    Bertuzzi a Duck: 2-Years, $8M

    Bravo, I agree 100%

player list of whos still available

though Souray is pretty overrated, I liked his size and his cannon and his defense over rafalski's speed and touch, but i suppose it fits more with the Wings style of play...

    Flames sign Owen Nolan

damn... I wanted the Wings to get Nolan, he would have fit nice and provided some more grit that everyone keeps bitching about... and I really don't want Billy Guerin, I'm with Ashenden, never really liked the guy, thought he was really over rated and often overpaid. Just doesn't seem to fit in the Wings scheme... We better get Slava Kozlov or I'm gonna go F***in' nuts...

    Bertuzzi a Duck: 2-Years, $8M

I've been saying it: we don't need Bertuzzi. He's been hurt on and off for years and didn't prove a thing to me when he came here. I would have given him $2.5. since he ain't proven he can play since he was in Vancouver. People say we've lost any grit we've had. I see it as cutting the fat off our remaining capspace. Outside of a quick, easy throwing of Phaneuf, Bertuzzi didn't play all too physical and without showing anymore than Lang, he gets the same treatment, and I'm fine with that. Now whats done is done and we can concentrate on our goalie situation and our pick of plenty of more than capable forwards who are plenty more of a steal then Bertuzzi. Let those who have money throw it around and waste it locking up risky players for too much dough. The Wings will sign smart, thats how its always been. Cleary blossomed, Draper was $1, Cheli's career was circling the drain... There are still plenty of great names out there without the press, pay, and baggage of the Brieres, Smyths, or Drurys. We can take care of Hasek (eventhough I would prefer someone more solid), resign Markov, bag Kozlov, and we will still have plenty of money to sign another solid forward if need be (though I'm bummed to read Nolan went to Calgary). We'll be bringing up Grigorenko, Filpulla will have a break out year, and everything will be fine. NO NEED TO PANIC EVERYONE

definately agree with F.Michael on signing Anson Carter... :puke: Pass, Pass, and more pass on that one, give me Kozlov and I'll be happy... Could get Slava Kozlov and if we needed another forward, Owen Nolan would be dirt cheap

    Peca?

I'm with BeeRYCE: we need vyecheslav kozlov! If the wings get kozlov they could run what I think would be two dominant lines -- Zetts-Dats-Homer & Slava-Flip-Franzen... of course Zetts and Kozlov would be interchangeable if you have a thing for pairing up the Rushkis

    Peca?

I hated Bertuzzi, we brought him in, and I had to swallow it. Lets not do it to me again and bring in a d-bag like Mike Peca

Why do people say we need a 2nd line center?

i recently took the time to bring everyone on the current team in via trade in NHL 06, except I gave Lang the boot and signed much rumored Slava Kozlov. To be completely honest, I like how the team rolls: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Kozlov-Filppula-Frazen Bertuzzi-Hudler-Samuellson Cleary-Draper-Maltby Of course I kept the D pairings as is, eventhough from the looks of it that ain't happening. And I'm well aware that is just a game and ideal, but is it really so far fetched, especially if the cap goes to $50m-$51m??

    Shanahan

Shanny will not be a Wing next year. I would love to think so, and its great to think he would like to retire a Red Wing where he had such great success and made so many great memories, but I acknowledge that its just not probable. That being said..... I think that after we send Lang and Calder packing, that would open up some spots, more likely for Huds and Kopecky, but no matter how much I dislike Bert and maintain that I haven't seen anything from him that makes him worth keeping him around, I think a Dats-Flip-Homer first line with a Zetts-Bert-Shanny kicker would be interesting as hell. A guy can dream, can't he?

What a crock of ... It

the fact of the matter is this: relatively even game, eventhough Versus loves to give the Ducks the courtesy reach-around. 2nd goal was legitimately in, just couldn't tell before going to the video. 3rd goal however should have been ruled no goal. Dom had the puck on his lap out of goal. Duck player, without a trip or force of any kind dives into the crease, colliding with Dom, effectively pushing Dom and the puck over the line. I guess it is a bit ridiculus when games are decided on bad calls like this. And for all you Duck fans, this goes outside of the realm of an ugly, legitimate goal. Funny how Dom can get mowed down, rabbit punched by deuche bags like one Andy McDonald, have bogus interfering goals like the game tier and yet because Tomas effectively and legally blocks the line of sight of the opposition's goaltender, the Wings get the stigma of a team that is overly physical with the goaltender. Someone explain this. On a brighter note, the series is still tied and we have to get one in the Pond. Go Wings....

    First Round MVP

Cleary: Absolutely flawless, phenominal play. scrummed like a champion, impressed all with quick bursts that led to chances and goals. Hit like he was twice his size and was part of the group that made the Calgary power play a non-factor in the victories Lidstrom: As always, precise and dominant play. I smell Conn Smythe if this thing goes far. Few mistakes, but still the best defenseman in the NHL by a wide margin. Chelios: Dug, rushed, blocked shots, and checked like he was 20. Played smart, smart, SMART defense the whole series. In my opinion, equally as impressive as Nik with some old school style points. Can't say enough about his first round play. Filppula: Good to see him getting more minutes, he definately earned them and played great. Huge goals, made great chances, and can hold onto the puck with the best of them. Style of play reminicent of Steve in how he skates and digs. Franzen was great, which was no huge surprise. Lilja played great, HUGE SURPRISE. Lang played like crap outside of a few professional plays Sunday. Schneider played hard nosed hockey, which is what the wings need. Datsyuk played great, and Zetterberg successfully shook off the cobwebs of his injury. In my opinion, the first round MVP goes to CLEARY and CHELIOS. Both effectively stepped up their play and made a huge impact on the series.

    Shanahan seeking a 2-yr deal at $5M/season

this is a very sh***y situation. on one hand, the Wings are down the greatest leader the sport has ever known with Yzerman retiring, thus the need for Shanny more and more, they also have the fact that for the last decade Brendan has been a fan favorite and overall clutch for the organization, I mean you look at his preformance in the Wings Stanley cup years and he did amazing for us. But, before everyone goes nuts about me mentioning the past when it means exactly d**k now, I have to say: Shanahan asking for $5 Mil is shameful, him getting $4 Mil from the Wings sucks, but when we stop and think about it, who the hell are the Wings to push a $2.5 Mil contract at him in the first place? Holland thought that since the greats like Yzerman, Shanny, and others took a cut after the lockout, that was going to be things from now on, business as usual without the price tag. How much are the other 40 goal, 80 point producers making this year? I know a lot of people are going to shout about needing younger players and need to start from scratch but we have to consider the fact that in the old days, we didn't have to worry about how much a player was getting paid, just that he laced them up and kicked ass for us. Things are different now and there is a cap, which prevents the kind of dream team making with the Wings that our generation has grown accustom to. Literally the second the Wings were outta the playoffs, people must have started huffing whatever was under the sink, making wish lists of players they wanted to see on the Wings. I laughed at the fact that what people were putting up on the forum weren't replacements here and there, but full on new rosters of players that could never fit in the cap. People are naive to the fact that new eras don't happen over night, they go through a very long and very sh***y transition period. 42 years the Wings went without a cup and screamed for change. I bet most people bitched when they first picked up an 18 year old, hot shot kid they thought was too young and small, and probably bitched more 3 years later when he was the Captain of the team. I mean in the end, I wish that Brendan would have gone for $3 Mil, I think he deserved at least that and to tell you the truth I think that, if up front, Holland would have made Shanny feel needed and wanted back by giving him more than a .22 Mil raise for his play in this past season, we wouldn't have to hear this ridiculous $5 Mil proposal which I can almost guarantee he doesn't get. It sucks because we all watch Federov get booed, I've been to a Red Wings game in Columbus and he was getting booed at home, when in the end, I never blamed him for the situation, I blamed management. It sucks that Shanny is old, slow, and doesn't use his size the way we got used to in his youth, especially the last couple years come playoff time. I am pissed he got greedy but at the same time I feel like Holland blew the big one on signing him earlier for less. I love Datsyuk, but lets pose this question: where the hell has Pavel been in the playoffs since we picked him up? If Shanahan comes back next season, I welcome him and blame management. If Shanahan goes elsewhere, I thank him sincerely for the last decade which has been a complete honor watching him and Steve play together, and wish him the best whereever he finds himself. And, as someone else said earlier, I would be disgusted if fans boo'd him when against the Wings like they do Feds.
