  1. Are you saying the team speaks German? I wasn't clear on if that's the question or what language the Country speaks. Switzerland has four official languages: German, French, Italian and Romansch. German is spoken by the majority so your answer is the best one if you pick one as well.

Is women's hockey too out of whack?

I haven't watched the Canadian women yet, but the Americans were clearly doing that. In the third period of the game I saw they just kept dumping it in the zone and skating away. Maybe one skater would chase it and waste some more time. What's really scary is the final scores actually make the games look closer then they are.

Leino to Flyers for Tollefsen and a 5th Rounder

Funny, you ask a question as if you have no idea, then answer it in the next sentence.

    Lidstrom's Future

You're dreaming. If he goes down it'll only be a little, like to $6m. The guy was a Norris finalist again dude. There is no reason he should do this. I mean sure, if he says he will I'll take the cap. But there is no way I expect him to take even 4-5 much less this sort of absurdly low number.

    Yzerman or Lidstrom

You screwed up the question by asking who had the bigger impact on the organization. You should have asked who was the better player. The first can't be reasonably debated, Stevie Y was the leader in the creation of the modern Wings who went to 6 finals and won 4 Cups. Who is a better player can certainly be debated, though I still go to the same answer. But you can't really go wrong arguing for Lidstrom.

    Abdelkader

A "good business man" keep his players down so he can pay them less. Suuuuurrrrrrre. Let's go with that. Abdelkader may spend most of the year in GR and I hope he does, so he can PLAY. If he's good enough to come to the Wings and play big minutes then he comes. If he's a part time 4th liner, part time bench warmer, part time healthy scratch in Detroit he's not in Detroit, he's in GR. THAT is the reason he'll probably be in GR most of the year. Not so Holland doesn't need to scrape up an extra mil to keep him and stay under the Cap next year.

    Forsberg?

Sort of like a Christian who had an honor the Devil day. Why on earth would you post such complete an utter crap on a Wings message board? Dude, are you just not a Wings fan or is there something seriously wrong with you? I mean besides that you're not a Wings fan. Do you think this is funny?

    88 goals, 118 assists, and 206 points

So back to your "balanced" points. Well, the scoffers were right and you were wrong. We re-signed Zetterberg AND Franzen for the rest of their meaningful careers. Our losses were all minor compared to that except Hossa, who was always a long shot to repeat. If you want to know how NOT in trouble we are, run the same stats over the playoffs and especially in the finals where we went to game 7 of the SCF finals with Kopecky completely gone and Huds and Hossa might as well have been. You will find the "balanced" answer to your question in that on why we're not actually in trouble. And wow, did Holland have a spectacular long term season for us in signing up players to long term contracts where as the economy recovers and the cap goes up the core of our player's cap hit won't.

    88 goals, 118 assists, and 206 points

Already having most of our core signed for years we sign Z and Mule until the next ice age. Lids isn't going anywhere if he wants to play. Kopecky was a marginal player and we have a swarm of youth coming. Sammy had big, gaping weaknesses with his strengths. And what did we lose? Looks like Hudler, but we still own his NHL rights and he's a midget in a growing league and Hossa who took a cut to stay here and would have again but we just couldn't get close because of the cap, but we almost swung a deal to keep him we never should have been in contention in (in theory in the cap age) to get. And you call that SCRAMBLING? Wow. Give me more SCRAMBLING baby!

    Bettman's Salary.....

He's worth every dime. No, wait, he's worth A dime. Not really, but just to be nice. The guy is a classless ass. We follow the Wings through an 82 game season and 3 series just to watch him screw us so he can run commercials of Crosby and Malkin winning the cup instead of losing it. He has turned the NHL into the No Honor League. I loved the Wings fans booing him when he spoke at the end of game seven. For those of you who who were there and did that...Well done I say, well done

    88 goals, 118 assists, and 206 points

The reality is that to a lot of people somehow ripping your own team being totally "pessimistic" and "negative" is in their mind somehow automatically "objective." I'm not saying you are or are not that, haven't read enough of your posts, I'm just telling you that usually when I hear what you said it's by someone who thinks that's the case.

    88 goals, 118 assists, and 206 points

I didn't see it that way when I read it and I don't see is that re-reading it now. The first half says we're totally f'd. The second half says hey guys, good news there is some balance, reality is we're only mostly f'd. You included Kopecky who while I am not against as must as a lot of people suggesting we can't replace him with equal quality is laughable. Hudler is skilled but small in a growing league. We lose some positive with Sammy, we lose some negative by getting rid of him. Hossa is the only real "loss" but to sign him would have required dumping other good players and we never really expected to keep him. Your original post was not remotely balanced, sorry.

    88 goals, 118 assists, and 206 points

And yet, no one I saw mocked the post for expressing "concern." The issue was the lack of perspective, so what's your point exactly? Hey guys, STOP doing what you're NOT DOING. I'm sick of it!!!!! Umm...thanks.

    88 goals, 118 assists, and 206 points

Oh...my....God....we're going to play with an active roster of 19 next year? Wow. We are so screwed. BTW, can you show me a link for that? I hadn't heard it.

Holland confirms that Hudler will play in KHL

Actually, this could work out for us. I really like Hudler, but I don't think an ultra small skill player is what we really need right now. While our being a bunch of soft pansies is greatly exaggerated, bigger players is clearly the trend right now. I think Hudler frankly at this moment is more valuable for other teams with less skill and more size then we have. But I hate to just lose him, he has a big heart and as the NHL and our team evolved 2 years could possibly make him a lot better fit for both the team and hopefully the cap then. So...maybe we look at this as a 2 year assignment for him to earn decent money and us to work out our cap and in 2 years he comes back without bitterness with both sides knowing it was about "the cap." The risk is we lose a guy who while being a decent player for us really isn't the right fit to the puzzle right now and maybe in 2 years he is. But if that happens at least he doesn't tie up the cap now when we can't afford him and we have the cap to go after someone else later. Just a thought.

    Chris Osgood message board poster?

Wouldn't that be MORE aggravating? You say, hey, has anyone noticed this new kid (about yourself)? Everyone's like, "who?"
  19. NomadFromKazoo

    Chris Osgood message board poster?

Not sure what your point is regarding the discussion since we're talking about someone who wrote a post on a Penguin board who said they are "Ozzy," not whether Ozzie would read and possibly anonymously respond to a post.

    Yzerman GM in Chicago soon?

Suuuurrre. If I say you have a ***** for a dog and call you a *****, those are the same thing because I used the same word. Got it. Deeeeeep, dude. Thanks for educating me. You're just interested in your little girlie catfight, so this is my last word on the subject. IF your position had merit, THEN you would ridicule him for what he actually said holding to his actual statement and position. But no, you want to hold him to a position of your own choosing insisting it's the same thing because you used one of the words he did. You would not change what he said if truth was on your side because that's a free pass for him out of his statement to anyone with a critical mind. Some people do more with an eighth grade education then others. Oh, and... ...word.

    Yzerman GM in Chicago soon?

I'll try reading. Oops I did. Maybe you should try comprehending. The quote you said does not say Hossa is a locker room cancer. You think it does because 1) It had the word "cancer" in it demonstrating the reading yes comprehending no point. 2) From the ensuing discussion you proved my point you had an agenda, you're little tiff with the author. I wasn't taking his side over yours, my friend. Only stating accurately that the particular quote wasn't about Hossa but about the Blackhawks signing him and that action was the "cancer" not Hossa personally
  22. NomadFromKazoo

    Yzerman GM in Chicago soon?

He in fact didn't say anything about Hossa personally at all. He was talking about the Hawks organization and that they screwed up signing Hossa and it's going to hurt them. There is no way to logically spin that into Hossa being a cancer no matter what your agenda is.
  23. NomadFromKazoo

Get a new goalie- Get a good goal scorer

It makes total sense. I was in favor of swinging Hossa if we could do it under the terms we offered him. But blowing up our team to give him what the Hawks did wasn't worth it and no one we lost was going to "win" a Cup for us. When you combine locking up Z and Mule for their careers we still have a great team for next year and as the economy recovers and the cap resumes going up then we are so positioned to go out and get other Hossas in the future with our best young players all locked up at what will be increasingly favorable cap terms. I also like Flip coming into his own and if we signed Hossa he may have had to go to make the cap room. The future is very bright for the Wings for a long time to come.

    Yzerman GM in Chicago soon?

Dude, that's totally not what he said. Try re-reading it.

    boo hossa?

It makes us look like pathetic loser *******. You go with a bud to a party. His ex-tramp he dumped ugly is heckling him calling him a looser and other obvious, shallow, bitter barbs. Who are you laughing at for being the pathetic loser *****? Your bud? I don't think so. Pittsburgh looked pathetic for booing him every time he touched the puck. Whatever else anyone thinks of Detroit, we won 4 cups in the last 13 years more then any other team. Why would we be a bunch of bitter whores over someone who left us in one year we didn't expect to keep in the first place? Wouldn't a fan with pride think it was HIS loss, not theirs?
