I'm thinking what we got for the price we got it. I don't see how we pass on Drake for what we paid.

My list too. I don't care what they say, Shanny's staying in NY. I have been living in NY (though moving to NC this summer) and both sides want it. Some others would be OK after these two but I'd start there and see if anything's left. I'd welcome Markov back, but not jump up and down if we do or cry if we don't.

So that's the standard? It either propels him to a whole new level or it's a slap in the face? I mean I thought we were just developing him in the farm system as we do almost all our young players who weren't groomed overseas. I thought it was a non issue. He learns by playing until he's ready to go to the next level rather then watching others play from an NHL bench. You convinced me now. If Howard isn't going to be ready to contend for MVP honors then the next year in the farm system would turn out to have been a TOTAL waste of time. You're right, farm systems are idiotic demoralizers for our young players who would learn far more sitting on a bench then playing. I mean it's not like us sitting in the stands learning to be NHL players, I mean they would be WAY closer to the ice learning to play NHL hockey by sitting and watching it. Sure, let's go with that.

Um.....no duh. Humor is totally lost on some people. Even when you TELL THEM it's humor. I already said it was a joke. Thanks for taking it seriously despilte the obviousness of it AND my already having addressed it. I never laughed so hard in my life.

I live in the NY area. He's staying with the Rangers based on the comments from both sides. There just is no question here.

Thank you, thank you very much. I was cracking up when I wrote it. Frankly, I thought no one would notice.

This has to be one of the most pointless forums I've ever seen. Has anyone noticed we are playing our youngsters in the farm system? Does that make sense? What are we thinking? Um....yeah.

We put a young goaltender in GR to let him play constantly against other talented youngsters rather then letting him sit and pick splinters out of his dairy air and learn nothing. The Humanity! The Disrespect! Your argument makes NO sense in any way shape or form. That is what Grand Rapids is for. That is the purpose. That is why it exists. What are you talking about?

I think the question is money. If he wants several years at 4 or 5 mil forget it. If he wants shorter for less to see if he can get healthy again then sure. It could be in his interest to play a year for us say at $2 mil max if he feels he's going to come back too.

Division, sure, but are they rivals? Don't they have to have won something once to be a rival? I mean at least Chicago and St. Louis have been rivals and Nashville is now. I don't know about Columbus though. -
for Datsuk: I've been hard on him because after his last negotiation I thought and said his allegance was only to money and his desire to stay no more then an invitation to outbid everyone's services for him. I mocked his saying he wanted to stay here for his career. Well, he delivered, I congratulate him for that and am big enough to come out and say I was wrong about him. I have always considered him a loaner player and not really a Red Wing and was sure once U was added to FA he would be gone. That's going to change now. On the cap, sure it's a big investment, but in a big player It's manageable for the commitment and skill we get from him and down the line it will become really cap friendly as the cap goes up. Way to go Dats!

I disagree, Babcock did the right thing because it was not an isolated incident. Hasek has to stop flopping. The Wings hadn't called him out for it before, it was about time. And Babcock was dead on that everyone knows he's a flopper and that's why it's not called, this being a perfect example why. I am no Hasek basher or defender of the refs. - I have been a Hasek supporter since we signed him, I preferred him to any alternative we had - I have a lot of issues with referees calling games - And you're right he played a great game and kept in it. But we are PAYING him to play goalie for us and none of this excuses that he gave away a free goal and is a flopper and flopped and he has to knock it off. He gave up a 100% chance at a goal for a roughly 20% chance at a goal assuming the flop was even called.

Hey wait a minute, wasn't Bertuzzi the one who sucker punched that guy from Colorado, what was his name again?

Hockey is entertainment, isn't that something the NHL should encourage? And it's a way to "even up" the teams by having bad teams get something for their best players before they lose them? And Nashville gave up a lot for a a dubious benefit. They bring in a great player for the rest of the year who isn't meshed with the rest of the team. Philadelphia, who sucks, gets a chance to improve their team. The attention shows fans are interested. I'm not seeing the loser here.

Have you lost your F'ing mind!?!?!?!? Your first choice is to get Claude Lemieux but if you can't talk him out of retirement you'll take Pronger? What are you, a Maple Leaf fan? The only winged wheel on him should be the imprint left from running the prick over.

I agree. Our playoffs are going to come down to Hasek. WIll he be healthy and dominate? No one we get at the deadline's going to be the difference. I'm not saying we shouldn't look for what we can do, just not count on that and certainly to your point not jeopardize the future. And I'm good with that, I'd rather go for bust with Hasek then have the certainty of a medocre goaltender and trade for a scorer where we end up going an extra round but not all the way. It's all or nothing! In the end, it's Stanley Cups you remember. And now all is depended on Hasek, not a trade at the deadline.

Not clear what your point was, so I can't say I disagree with it. I said we want him to play within a team while in DC he could go for stats. Did you disagree with that?
-
I agree with you. And this is normal for players picked up by the Wings. The Caps were a bad team and he had nothing to do but go for stats. I dont' recall him being a +/- leader. Now he has to play D and work within a system of good players. We don't want his goal stats because that would mean sacrificing teamwork on O and goals on D, things that weren't an issue with the Caps.

Wow, I'm stung! You read a thread you weren't interested in. You then actually posted that you weren't interested in the thread. Then you asked someone take care of preventing threads that don't interest you even when they are clearly titled. I am saying what, why is a question you need to answer.
-
The title of the thread was pretty darn clear. Why did you read it if you weren't interested in it?

Lang has been solid. He's worth what we are paying him. He draws attention from the other team helping his teammates and when they don't he makes them pay and he showed up for the playoffs last year, unlike most of his teammates. Also, he has a better attitude then his bashers on this site who need to pay more attention to the games besides watching the puck and saying "ohhh" when the Wings shoot and don't score.
