Shots are 5-14 BJs....... let that sink in.... Hopefully Babcock is more vocal in the intermission than he was in the timeout. GO WIIINGGGGS!

Wake up, for f*** sake. Get pucks deep, quit hitting the skates 12 feet in front of you. No get something going on the powerplay for once.

Conklin, and even Mac sometimes, stands up or jumps to get high, harmless shots and it always results in a juicy rebound or pop fly like that goal. Howard does it too, but handles it softly and freezes it. Conklin titty bumps the puck and then plays "which way did it go".

I gave up on GameCenter Live a few seasons ago. Good quality when its on, but the Blackouts are infuriating.

Don't like Emmerton in the lineup over Mursak. Nyquist will do fine on the 4th line, just seems like a waste. Lets see how Mule does tonight. I feel like he saw the stat-padding going on last game and felt like he was missing out playing his own doctor, he finally decides to join the fray facing the same lowly team as the last beat-down (I'm being way to cynical, I know haha). GO WINGS! Red Wings 5 - 2 Blue Jackets Zetterberg and Filppula with 3 point combined Datsyuk with goal and assist Franzen with a gimme off the work of Pavel.

    Quincey vs. Stuart

I wish Stuart luck out West, but I feel for the guy, considering he was knocked around the league a lot the years prior to landing in Detroit and he seems to have found that ideal environment here. Really unfortunate that he'll have to give that up, most likely for good. Family first, great guy; hope he gets cheered at the Joe, even if he is wearing teal. I think Holland should qualify an offer to Quincey around $3mil a year with a few years term. He has played decent, but I'm not completely sold yet. At that price he either signs and stays or possibly signs an offer sheet, in which case the Wings would be due compensation in the form of 1st and 3rd round picks if they let him walk (based on the price point). http://thehockeywriters.com/2011-12-nhl-rfa-compensation-rules/

    Wings or Blues

It all has to do with the goaltenders in this situation. I wouldn't say the Wings are the clear favorite by any means. Otherwise, your analysis had good points. The Red Wings forwards when they are healthy with some rest (like they are now) have to be in conversation with best in the league; Blues don't have much answer for Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Filppula, not to mention if Franzen starts playing like he means it. The Wings defense on paper is great, but has been prone to several game-breaking miscues; unfortunately for the Blues, most of said miscues occurred when the "Lidstrom factor" was negated by injury. You can't discount experience, especially since this is essentially the Blues first rodeo. Coaching is definitely a wash; two great ones in Babcock and the Hamburglar. Looking at goaltending, the Blues have the clear advantage, considering both the strong play of Halak and Elliot and the injury to Howard. Will Howard be prepared after missing time? Will the defense insulate him enough for him to get his "sea legs"? Elliot is playing on fire, but Halak has been there before and excelled. The Blues pairing could easily be seen as comparable to Hasek and Osgood in 2008, with Osgood being the better goaltender all season (Elliot) while the call went to Hasek, the guy with more historical/perceived success (Halak). Either goaltender has the Blues as the envy of the league going into it, but playoffs are a whole different monster, especially with goaltenders. Some thrive when most think they wouldn't; more tend to fail when the lights get bright. A switch midstream worked for a hungry and experienced 2008 Red Wings team, it might not for this years Blues.

    Z The Beast

Agree with both points, screw Joe Thornton and keep injuries on the DL. Although, from the sounds of it, Hank's ankle is more or less completely healed, which is why he is willing to drop that little nugget. I do think it makes him a bit of a target for cheap s*** from the Thorntons, Keslers, Talbots, Johnsons, etc etc... in the league(seriously, there are a lot of cheapshot artists that have squeaky clean reputations among the media because head shots are the focus). And it does take next to nothing to re-aggravate an ankle. Either way, lets hope its 100% and remains so throughout the playoffs.

    Z The Beast

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2012/03/red_wings_henrik_zetterberg_re_1.html From the sounds of it, Z has been nursing an ankle injury, probably for a good portion of the season. Looks like with the rash of injuries Z had no choice but to heal on the fly. What a guy... the bold part is pretty telling of the direness of the injury to Datsyuk, as well as the guts of Hank

Nordiques Nation coming to the Joe

Should be interesting. I appreciate what you folks are doing, even if it is for the lowly Nordiques Good luck, spend money, and try not to distract too much from the two Original Six teams playing.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?id=39245 For those watching the standings every day (like I know we all are) TSN.ca has the above Stretch Drive standings page. It allows you to see not only where each team sits, but also who their remaining games are against, as well as which are home or away.

    Quincey vs. Stuart

If it was possible, the Wings would keep Stuart indefinitely. He's been a rock. If Stuart could get his family to migrate to Detroit, Stuart by all accounts would love to stay with this team and continue to enjoy high-level teammates and stability in a franchise second-to-none in how they treat their personnel. Unfortunately, it looks like the stars won't be aligning for the Wings and Stuart. It really is a shame. Completely understandable, but its gonna sting for both parties to end a great working relationship. I'd hate to be Stuart having regrets watching the Wings excel when he ends up in LA or San Jose.

    Nyquist needs to stay here

While I'm not completely hating on Bertuzzi, we need to look beyond one game. Bertuzzi last night was stellar; really strong on the puck, great passing, and skating. Last night, he was the total package. But that was last night. If he could prove to maintain that level of compete and execute all season or even half of the season, I would agree with you completely. However, he and Mule have had more nights than not where they are benefactors not contributors. Playing with Datsyuk when he is on is a wingers dream. Lately its been great to see someone who skates hard and is willing to handle the puck in traffic, and that has been Nyquist. I agree with kipwinger, the tendency is to get high on the young talent and think they should be top-line, top-minute right away. Its also the tendency to see stats like 4pt, +5 from Bert or 5 goal nights from Franzen and say "ZOMG!! They are dominant and irreplaceable!", neglecting to mention the fact that they disappear for weeks on end, offering next to no intangibles when they aren't creating scoring opportunities, and their effort is often questioned. Lets not get too high on the youngsters, but lets not confuse one good night for consistency. Take away Franzen's insane 5 goal game against the Senators last season and he scored 22 goals.
