Dumbest rule ever. Just more powerplays for the sake of powerplays. They need to at least modify the rule to be about the free hand. In the case of the game the night, Pavel still had both hands on the stick, fell down in the scrum and sweeping at the puck, it hit his glove. That play was not in the spirit of the rule, caused a 5-on-3, and destroyed what was great competition to that point in the game. A penalty like that does not belong in hockey.

There has to be something going on behind the scenes. So many obvious problems with the line combos that are suddenly immovable. Babcock usually isn't afraid to change typically good lines on a whim mid-game if things aren't working, and yet something that has had zero success like that line don't even consider another look? Hmmmm.... -

Are you counting Franzen among the missing scorers? I do agree that the team has looked good considering they still aren't playing with a full lineup, but some of our best players are replacements which will be demoted in Tatar and Anderson. We are better with the injured parties back, in theory, but some of these kids are showing how out of place relics like Samuelsson and Cleary are. -

The game is hard enough without wasting great efforts from Zetterberg Datsyuk and Brunner on wingers like Cleary Abdelkader and Franzen. Terrible. Once you factor in the play of guys like Tatar, Anderson, Eaves, and Tootoo on the lower lines, its astounding that Babcock refuses to give different looks in the top-6. -

Fun fact: Tatar has as many goals, assists, and points as Cleary and Abdelkader combined, is +3 instead of the combined -9, and has done so playing 5 minutes less per game in 8 less games, without the best player in the game centering. -

Datsyuk needs someone who can shoot, and Zetterberg and Brunner need someone to get out of the way. Move Franzen to Pavel's wing. Demote Cleary and Abdelkader, promote Tatar. -
