Hey everyone. I think we have a few tech-savvy people around the boards and I was wondering if anyone knew how to save video from the Highlight machine on NHL.com. I know when aflac did the GDT he would have it available to download the previous games highlights. anyways, just wondering if anyone knows how its done. Be good for some of us making compilations or just interested in saving some plays. THANKS!

wow... this decision is.... wow.... reallly.... wow..... HERE'S TO THE DUCKS RESURGENCE LED BY BURKE AND NEIDERMEYER.... dumbs***s... Looks like St. Louis is tougher, though not all that much. Not too worried about it... I'm with you haroldsnepsts, better to watch Burke and the Ducks fall flat on their face time and time again this season, I'll take a slightly tougher Blues team!

Cold War II/Red Wings vs. Leafs Doubleheader !?!?!

Any help? please?...

Yeah, I thought that was pretty bad ass and I hope the continue to use it as frequently as they did tonite. Will definately help to clarify tips and deflections. Its irritating when the replay catches the frame before it hits a stick or skate and the one after so you're not sure what the hell happened. Also sweet to see plays like the Zetterberg goals and the stick flex and what not... coolsville

Red Wings 6 (Filppula x2, Dats, Hartigan x3) Oilers 2 (both off random Busch league goalie interference non-calls) Downey beats the piss outta Raffi Torres, Ozzy randomly pulls a "Noodles" McLellan, get thrown on the ice when the game is decided and kicks Roloson's ass for attempting to stop the Torres beat down. Hartigan wears Meech's #14 randomly and a helmet with the Ovechkin dark visor, upon getting his hat trick, he removes his helmet to reveal he is really Brendan Shanahan, taken in trade overnight by Kenny in secret. When McTavish complains, Shanny throws a Hadouken fireball straight outta Street Fighter towards the Oilers bench, causing 3rd degree burns to the entire Edmonton coaching staff as they do the required SF knocked into the air on fire and bouncing 3 times before coming to a rest on the ground behind the bench..... well, that wasted a good 5 minutes, what else can I do today....

this won't happen, so its a non-issue. This vote is purely for the starting lineup, and Luongo is going to win that one by a landslide. After that, the remaining players are picked on merit and team representation. As much as I would love to see Ozzy in the all-star game because he has thus far earned every bit of it, I don't think I see it happening since 3 Wings are already on course to being in the starting lineup (Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lidstrom). I doubt the league will allow 4 Red Wings on the ice for the all-star game, even though it would be badass to see how they stack up against the league's best. Of course the all-star game isn't as great for goaltenders anyways, since they basically just get shelled. I would love it if they did with Ozzy what they did with Marty Turco last year and had him mic'd up and talked to him during the game while he was in goal since Osgood is a real charismatic guy like Marty

Holland to start talks with Ozzie for a multi year extension
b.shanafan14 replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
I really, really don't want this thread to delude into another pissing contest between Ozzy and Dom supporter... I agree 100% that its too soon to decide for playoffs, but right now Osgood is unstoppable. That may change. As far as the team playing better in front of one than the other, its been said a million times, but the stats say otherwise. Ozzy is seeing many more shots than Dom per game and allowing much fewer goals, thus his save percentage second in the NHL. I've always said GAA is more of a team stat than a pure goaltender stat, but its hard to fake a .928 save percentage... Go Red Wings! Go Ozzy! 3 more years! -

^^ Great post, SouthernWingsFan ^^ Dom and Ozzy both have the same team in front of them. Can't say they play better in front of Ozzy cause he's sees more shots per game than Dom. Right now Ozzy's save percentage is second in the league. Why not lock up a guy for the next 3 years or so who has been consistently good his whole career who you could get relatively cheap and is a fan favorite? After Dom is gone, and if we plan on giving Howard the shot next year, who do you expect to acquaint Howard with the team and the NHL? Osgood is a consistent goaltender who now has a solid butterfly style and the veteran know-how to play effectively at No. 1 or backup, why pass on a guy like that? -
No thank you. Not a fit anymore, Rafalski took his place. Wouldn't want him back after he bolted to the Ducks anyways.

100% We all know Ozzy will take a discount, cause he loves being a Red Wing. But that doesn't mean you shaft the guy who has played his heart out and been a classy character and fan favorite just because he is willing to do it. -

Great news! Ozzy deserves a raise, though I don't see him asking for much. I really think Ozzy loves playing in Detroit and a multiyear contract at a reasonable price is his highest goal. I agree with an above poster, he has adapted his style to a solid butterfly and he is extremely confident in it, coming out to cut down angles. When he is in goal he seems not to scramble much at all, little wasted movement. Keep it up Ozzy! -
I agree, I went into exhausting detail in another thread, but the jist of it is that the NHL has T.O.ified Crosby to me, in the fact that I can't look at any hockey news without some mention of Sid the Kid, no matter what he had done. Malkin is the man, great hands, nose for open spots and a big body. Crosby is ruined by overexposure... I don't blame Crosby for that, and I don't blame him for being chosen as a third star either, the discussion isn't about hating Crosby, I believe its all about how much people are finally tired of hearing about him, no matter what he does. This is just another example, thats all....
-
There is already a few threads going around about Crosby and especially this Busch league 3rd star... but I agree completely.... I guess it goes: NHL POSTERBOY 2 assists > UMBERGER 3 goals + 2 assists...

this heated skates thing seems a little sci-fi and ridiculus to me. Did I miss something? Has hockey become that much harder to play that we have form-fitting jerseys, composite sticks with holes in them, and now canned-heat blades on their feet? Just play with regular god damn skates, jesus christ.....

I definately agree. Since the lockout, Bettman and the powers-that-be have forced this promotional movement to make the NHL appeal to the U.S. populace as a whole. This is all well and good in theory, but its the same thing with MLS (the soccer big-leagues). If a guy like me says "I don't like soccer, don't feel like trying to watch soccer, who gives a s***", this whole David Beckham coming to the U.S. to play thing seems like a joke, like chicks in Indy cars, or Annika Sorensten in the PGA. Its seen as good press and for the most part it is, but as far as moving a large majority of uninterested Americans to look in their TV guide for the next race, golf tourny, or soccer match I think its a bit naive to believe it actually works. Its the same with the Crosby thing. If the NHL is going to take off better in the states, they have to start by getting more airtime on the big networks and letting people stumble into hockey. Telling people "hey, we know you don't really like hockey, maybe have never really given it a shot, but two thursdays from now there is this young guy Crosby playing on Versus, it used to be the Outdoor Life Network, maybe you have it, maybe you don't, anyways the point is he is really good and young too, check him out." It may draw a small amount of fans to the game temporarily, but in my opinion it hurts the sport as a whole. While they try and try to appeal to what they think people who don't like hockey will like, they damage the game and those of us who love to watch it. This Crosby over-exposure thing is in the same spirit. As a person who is already a diehard fan of hockey, its basically like the T.O. stuff in the NFL. I'm not comparing them on a level of personality, cause god knows I hate T.O., but on the over-exposure. Going on TSN.ca or NHL.com or turning on Versus is like every SportsCenter I have watched in the last two years. Daily T.O. update, what did he do? Nothing. He is just still alive, doing sit ups in his driveway with press there, just thought you should know. What this over-exposure comes across as to someone like me who enjoys hockey without a gun to my head, is the equivalent of being force fed something whether I like it or not. We, the hockey fans, the only ones really watching have to put up with shameless over promotion so that some guy in Nashville will realize they actually have a hockey team. Its a bastardization of the sport and the NHL to pool media coverage around one individual who in the big picture isn't overwhelmingly important to the game, and certainly not bigger than it. I don't hold this against Crosby, but I think it only works to turn some hockey fans away from him. Spread the NHL news beyond Crosby, there are plenty of other great players out there............ I think I blacked out..... where am I?

hahaha yeah, this is probably the most ridiculus case of name leading to 3 star mention I've ever heard, how do you oust a guy who gets a hat trick unless 3 other guys get a hat + an assist or a goaltender posts a shutout on 35+ shots.... yeah, I've started to become more and more aware of the Crosby stigma... half of TSN.ca homepage is the damn Sid the Kid watch...
-
haha yeah, I saw that yesterday and posted a comment in another thread about it. "god Ken, why would you say something like that, now you're gonna jinx me. you can say that on the radio, this tv people are gonna see this. this one is on you tonite Ken"
-
this is ridiculus, but oh well. the appeal of Lidstrom is his pure mastery of the defensive position and in order to have true appreciation for it, you have to watch him night in, night out like we do. the casual voter is probably defaulting to who has the most points. ho hum
-
exactly, because it was interference, Ozzy should have had a shut out if the system worked. But the same system that allows these goals disallow goals and call Homer for interference when he is clearly neither in the crease or touching the goaltender. c'est la vie i guess
-
Congrats Ozzy! Great goaltender for years, never got the credit he deserved. He is playing like a man possessed and I love it. 14-1-1 on the season, best GAA in the league, up there in save %, and last night was unsolvable. I still believe he should have had his 2nd shutout and that goal should have been disallowed for interference, but Ozzy did what he does probably better than anyone, shake off a bad break and get back to work! GO OZZY!! 350 WINS, just keep rolling! They should update the scout reports on TSN.ca player profiles more often.... Flaws: Is no longer starter material. Still lets in soft goals on occasion. Has always had trouble with long shots. Career potential: No. 2 goaltender.

If Bettman stepped down as commissioner....
b.shanafan14 replied to CAredwingsfan91's topic in General
Well, if I had to vote on those candidates, Chelios all the way. But I'm still pulling for NHL Commisioner Brendan Shanahan, with NHL Detective Chris Chelios to handle any conspiracies. Of course since neither are retired yet, I have an empty beer bottle that could fill the spot admirably better than Bettman
