I will lose major respect for Chicago fans if

Michigan has so done it's economy to itself. Capitalism made it great, socialism tore it down. Michigan is land of the worker, comrade. Government requires too much pay for too little work and when a plant goes out of business they have to keep paying the workers forever to not work. And the majority of idiot voters keep trying to fix what socialism has done to the State with MORE socialism. What about making it a right to work State and trying to get new auto plants built there? Churchill said, "The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries." Michigan has chosen the latter. Which is why after growing up there I work where the jobs are. OUTSIDE Michigan. I'd be more indignant if Chicago chants about cars if they weren't right.

    "Big Bad Bruins"

How does that make sense when the Canes won 4/7?

Ducks fans crying about Game Winning goal.

The more the ucks and their fans cry and while, the more I LOVE it! Ka-ching! Tell them the refs are on our side, piss them off more. Obviously given their goon like tactics they know it's a crock. If it were true, we'd be on the power play the entire game. Running into players going to the bench, wacking Wing's legs with their sticks while waiting for a face off. Finding a play they're not cheap shot artists is the trick. Obviously if the refs were in our camp, they won't be doing that crap. But the more they whine they were robbed the more it hurts, so I say ENCOURAGE them to think they were robbed.

Babcock speaks to Datsyuk about lack of production

We know it's a big deal because Babcock had a chat with him? I agree Dat's performance in this round isn't good enough, but I don't agree with your argument at all. I sure hope the coach having a "little chat" with one of his players is in fact a regular occurrence and actually doesn't constitute making it a big deal.

    D-mac recalled for game 6

Then again, if they hadn't done that maybe they'd be sitting at home on the sofa watching us get ready to play in the conference finals by now. When you're a one line team, you can either play them and hope someone else steps up or not play them and hope for the same.
  7. NomadFromKazoo

Who will play in net for game 6?

Hiller has had a great playoffs and kept them in the game when the rest of the team was getting smoked though game 5. What possible argument could you even make for starting Guiguere in game 6? Why would you even ask this question?

You guys have GOT to see this.

We take the series, the Ducks blame it on the league. Works for me!

    Do you re-sign Marian Hossa?

If the cap dropped to 40 million, half the teams in the NHL would be in the same boat as us. If we can sign Hossa to a Z contract to retire here we should do it in a heartbeat. Yes, we may lose a couple of our mid tier players like Sammy and it's unfortunate, but you can't have everything. And with the pipeline ready to crack the Wings from GR with our best players signed until the next ice age and their cap hit not going up as the cap goes up, we'll have the cap to keep our youngsters. If we let guys like Hossa go, we have more cap to sign mid tier players in the short run and we lose an elite player. Big whoop.
  10. NomadFromKazoo

    Do you re-sign Marian Hossa?

It's not just wishful thinking. Both Hossa and Holland have strongly indicated they want to make it work. The question if they can solve the cap.

    Colorado or Anaheim?

I lived in San Jose and they would definitely pick Anaheim or Dallas over us as their top rival. I have one Sharks fan I keep in touch with who hates the Wings and is rooting for us big time right now. We are definitely near the top, I'm just saying they wouldn't pick us if they had to pick one.
  12. NomadFromKazoo

    Colorado or Anaheim?

You have to be kidding. The Ducks to the level of the Avs? It has so far to go to reach that level it's not even worth discussing at this point.

Should the wings bring up Leino?

I'm with you. I love Leino and hope he's going to play in Detroit next year, not GR. But he is making the transition to more physical NHL style and smaller rinks. I don't think the playoffs is the best time to do that.
  14. NomadFromKazoo

Should the wings bring up Leino?

You realize there IS actually a middle ground between dictatorial powers to decide who's on the roster and not having any influence at all? You realize the only issue isn't who Babcock wants to play, like the salary cap? You realize it's not just a one time decision who should be traveling up and down constantly but workout out a strategy through the season?

    Cleary = Maltby 2.0 ?

I see your point. We need to get rid of him. And Hossa too, someone else pointed out he's disappeared. And Z and Dats, we haven't had enough points from them in the second round this year. And our secondary scoring doesn't always, gone. And Babcock, what's he doing, can him. Ozzie, goes without saying he's gone. Ilich has completely disappeared from the playoffs. We need to get rid of them all and close down the tent. Let's not get anyone to replace them, they would just be disappointments too. I always enjoy insight's like this...

Randy Carlyle's view of the hit

Clearly Brown was elevating his shoulder into Hudler's head. Hudler is short, if Brown wasn't elevating I might buy it. But when you watch the replay, clearly he was going up. Shoulder or not, the target was the head and he deserved what he got an a suspension. And if the Wings go after heads they should get the same. Head is just not like other body parts in repairs. But Carlyle is a moron according to his own story. He says it was under a second, and criticizes Huds for watching his pretty pass and not paying attention. That he's saying himself Huds is watching his pretty pass says the puck was gone and he had time to react. So that means so did Ryan, who was elevating into his head. HELLO, that's INTERFERENCE! Then he says how hockey is a physical game if the Wings don't get that and seconds later after ignoring the NHL is trying to protect heads rips the Wings for the goalie and says the NHL is trying to PROTECT GOALIES! The point he just ignored on HEADS. The moron.

    Ericsson Vs. Perry

If you watch to the end of the clip, the replay they showed of the fight shows a better angle that Ericcson really popped him a couple of good ones. I liked Babcock in the press conference that he's against fighting, and he's fine with wailing on the Ducks. I agree, I generally hate fighting, but the Ducks are dirty and if you take it they will get worse. If they want to fight the Wings on their stereotypical reputation, fine, and they can expect real fists in return.
  18. NomadFromKazoo

    Congrats to VS

The thing I hate about them is that whenever a player is breaking away down the ice, they zoom in for a close up. I want to see the action when there is action and close ups when there isn't, not the way they do it. It isn't just versus. Do people really want to see the expression on a guy's face, which is typically the same expresionless focus rather then what's going on in the play? I don't get it.

    will wings retire fedorov's 91?

Fair enough. I missed this because you posted it while I was typing my reply and I didn't read back to see if that happened after I posted. I thought we offered him his prior year salary to return, I didn't realize we'd upped it to 4 mil. This doesn't change the underlying discussion, but you don't say it does, just what we offered him.
  20. NomadFromKazoo

    will wings retire fedorov's 91?

I'm sure it does since it diverts from your endless spinning of the content. He made 2.25 the year before he left. I thought we offered to re-up him for that. Someone said, no proof and I couldn't find it on the internet he left for lateral money, not less money. OK, I'll accept that regardless and say I was wrong on that point, which doesn't change that Federov said we were insulting him with our offer which was more then what he left for. Shanahan left saying nothing against the organization just that we wanted to go younger, I never heard Kenny refute that in public. And it turn out he left for the same, not less money like Federov and still no one is claiming he blasted the org like Federov (Twice). So this doesn't change anything. Actually you said I was judging Federov, not whether he should be in the rafters. You picked a word with a lot of connotation you wanted to convey of a heavy moral pronouncement. All I said was I don't think he should be in the rafters because of how he wanted out of here. Wow, throw him in jail the rest of his life and condemn him to all eternity in hell. Spin all you want, but you chose that word to convey the heavy condemnation which wasn't in my post but you wanted on your side. He should be in the HOF because he was a great hockey player. I have a lot of good memories of him. He shouldn't be in the rafters because status quo he's saying he's not a Red Wing and his last words to us he didn't want to be. Wow, I'm just dripping with bitterness. OK, once again you force me to point out the obvious because you whiffed on it. That was an EXAMPLE. I want him to do something to say he is first a Wing. He can say it when he retires. I just said that's the last thing he said. The bitterness was not in my posts, it was in your spin doctoring choice of words with false contations you chose. I want to end this, but I'm not letting it end on crap like what you're continuing to post. If you are right, stop falsely portraying my points with words with false connotations to fit your agenda and address my real points. Or let it go. All I am saying is last he told me, he is not a Wing and wants out. Twice. THAT is the only reason I oppose him in the rafters. If he tells me in any sincere way WHATEVER way he chooses WHENEVER he choses he is in his heart first a Wing, my mind is changed. I gave an EXAMPLE of how Art Monk did it. I frankly don't get how you thought that was the only way I thought he should do it rather then being an example, seemed pretty darned obvious it was an example. But that's how you argue. He gave us lots of great years. Being in the rafters should be giving us great years AND being a proud Wing. My view, not that hard.

    will wings retire fedorov's 91?

Shanahan leaving for twice the money is the same as Federov leaving for less? It's "judging" him? What we "remember" him for is equivalent to hanging his name from the rafters? Sure it is. Spin, spin. I said in the beginning if he changes from when he left, I'm open to that. I'm not open to just forgetting that he didn't want to be here and he told us so, twice. I'll give you an example, I'm a Redskin fan in football. I moved back and forth between Kalamazoo and the DC area and Michigan's team is, you know, the Lions. Easy choice. Anyway, Art Monk said some bitter things when he left the Redskins and I was irked. Then when he retired he signed a one day contract to retire a Skin. His way of saying what he was in the end. Message sent, message received. When Federov does something like that, I'm totally open to the same consideration. Your spin doctoring, broad brushes and accusations of judging don't do it. Only Federov can say he wants the fence mended. His last statement to us was he wanted out and would leave money on the table to get it. That is the status quo, it is not the past.
  22. NomadFromKazoo

    will wings retire fedorov's 91?

Yes, it is a plus, I agree. And sorry if I jumped on you a bit, I'm just sick of the people arguing we retire his number ignoring how he left and when you said just that he signed an offer sheet ignoring the rest I was annoyed. We are not talking HOF, which I agree Federov is. I have a lot of fond memories of him. The point is we are talking about the RED WINGS retiring his number. How can you ignore his extreme attempts WANTING to get out of here TWICE when there were exactly two opportunities to say the RED WINGS should honor him as a great member of their organization, a great member who didn't want to be here. Was I? How was I wrong? I agreed with you signing an offer sheet would not have rejected him. It was that he publicly demanded we not match one and left for less money the second time. He raised nothing like that in Shanahan who got little public statement from Kenny he wanted him to stay and left for like twice the money demonstrating that. He didn't contradict my point. BTW, he looks for every opportunity to throw in these bitter little barbs ever since he found out I'm not a liberal on the political boards. I am a Red Wing first on the Red Wing board. But I'm used to libs doing that, politics is first in everything sadly with liberalism. He should hate me there and not carry it to Red Wing discussions is my view, but his view is up to him.

    will wings retire fedorov's 91?

We offered him a far smaller contract then the market. He said publicly that he thought we wanted to go with younger players, which seems consistent with that. Kenny was silent. He pondered retirement and decided to play for the Rangers for 4 mil. So in the context of my point on Federov, what's your point exactly?
  24. NomadFromKazoo

    will wings retire fedorov's 91?

Um...knowledge of history, poor. Federov didn't just "sign an offer sheet." He went to the media and told the Wings not to match it. And then the second time while saying our offer was an insult to his manhood, he left for LESS money. I guess you had to skew (i.e., ignore) the facts since history didn't support your statement. No one should be retired a Wing who didn't want to be here. If he changes that in the future I'm open to changing my view. I'm not open to ignoring history. We have such a long line of people who wanted to be here. I don't blame Shanny for leaving, he thought at that point we didn't want him and since Kenny did nothing to change that perception it's hard to argue he was wrong. But Federov was 2/2 for wanting to leave when he had the chance. It makes no sense to hunt him down and say, please Sergi, please can we reward you for not wanting to play here?

    chicago vs. vancouver

Now that the Hawks are moving through the playoffs, when will the announcers start the "Hawks have gone the longest without a cup" chant they hammered us with unti our drought finally ended. If the Hawks end up winning the Cup the one blessing would be then the team that is up with the loungest drought is the one team most Wings fans would rather it be then the Hawks...
