Black Eye for NHL & Stanley Cup?

"The year off is a part of hockey history," states Phil Pritchard, Curator of the Hockey Hall of Fame. "The inscription regarding 2004-05 is not only for the people of today, but for the people 50 years from now. The Stanley Cup inscriptions tell the entire story of the trophy, not an abridged version."

    Injury Bug?

Has anyone else noticed the sudden injury bug with this team? Hasek - Thigh Bertuzzi - Back (aquired injury) Holmstrom - Upper Body Injury Zetterberg - Back And I still think I might be missing someone. Is anyone else concerned about this, figuring the playoffs are in a little more than a month and several of these injuries are "2-3 weeks" or "indefinately" ? (I aplogize for the spelling, I'm in a bit of a rush! - Go Wings)

    Greg Johnson

The Sports Network claims that the Red Wings have re-signed Greg Johnson, who they state is fit to play: February 22, Sports Network: In team personnel news, Detroit picked up a former Predator for the upcoming stretch drive when it signed veteran center Greg Johnson on Monday. The 35- year-old had spent the previous seven seasons with Nashville and ranks second on the Predators' all-time list for games played. ohnson, who began his 12-year NHL career with Detroit in 1993, had re-joined the Red Wings as a free agent over the summer. However, he was forced to briefly retire prior to the start of the season after a training-camp physical revealed an abnormality in his heart. Mr. Khan's confirmed that this report is false. Johnson's not coming back. MLive reported this, however, Channel 4 also confirmed it, usually they are very credible about reporting proper news. I think I'll wait and see. I'm not sold either way in this one yet.

    Holland backing down?

According to TSN on the winter GM meetings: ''I have a better sense of the market now as I head home,'' said Detroit Red Wings GM Ken Holland. ''The prices remain too high. Whether or not we'll be willing to pay that price next Tuesday at the deadline remains to be seen.''

Gary Bettman doesn't intend to step down

Gary Bettman makes me angry beyond belief. hockey on cable tv is dying right now. If bettman was smart, he'd realize that being on ESPN is a must (As much as I hate ESPN, it's true) and negociating a contract with them based on a ratings/air time ratio could be to the NHL's advantage. heck, do a Versus & ESPN contract for all I care, the NBA/NFL/MLB are broadcast nationally on more than one station. This game too good to fly under the radar. As for the schedule, it needs to go back to the old format. Does anyone want to see us play Columbus & St. Louis 16 times a year (I know, a little extreme) >? no. Much like the Lions with Ford, the NHL won't be better til Bettman is gone. FIRE BETTMAN.

SFE: Wings looking at 'star player' by deadline

People, People, if anyone actually listened to what Rob Parker reported, the wings were looking to aquire LaPointe AND a star player that could put up big offensive numbers. I don't know why people in this thread are claiming that LaPointe isn't the star power we need. That's cause they aren't getting him for scoring, they are getting him cause 90% of our team is a bunch of softies.

    NHL 07

so NHL 07 came out a couple days ago an suposedly the Franchise mode is supose to be the best and most realistic ever. Beisdes the game play, I'm looking to hear from anyone who's played the game to see what they think. I was let down with NHL 06 so I hope EA Sports has bounced back with 07. I'm hoping to get my game in the mail soon. Until then, I'll live bi-curiously through LetsGoWings!

    NHL 07

yes I did mean vicariously. I just like to use improper grammer on here now and then to see if people catch it...becuase it's as common on the message boards as are boo's when Fedorov returns to town.
