  1. WingedWheelin06 -- What are you doing back here? I thought you said the Wings were done?

just becuase i was wrong about today doesn't mean I can't write on the boards? besides, I stand beside my stance, we were horrible in 3-4 and we deserved to lose if we played like that again today. Luckly we did not.

  2. side thought: did anyone think Jim Playfair sent mclennen in to do some damage? I know the switch golaies thing happens in hockey, espcially that late in a game and how rough it was getting, but mclennen came out pissed off from the moment the puck was dropped and looked like he was just out to hurt someone regardless.

  4. Just becuase i think we will lose doesn't mean I don't want to see them win or will stop watching. It's the emptiness after losing another 1st round series that I can't bear again. You all are telling me you dread that feeling of pain and disapointment? Just becuase I'm down on this team doesn't mean I'm fair weathered, it just means I have lost faith based solely on what I've seen on the ice in recent memory. If anyone can tell me based on recent history I shouldn't feel this way, please, rationalize it.

  5. You can only judge a book by it's cover, and right now our cover says "sucks" in the worst way. I predicted the wings in 6, I was faithful, but I get so mad beyond words to watch this team all season just to see them roll over year after year in round 1 in multiple fashions. I don't get how I am the only one who is this passionately upset by this franchise in recent years. It makes you feel liek you wasted your time and money to see the team curl up in the corner when things get "intense"

These guys need to step up, change the mentality of this team becuase it's horrible, abosultely horrible right now.

  6. I will call it now. This series is over. It's 2001 against LA all over again.

What a joke, I don't know why we all watch them all season when they roll over in the playoffs. Think about it, other than 2002, we've been horrible in the playoffs this decade.

Also, before the playoffs, CBC poll said wings were the most likely to be upset in round 1. Looks like they were right.

I love this team, but I'm sick of getting my heart broken.

  7. I found an interesting article on Hasek on NHL.com

    Highlights of the Article:

    Calling it Quits?:

    - "After what happened in Ottawa, I told my wife, 'That's it (career over),' " Hasek told me after a game-day skate in early March. "When I got a call from the Red Wings, I couldn't believe how excited I was. I didn't finish 2004 and I didn't expect a call."

    More Than a Goalie:

    - Hasek is a simple man with a not-so-simple job. He’ll do anything he can to stop the puck. But off the ice, he’s a learned man. Hasek possesses the equivalent of a master's degree in history from the University of Hradec Kralove, is an accredited high school teacher in the Czech Republic and a voracious reader of books on history and art. Hasek's competitiveness is legendary. He was a midfielder in soccer and a junior tennis champion in Eastern Bohemia. He plays soccer, tennis and squash in the summer.

On Playing for the Wings a 2nd Time:

    - "One thing I'll never forget was Dom coming into my office in early January 2004 and telling me, ‘Ken, I’m not here for the money ($8 million a season at the time). If I can’t play, don’t pay me another cent.’ At that point, Holland knew more about "THE MAN" than ever. He smile widely while he was telling this story. "I’ll never forget that he won a Stanley Cup for us," Holland continued. "But more important, he was a man of his word with me when he got hurt in 2003-04 and he walked away from $3 million. How many people would walk away from $3 million?"

    His Current Work Ethic:

"I'm proud of what I've done in this game with the Stanley Cup and trophies and gold medals," Hasek said. "But you don't prepare for the next season by living in the past. You come here to try to do everything to win again. I would never, ever come back just to play the game. I want to come back to be the best and be the winning goalie at the end of the season."

I don't think Hasek is as bad of a guy as some of the media has made him out to be.

  8. I can almost guarantee that if ticket prices for the cheapest seat were $30 and not $63, the joe would be sold out.

This isn't about the lack of passionate fans, it's about Michigan's economy floating in the toilet. I know I'd go to the games but I have bills to pay and I like having a place to sleep at night (that isn't my truck).

    Go Wings!
