I was skeptical in the off season when the Wings signed him, but from game one against the Ducks I was glad to have him and I thought he played amazing for us in the playoffs and he is a great guy. Goodluck in retirement Dallas, you deserve the best!

this is a retarded move, good coach
-
Ducks, Pens, Preds Ducks are pure evil Pens are overexposed and the players, coaches, and fans feel entitled to everything. Play by play guy who like growls when they score, horrible. Preds because of pretty terrible homer announcers and Tootoo and other bags o' deusche

Is past his short-lived prime, ***** where it matters, deteriorated hands and scoring touch, gooning went too far, now he is gun shy and the few months he wore the Winged Wheel made me physically ill... ... in otherwords, see avatar <<<

Hossa was a rental player, the Pens traded players and picks for his services and he was a huge reason the Pens did as well as they did in the playoffs and also a big reason they didn't get swept by the Wings. Hossa owes the Pittsburgh Penguins nothing. As far as saying he "wants to stay in Pittsburgh" that everyone is bitching about, that was one of his options, probably plan B, but what he actually said was "There is a limit, but I'd gladly go for less money to a great team", which he did. Pittsburgh fans say he led them on purely because they assumed "hey, thats us!". Here is a kid that personifies the self-deception of Pens fans, watch as he plays a clip, the clip says nothing about staying in Pittsburgh, and the kid says see he was alluding to staying with the Pens. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIzu1FvCPZ4 As I said in the comments below: Pittsburgh fans probably think strippers like them too.

Who Wears the "C" after Lidstrom
b.shanafan14 replied to LIDSTROM-YZERMAN4PRESIDENT's topic in General
Its definately going to be Zetterberg the minute Lidstrom retires, Pav and Hank would both be great, but tie goes to the guy who speak most better english words mixing. ON A SIDENOTE: LeftWinger, why let Filpulla go? Just curious -
He better do better than he has been doing. I knew Fedorov wouldn't take what his production implies he should.... good fit tho, so who knows...

SWEET THREAD! Ok, I'm Brian Burke, in flight I break into the cockpit, take control of the plane and crash it head on into the Florida Panthers' plane.... I just fixed two, BRIAN BURKE IS THE GM OF THE YEAR!
-
Like others have said, wonder what this says about Bettman's feelings since Burke has been running his mouth for almost a year and Lowe finally speaks up for himself and NOW its an issue.

The hardest part is gauging what Zetterberg and Franzen sign for. Before the Hossa signing, I think we all thought Hank would sign for a bargain mirroring Datsyuk's $6.7 mil and depending on how Franzen follows up his season, he would take comparably less raise than he could get elsewhere to stay in Detroit. Will really be tough I think now that Hossa is at $7.4 mil to keep a player of Zetterberg's caliber down as low as Pav's huge discount, but if anyone is that kinda guy, its Hank. Should be interesting when it comes time to pay Hank and Mule just how committed they are to keeping the winning at any cost trend going in Detroit. ON A SIDE NOTE: WE ARE SPOILED

I don't think there are many people who WANT Chelios to retire, but I think it may be time, though I personally would rather have him then Lilja or Lebda. But with the shrinking capspace, might be time to give Cheli an office next to Steve's and thank him for his time.

Fedorov with the Wings = Amazing + Greedy Fedorov post-Wings = Subpar + Overpaid I'll always be grateful for his years as a Wing and he was a main cog in getting us 3, but since his departure his game has been in the toilet and the Wings continued to have success (at least regular season). I'd like to see him redeem himself on his way out by taking what he can get in Washington, deserving no more than 2 mil, to play with young stars and maybe regain some ounce of former brilliance. I know whenever I see Fedorov play in the last couple years he seems uninterested and has had several nagging injuries. 2 year - $4mil contract with Washington, if thats what you are offered, take it Sergei.
-
Agree completely, especially with Milwaukee needing a team and Florida Panthers being a waste of a franchise.
-
Good point, but I was just trying to present similar circumstances, specifically going to the team that beat you. I wasn't too bitter after the Wings replaced him with Rafalski, and saw him as going home to LA, similarly Penguins fans should see Hossa leaving as no huge surprise. But it is a little salt in the wounds.
-
I completely understand, I didn't think too highly of Schneider when he went to the Ducks after that goon squad beat the Wings last season (same with Bertuzzi, but I always hated him and was more than grateful to see him leave). It stings a lot and I don't blame any Penguins fans for being bitter though it is true that he didn't owe the Penguins anything outside of what I've heard of him misleading, but that is par for the course in free agency, every where you go "you want to be", keeps your options open.

Since leaving the Red Wings, Fedorov has yet to have a positive +/- and he has averaged 13.6667 goals a season since the lockout. Compare that to what people project Filppula should earn as a developing player who is only gonna get better after scoring 19 goals and 36 pts, along side a +16. Fedorov should be thanking his lucky stars he has been making $6mil during his large slide instead of wishing for a better deal. He has plenty of money and he is in the twilight of his career, but his attitude hasn't changed. The sad thing is, with a better attitude, Fedorov could have had an even better career, but he blew it by following the all mighty dollar. It may just be his agent, but its not like he hasn't been here before. Where he goes from here speaks volumes to his legacy in the NHL.

Red Wings To Play Blackhawks In Winter Classic
b.shanafan14 replied to RedWingsFanatic's topic in General
Yeah, the outdoor game this past season was ruined by the shear fact that not only could I swear from the broadcast that Crosby was the only one playing, but probably invented the game of hockey all together. It was all a little too scripted that Crosby wins in a shootout outdoors in the "first" Winter Classic. :puke: -
I felt that went unnoticed.... discuss!

The difference between the Red Wings and the Penguins is this: he saw his Penguins team lose to the Red Wings, even with Hossa. Since the free agent period, the Penguins have lost a young power forward in Malone and their character guy in Roberts, and a back up goaltender that helped them out a great deal with Fluery went down. On the other hand, that same Red Wings team that handily defeated his Penguins have retained every piece of their championship team that has made a habit of winning and plays to his strengths.
-
Sergei has been living off a huge $6mil contract for years and hasn't earned any of it. He needed the Wings more than the Wings needed him, if you look at his stats since his departure they are pitiful compared to the money he was making. I liked Feds in his hay day just like the rest of you, but always out for the paycheck.
-
Now that Stuart is locked up, our defense is ridiculus. Now that Hossa is here for a year, our wingers are set. All thats left to do is sign Val Filpulla to center a dominant 2nd line. Please oh wise and powerful Ken Holland, get it done before the offer sheets come piling in.
-
Can't blame the guy. I was never a big fan of him but I respect the hell out of his skill. I'm glad he threw in the one liner regarding Milbury and crew, some of these talented players, Euros specifically, seem to never be good enough or do enough things right to stop dips***s like Milbury and Grapes from criticizing them. Pav got a raw deal for years too.
