    4/5 GDT : Devils 2 at Red Wings 1

I wonder how many games in the last month or two we started behind by a goal or two. I wonder what our shot differential is in the first period? Even tonight, the Wings started well in the first 5 minutes, then dropped off. Tonight, 6-11 in the first before pouring it on the second, 14-4; turning it around right? Third period, 4-6. Four shots in the third period. 4. Four

Another disappointment... this team is consistently lackluster. Some good chances, Filppula, Zetterberg, and Datsyuk looked good, but everyone else, meh... Just not clicking right now, and times just about run out to get things to work. So many lost battles and soft play in the corners. With the extra skater, Zetterberg battling off 3 Devils along the boards, Hudler and the others watching from 10 feet away. Trying to stay optimistic, but this is about as cold as I've seen the Wings enter the post-season. Does not bode well...

    Welcome Back Mule!

Remove his 5 goal game vs. Ottawa last season, and Franzen was a 22 goal-scorer. Think about that: 5 of 27 came in 1 of 82.

Haha Word. Here's hoping, with Quincey's one-game suspension behind us, last night was the last we've seen of Kindl.

    Welcome Back Mule!

Egg-zak-ry. Mule showed us how he's scored his goals all year, and why he should have WAY more. Two amazing plays from Pavel that he managed to bury. Afterwards, with two goals in his pocket, THAT'S when he finally started to show the hands and drive that lead many of us to believe that he SHOULD be a 40-goal scorer if he actually applied himself for more than about 20-30 games. Riding shotgun with Pavel like he has been all season, he should be able to bury more. Skating and being strong on the puck - like he was in the last 5 minutes of the 3rd and OT last night - consistently, he should be able to bury more.

    Welcome Back Mule!

We really are that bi-polar, aren't we? Let's not get ahead of ourselves. From what I saw last night, Franzen only looked good the second half of the third period, and that's NOT because of the goals. The goals themselves, while great shots with a nice finish, were both the result of absolutely marvelous plays from Datsyuk; Franzen was just waiting in the weeds. I honestly thought he started to look great AFTER the two goals, making moves and hanging onto the puck. Before that, he was as invisible as he has been. Definitely some encouraging things from Mule last night, but he's always had that capability. Its the consistent effort that's the issue. A step forward, but 2 gifts, a good 5 minutes in the 3rd period and great OT does not a Mule's return make Two games left in the season, its good to be optimistic, but lets try to keep our feet on the ground...

4/4 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Blues 2 (SO)

Datsyuk turned up the skill and had St. Louis on their heels for the latter half of the third period, but I don't think he is back to his game speed yet. I could tell he was struggling to make moves and handle battles most of the game. Since he has been back, including tonight, he has gone down way easier than he ever has in the past. Seems to me his still favoring his knees, at least as far as being very cautious. Two great moves and passes from Pavel on the goals, and several great plays throughout the night, but he's not quite 100% yet. We're seeing Pavel on about 8, not 11. Game speed not withstanding, when in doubt, refer to this ^

When Kindl was shown his seat after the second Blues goal, that clumsy son-of-a-***** must have bumped the PLAYOFF SWITCH!

FILPPULA... ugh... shoot the puck! Passing on every opportunity for a third move or a forced pass. Boys need some confidence.

White and Kindl on the powerplay = shinpads, shots high and wide, or shorty

f*** Kindl on the Powerplay. f*** him in the ass. How you going to drop the puck at the attacking blueline with a player on you and no one between you and your 'tender. So sick of shorties.

There has been a lot of clutching, grabbing, and body-slamming that ain't been called. Kronwall getting yanked down by the neck from behind, a couple shots on Filppula, and a handful of cross-checks I saw Nyquist getting from Arnott away from the play. Wings haven't played bad, just need to play smarter. Kindl and White have been awful tonight, especially the former. Ericsson hasn't been bad (knock on wood).

    Milbury slams Blysma and Crosby

http://watch.tsn.ca/featured/clip651491#clip651491 Milbury backs down, hopefully the same doesn't happen with Flyers' assistant coach Craig Berube (link above). Again, calling them as he sees them: Crosby and Malkin get away with more slashes, cross-checks, elbows, and sucker-punch bulls*** than anyone in the league. Never penalized for the s*** they do, and yet Crosby is always at the center of complaining to officials and media, a shove he received is the topic discussion more so than all the slashes and s*** he got away with. Like Milbury said "Crosby gets cross-checked, big whoop".
