Nope. Pens have to win three in a row. Wings, one. And I hope Helmer takes me advice. It will make the next game SO much more interesting.
-
I don't think he does, but I think he needs more icetime. 4 minutes for your player who has been playing the best? Right. Though, he has at LEAST 2nd line hands and top line speed. His faceoffs will come seeing as he only became a fulltime centreman half way through his 18 year old season in the hat.

Okay ladies and gentlmen, I've finally snapped. After that game it's clear. Helm WAS our best centre. Sure, he blew goats nuts in the faceoff dot, but in six minutes he had a goal and 6 hits. That line was the best line we had. Helm was pissed the game before about his play and it showed last night. I expect the same if not more from him tomorrow. Give the kid the ice time. He gave Scuderi and Orpik fits. He was regularly the first player back AFTER he was forechecking. Argh.

Interesting Tidbit About Darren McCarty's Return
Ti-girl replied to Daniel Chosen's topic in General
McCarty has also made the tranistion for Helm a lot easier. He played with him in GR and Helm, being the type of kid he is (painfully shy) he needs someone to guide him for the first bit. I give McCarty as much credit as I do Helm for Helm's success. -
Yes he gets his name on the Cup and a ring. The only ones who don't are the GR call ups, minus Helmer for obvious reasons.

Hard work always beats talent unless talent works hard.
-
Nope, not Helm. Helm is an RBK *****. Wrong skates and gloves and stick. I know...I know...
-
Four years ago he was playing Jr B because he was "too small." I love being able to do the "I told you so" thing.

The Medicine Hat Tigers are known for their defensive play. Willie Desjardiens teaches a very strong defensive system and he makes his players play that system. Helm was brought through the system for 3 years, starting as a grinding centre and then moving into a top line role. He has better wheels than Draper and better hands. He also has great leadership abilities, he was an A on the Tigers and his leadership has been noted on the Griffins. This was my scouting report in '05 on Helm.
-
He also played at WJs and three long trips to the playoffs with the Tigers including a Mem Cup birth. Yeah, he's a great player. Has better hands than Draper and better speed.
-
No, why?

I'm just harassing you. Glad to see my HF persona has followed me. I hope Helm stays a Wing for life (or goes to the Oilers ). I can't say I'm a total Wings fan, but I do cheer for them when I'm not cheering for the Oilers. Does that count?

I try my best. I think he earned a chance. His speed adds something to the lineup that no one else has. He's defensively responsible, has a good scoring touch, and speed to burn. His only problem is the fact that he weighs about a buck seventy. And his playoff beard DOES look like mold, though last year, they did the whole "lets dye our hair black for the playoffs" thing. So. effing. Ugly. Makes it worse that he's blonde.
-
Who are you kidding? His playoff beard looks like mold.

I've been pimping Helm since the Wings drafted him. Way better than the 5th round that he went in. And to think, four years ago he was playing Jr B.
-
I'm just more impressed that Helm didn't puke/pass out when Lids talked to him. But, he played quite well, didn't look too out of place, made a few good plays.
-
But he can score on a breakaway... Though, one thing, Helm is naturally a centre, not a LW. He's just been playing wing with the Griffins for the past few games.
-
I hate packing.

Will you be my new best friend?

I love it when I get to watch THREE hockey games last night. One live, two on HNIC.
-
Darren got kind of shut down last night, but he was a force along the boards and drew about three penalties on the Broncos.
-
Hey I'm a Tigers fan who follows the team very closely and the Red Wings prospect Darren Helm. Anyone have any question about Helmsie I'd be happy to answer them! Ciao
