I can definitely hear a bit of sarcasm and/or disgust in Ken's voice when he says it too....I think they are sick of it as much as the rest of us, lol.

Just because someone makes a good effort and gets a lucky goal every now and then it doesn't make him a good hockey player. Like I said before, I don't like Hasek at all, but I praise him when plays a good game. Sammy has rare flicks of talent, however in order for me to consider him a good hockey player he certainly needs to do it much more often than he does. As another member just mentioned, I too can always tell when he is on the ice because he is constantly effing things up or loosing the puck. His shots are absolutely horrible and result in nothing more than turning over the puck 99% of the time. Of course, there is the rare occasion when he scores or gets a point, but he'll have to produce a TON more and play a TON better than he does in order for me to praise him. Yes he has more points than a lot of players on the team, however with the amount of ice time he gets, PP time, and shots he takes, he should have MANY more points than he already does. I believe Sammy's shot numbers are directly related to his skill level. The majority of the time when he has the puck he can't do anything else with it besides shoot it, thus his horrible shot quality. If he can't shoot it, he'll try a move or something and just loose the puck. Sammy would definitely get an "A" for effort, I'm not arguing that, he just doesn't have the talent to back up the amount of ice time he receives.

Hmmm, you must be watching different games than I am. I would praise him if he plays well......so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out why I don't praise him. It's obvious that you have a man crush on Sammy since he can do no wrong and you always defend him. I don't like Hasek and I praise him when he plays well. I'll keep my opinion that Sammy blows, thank you very much.

Yep, I've been saying this for a long time and agree 100%. Sammy is brutal - plain and simple. He can't hang with the Wings style of hockey, he lacks the talent, simple as that.

I agree....I've never disliked a Red Wing as much as I do Sammy.

Well, I have to disagree to the extreme on the original post. I'm not at all fan of no. 37, but I can honestly say that I'm not saying this just because I don't like him. He is constantly screwing up play after play. I can always tell when and where he is on the ice. I counted play after play during the Buffalo game (didn't see the Blues game) where the Wings were moving the puck up ice very well until Sammy touched the puck - then it completely fell apart. For the most part his passes are terrible i.e. passing to the defenseman over the blue line and out of the zone, his shots are absolutely horrible; I know many say "if you don't shoot you don't score" but his shots are nothing more than turning the puck over to the opposition. He has a clumsy, out-of-control stride that looks like me skating around out there, lol. I can't tell you how many times I've seen him enter the zone and try to pull some sort of move around the defense which results with the puck fluttering off his stick or the puck getting stolen. IMO, the guy just doesn't have the skill and/or finesse to fit in with this current Wings team and style of play. There are several guys on the team that have fewer points than him, but they have different roles on the team. With the amount of ice time he gets especially on the PP (God help us), he should have so many more points than he does. No. 37 is brutal, I literally cringe every time he touches the puck, and for the most part it is for good reason because he is usually screwing something up or turning the puck over. Granted he does score the occasional goal or make that good pass, but they are few and far between....at least for the oodles of ice time he gets.

OMG....please don't compare hockey with basketball (aka thugball, sissyball, slap each other around ball) ever again.

I've always been a huge fan of Maltby.....one of the key guys in the Wings' core.
