Key Players Hurt Just Prior To Playoffs

Yep, everyone thought it was just precautionary until he sat out game 1... And for all intents and purposes, he was gone for game 2 because he was so rusty that it wasn't even funny. With that being said, game 3 he started to come around, game 4 he was one of the best players on the ice, game 5 was the game we lost at home but Datsyuk dominated the 1st period(probably the best period of playoff hockey he's had but he couldn't buy a goal), and game 6 he was a goal post or two away from being a hero. That's why i'm convinced that he can succeed in the playoffs. It's not like he's been non existent the way some people make it out to be. I think he's going to finally get his name on the scoresheet consistently this playoff run.

    Datsyuk Move in Today's game

I would pay you(like $5) for a copy Like i said before, the majority(like easily over 90%) of the moves that i'm talking about never resulted in goals - but man, i'd love to see them all put on a tape.

    Datsyuk Move in Today's game

Exactly my point. And the chances are that we will never seen that play again. I am to the point where i would literally pay somone to make a long highlight reel film of his moves like that, that never get seen and don't result in goals. If i had tapes of every Wings game since 01-02, i would seriously eventually go through each game and write down the time on the tape that he did something jaw dropping and find out how to record them all into a video on the computer.

    Datsyuk Move in Today's game

The move i'm thinking is when he somehow got away from a defender along the boards to get out of the defensive zone. Doc and Eddy O. both starting laughing because how ridiculous it was. Could have swore it was earlier in the game than the 3rd period. I'm pretty positive it happened a while before his set up Flip too, so i think i was right in that it was the 1st period.

    Datsyuk Move in Today's game

Unfortunately probably not. 95% of the things that Datsyuk does which i would considered brilliant and what make him who he is never get seen again after the game. The only thing that ends up on highlight reel films(youtube for example) are the goals he scores, and quite frankly, Datsyuk is a playmaker, not a goal-scorer. I tell non Red Wing fans this all the time - if someone were to ever make a highlight reel film of the moves and passes that Datsyuk makes regulary that don't always result in goals, it would be a hell of a lot more impressive than the few minutes of goals he does score(although those are usually impresive too). The day that someone makes a video with him just dangling around people(particularly with footage of his early years in the NHL) and includes passes that showcase his ridiculous vision/creativity, i will be a happy man.

    Datsyuk Move in Today's game

I could have swore it was 1st period, maybe 2nd, defently not 3rd though?

    wings in ot

Our forwards seems to be scared to attack offensively, and just play a real laid back "don't make a mistake" style of game in the reg season OT. But like said before, playoff OT is a totally different style so i'm not to worried about it. Is there anything better in sports than playoff OT?

    First Round Matchup

Dallas would be ideal. Hopefully they can keep winning and San Jose falls off a little.

Trade for second-tier players are Wings' only option

If it comes down to it, i'd rather trade for a 2nd-tier player than overpay for Guerin, etc. And unless the prices drop significantly, that's likely what will happen. Gelinas is a guy that i would not mind. Aged veteran who's seen it all and has had some big playoff moments.

    Hey Schneider, take another shot

Lol - most people don't have a clue what it's from.

    Hey Schneider, take another shot

Let's not forget that Schneider is still not 100% in game shape - he was out for quite a while there. Souray would bring a physical presence that we don't have, and a rocket of a shot, but overall he's overrated in my opinion. His defensive game is in no way great.

10 best Russian NHLers of all time?

Having Bure ahead of Fedorov is a complete joke in my opinion. I understand that some of you have and will never forgive Fedorov for leaving Detroit, but don't use that hatred to blind your vision. Fedorov is the best Russian ever to play the bulk of his career in the NHL. Fedorov in his prime was not only the most complete Russian, but the most complete player in the NHL. He was one of the most complete players that i've ever seen and i think a lot of people would agree with that. Bure was no question a more pure goal scorer than Fedorov, but that's about it. Their overall games are not even close. Fedorov could absolutely dominate a game both offensively and defensively, a thing that not many, and in this case Bure, cannot say.

    Hey Schneider, take another shot

Yeah, that one made me wonder too. If it was like a 3 on 2 with Maltby and Drapers, then yeah, i would understand shooting it and letting them crash the net. But the fact that it was Datsyuk to his right pissed me off so bad. He basically gave away a guarenteed scoring chance.

    a nabakov 4 schneider thought

Am i the only person who thinks that Nabokov is overrated??? Especially for the amount of money he makes. The guy can be rock solid at times, but he's way too inconsistent for my liking. He lets in alot of soft goals, and i'm not sure that he's ever won a HUGE game.

    Rumor on XM Radio

I don't see why everybody is so up in arms about Hudler. Personally, i don't see him a great NHLer. He's small, slow, and weak, and quite frankly, unless you have the vision/playmaking ability of Pavel Datsyuk, you can only go so far. And from what i've seen, Hudler isn't even close to the talent that Pavel is. Filpula, on the other hand, is a good complete hockey player. He's smart, good defensively, and is talented enough to play on a top 2 line. Between him and Hudler, Filpula will be the one wearing the winged-wheel for years to come.

    How about this trade?

What about Biron and Afgen...ov? How much total do they make? I would love to see him in the winged-wheel. If he had a better scoring touch he would be Ovechkin like. If you put him on the wing with either Pavel or Hank it could be magic.

    How about this trade?

Oh, trust me, i know that it makes no sense at all. I was just commenting on the "Datsyuk becoming the 3rd line center" part.
  18. silkyjohnson13

    How about this trade?

I know it's a fantasy deal, but if that was the case, you could move Zetterberg back to the wing where he is still very, very effective. You could either put him and Datsyuk back together for the #1 line or stick him with Briere, and allow Lang and Cleary to be your 3rd and 4th centers.

    my trade with lightning

Why trade a large core of your special teams when you can probably pick up a solid player to do the dirty work for Pavel by trading guys like Hudler and/or someone else. Homer is not past his prime when it comes to the PP, he's still the best at what he does. One of the reasons why we always have the #1 PP. Draper is still one of the top PKers and solid defensively. Two guys you can still win a Cup with, period.
  20. silkyjohnson13

    my trade with lightning

What, are you trying to totally dismantle our special teams? Draper = great PKer, Homer = great PP. I love Dats as much as anybody, but i am not willing to kill our special teams to get Pavel a russian buddy. Anyways, i here Samsonov is about to get an offer to take care of that Russian buddy idea.
