    12/10 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1

Included in the definition of a "stolen game" is not only being outplayed on the ice as a team, but the final tally in the win column. OZZY is my MVP so far this year, it was great seeing him play like a maniac after not playing for 3 games. If he keeps it up like I believe he can, I better see some Vezina votes. Of course, Dom is currently screwing up his bid for another shared Jennings (i believe that is a "team" GAA award, correct? as in, Ozzy having the best GAA couldn't win it himself)

    10 Wins in a Row

I think they are in a great position to do it, with them all at home against struggling teams. I would love them to get the record 10th straight because who doesn't like records, especially a team record for consecutive WINS. I want them to win everynight, but that just don't happen. As far as getting to the playoffs, where we stand, and what we accomplish: of course none of us will be satisfied with anything less than the Stanley cup, but I highly doubt any of you actually believe a first round loss equal to a loss in game 6 of the Conference finals. Last year we got an extra month+ of great playoff hockey. And the Red Wings, eventhough they came in top ranked, had to go through the three toughest teams in the playoffs, the Flames, the Sharks, and the Ducks, and they were a bounce, a call, and a flop away from putting the champs on the golf course. We watched Datsyuk step up after his contract, Lidstrom deny Grier on an empty net, Filppula blossom into a young star, and Dan Cleary become a bonified stud. Year before: we lose to a team of cheapshot artists while being heavily favored in the first round, leading to the retirement of the Captain and later the departure of Shanny. I hear what you're saying, and I understand, when it is all said and done, a year without the Cup is a disappointment. But I would rather enjoy an entire season and post season of success than nay say until the final minute of the clinching game of the finals. We are lucky enough to have a team thats in the mix every season. Imagine being a Toronto fan, or Bruins fan, or a 1970s Red Wings fan. We are lucky and should enjoy success as it comes. Wings win 11 straight! Go Wings!

    Would It Be Inappropriate?

I think you throw some money in the can and then ask them and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to. Wish I was in MI, I'd make a run by some of them, especially Flip and Franzen or Huds and Downey. Why doesn't Malts get a partner, cause Drapes can't stand that long

    Rafalski, a defensive liability?

I've been starting to worry about Rafalski a bit, too. However, his good far outways his bad. That and Schneider had the same problem, only a bit worse. I would like to see Raffi improve tho

    12/10 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1

Osgood played like a ******* wall. I'm still furious they allowed that bogus shorty goal, the guy was tangled up with Ozzy. We all know that if Homer's skate even looks close to the pant in the crease, goals are disallowed and he is sent the box. More frustrating was that my Center Ice feed at FSN South, the Preds homer announcers, made every scrum sound like a damn revolution, and when the shorty goal happened, they just ended up saying "you know, thats what you have to do to beat Chris Osgood, one guy lays in the crease and the other slides the puck under", like it was the greatest damn thing in the world...... I'm giving Osgood the unofficial shutout, that shorty was a Busch as they come.... Ozzy's night: 31 saves, 1 bs goal allowed, .9688 save %
  6. exactly, from the minute Shanny dawned the Winged wheel he was a leader who put the team first. He has slowed down over the years, but give me Shanny's leadership plus his quick release and onetime ability anyday

    Just HOW good is Nick?

Nick is quietly the best defenseman of his generation. Similar to the way Pavel and Hank are just now getting the attention they have earned for years. Red Wings are a classy organization, top to bottom. Lidstrom, like Yzerman before him, personafies that trait. Quiet, polite, humble guy. Never on the giving end of dirty hits or too much shooting off at the mouth. But at the end of the season, the Norris Trophy goes to Niklas Lidstrom, this is his 9th nomination and 6th win.... booya

NHL needs to return to ESPN

It sucks because I hate to go crawling to ESPN since they don't give NHL but one clip on Sportcenter a week, probably to meet their 1 per week quote to remain the worldwide leader in sport or whatever they call themselves but if the NHL is gonna start to reach the masses, there will definately have to be a deal somewhere along the lines with ESPN. Even if the casual fan wants to watch hockey, is the old Outdoor Life Network, now Versus going to seem like the place to look? Vs. plays a couple hockey games a week, but if you don't have a local provider like FSN Detroit, you are SOL for a casual hockey fix
  9. Shanny for sure. That was his best season in Detroit and I'm pretty sure he lead the team in goal scoring. I would take present day Shanny back too tho, cause of his scoring touch. He can still produce with a good set up center. He had the game winner in a 1-0 overtime win vs. NJ tonite

    12/9 GDT: Red Wings 5, Hurricanes 2

'Canes can score in bunches, but they haven't seen a Niklas Lidstrom lead defense yet this season, so we'll see how that goes. Carolina can't contain DZH line or any combo of them separated. Wings spread the 'Canes too thin, get them frustrated and get the victory... Wings 4 (Holmstrom [2], Filpulla, Rafalski) Hurricanes 1 (Williams)

    In-game mics

I agree, really the only thing we actually enjoy is when the mic gets a little too close in scrum situations and you get to hear whats really going on, but thats stuff networks can't air, so its pretty pointless. In the NFL they mic up a guy who plays half the game and when he isn't in the game he is hooting and hollering about something, so they can sift through the profanity and find something wholesome, yet interesting. Hockey for some reason doesn't translate to that, or they aren't micing theright guys or doing it well enough

    OFFICIAL: Niedermayer returns to Ducks

haha still at it I see..... for someone who is above such banter, you're sure capable of some long winded ramblings, most exclusively centered around how you kick our little whiny ***** asses at life... hahaha seriously, misplaced agression is usually caused by sodomy by a close relative, maybe you should talk it out with someone instead of bitching to no end about how others shouldnt ***** so much. If you really aren't amused anymore, leave the thread to its original intent, that being the outlet for people to share OPINIONs about said turn of events without threat of someone with rose scented s*** "embarrassing" them. I mean afterall.....

    enough is ENUFF! Crosby

Didn't like him his rookie year, don't mind him too much these days and he has done a lot for the popularity of the sport, eventhough i think other stars with the same attention could have done the same..... that said, I am sick of constantly hearing about Crosby. Countless TV specials, interviews, commercials, webpage articles, etc have gone a little far.... but thats sports for you, find something the people like and then play it out until everyone hates it, then move on to the next thing

hahaha you are such a hardass its hilarious! get a hobby outside of "calling people out" on hockey boards haha

    OFFICIAL: Niedermayer returns to Ducks

haha not exactly the response I was expecting, looks like someone might need some downers to help deal with their "mommy" issues.... I never said anything about it being a conspiracy or unfair, I said it was s***ty of Niedermeyer to do to his team and remarking at how ridiculus it is that analyst thing this is going to make a struggling Ducks team into world beaters.... My point exactly..... one player returning with such fanfare is hilarious and sickening, the kind of stuff you see around Ricky Williams in the NFL... hockey doesn't need it, but that was tremendously masculine of you

    OFFICIAL: Niedermayer returns to Ducks

I agree on both counts here and I'm glad that I'm not the only one who feels this way. Never been a fan of Niedermeyer, and this little hiatus was pretty selfish and ridiculus. One, the guy is 34 friggin' years old, what a ***** and takes 1/3 of a season to decide if he'll play again, big friggin' whoop. Now he is returning to a team with a full blown case of the Stanley Cup hang over and which no matter what they do or how he plays, now they have to make room for him this year and next year in the cap and move newly acquired talent, and here's the kicker, he might not even play next year! Its hilarious to me that it is such a big deal, I'd tell him to get f***ed and enjoy the rest of my losing season. And Melroses take, literally a 20 second clip on ESPN in which he utters the words "the Ducks get back the best defenseman in the NHL".... hold on one second..... :vomit: IMO players like this ruin the NHL and turn their career desicions into selfish fanfare that distracts from the game to feed their high-paid egos, and the fact that players the take cuts or hometown discounts and are class acts don't get near the attention of one player who decided to wait half a season to help his team, and now forces them to screw around with established salaries.....

wanna watch all NHL(Red Wings) games online free?

that and the fact that because NHL Network loves the damn Wings so much, I fork out $140 for Center Ice that only plays %70 of the damn games. Nothing is more frustrating than when there is 3 days between games and then, last minute, the game I've been excited and anticipating turns out to be Blacked Out for some channel that only works for DirecTV customers in my area. That should not constitute the black out..... god I get furious just thinking about it....

    Awesome one haha

    12/7 GDT: Red Wings 5, Wild 0

YES, can you please! I hate NHL Network, I swear about 1/3 of the games have been on there, makes me wonder why I'm shelling out for Center Ice when it is made useless by what Time Warner Cable believes to be a ficticious channel..... PLEASE POST THE LINK, we beg you.... "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope" On a lighter note, Wings allow 18 shots to their 39 Scores coming from Franzen, Kronwall, Datsyuk, and Filpulla (empty net) Scores coming from Gaborik and a Wild blueliner Wings 4-2

Odds of detroit making a blockbuster?

We are about a third of the season in and others are starting to roll. My point is that they have had what it takes, and last year should have beat Anaheim but for some bounces, a bad call, and Dom playing like a cardboard cutout in the elimenation game. Hate to be the "stay the course" guy, but I don't believe that adding another name to roster and giving up more picks and prospects is the answer, and certainly not giving up any of our current stars. I have never liked the idea of the rental player you hope produces for a couple months and throwing away a player that could be stupendous in the future. Last year was a definate learning experience for the current roster and I believe if you keep the core intact, the team as a whole will step up. We can't expect to Wings to win the cup every year, as spoiled as we are we have to believe the group we have organized has the tools to get the job done.

Odds of detroit making a blockbuster?

Wings don't need a blockbuster trade. No reason to screw with chemistry just because we have some dough lying around, cause god knows it won't just be money. I like our prospects and we can't keep shipping them out and the current lineup is fine in my eyes. The Wings have had what it takes to win the cup for 16 years, its just a game of bounces sometimes. Naslund would be great, but who is Vancouver gonna want in return? I say the trade deadline is for tweeking role players and 4th line or 6th defensemen, we don't need a walking, talking, high-paid name we will either get rid of next season and be down a prospect for our trouble or someone we have to worry about keeping with more important contracts expiring. Need a place to put your dough come the deadline? Make an international call and get Dan Markov back.

Hall-of-Famer Lindsay blames Bettman for loss of fans

Well said, Ted.... exactly what Bettman has tried to do for years. Use teams like Detroit to carry the struggling hockey markets. Hockey is healthy in Detroit, Montreal, and Toronto, so no need for them to be playing each other too often... Imagine if we got to see Montreal at least twice a year? That game was a great one to watch because of all the emotion evoked, and thats purely from tradition and atmosphere. That one game against a traditional rival with no recent bad blood was more exciting then every Wings-Blues game we'll see this year combined....

    Greatest Sports Movie

.... and Definately switch the order on most of those.... and I did really like Mystery Alaska, eventhough the concept was ridiculus, and the Mighty Ducks, even though Burke is ridiculus

THN says Lidstrom best European player

I agree completely, I had posted previously in this thread along the same lines about scoring vs. defensive play But at least we are on the same page
