thats one incident i noticed when he just seem to lack energy

i also believe crosby will win the art ross. i don't wish him to win it but im realistic of the people in the top 10 i would like to see gaborik win it. i like the rangers

I actually hesitated to visit this site today after the loss against oilers, just because i expected panic and whine threads all over the site so to see this thread made me a bit happy

good post, agree with everything i do think his blast from the blue line will come as the season progress. with the team struggling and all the injuries, lidstrom might feel like he has a heavy load to carry and therefore can't play with the focus and confidence he is used to. hopefully, when the injured players return, he might get a bit of relief from the loss of pressure and the offence will come automatically
