    Crosbys first 50 goal season

I would love to 'See Stamkos' win the Rocket Richard.

Yzerman "History Will Be Made" Commercial

I get how the commercial works, I'm just saying the focus was so much on the dog pile end of the frantic celebration and they rewound too quickly. Coupled with about 5 changes in camera during the sequence the commercial just seems like its all over the place to me. I like it, just think they could have done a little better. Maybe I'm just a little picky.

    Lidstrom

Lidstrom will definitely be back next season.... which is exactly what I'll be saying to myself 5 years from now when I'm rocking back and forth in a padded room, having lost it and retreated to an imaginary world where #5 plays for the Red Wings forever. But seriously, he'll be back.

Here you go. They clipped it and sped it up weird tho, I'm not a huge fan of it. Should have shown the initial shot and then dialed it back.

    Colorado Avalanche

Like others, I liked how the Avs were playing this season, before their slide. The rivalry is completely dead as far as I'm concerned. I hope they regain their form from earlier in the season and they do some damage against SJ.

Exactly. Though this thread is two kinds of people, Red Wings' fans and Osgood haters. I'm the former. I just hate when the latter dismisses any kind of explanation as being in some Osgood cult. I support both goaltenders and the better they BOTH do the better the team is and the happier I am. Go Osgood one of the best Wings of all-time and Go Howard this team is yours now, make us proud!

    4/6 Important Games

Pretty much this. I've been pulling for the Avs over Flames cause I hate the Flames and I'd love to see them miss the playoffs. But the more I think of it, Colorado isn't going to do squat. At least if the Flames lose we'll get to see the goon-fest on the Sharks. Go Calgary (yuck), Go Ducks (yuck), Go Canucks (yuck).... I just feel dirty now...

    1-7-2

Exactly. As soon as Osgood was slated to play today we all knew it was going to happen. Either Osgood would somehow incredibly win against all odds or we would suffer another crucifixion as if there had been some argument as to who was the better goaltender. We got the latter.

The funny thing about it that you don't seem to get (and very insecurely dismiss any with differing opinions as Osgood slappies) is that unlike Howard, those last ten starts ARE Osgood's season. He has never been a backup and he is trying to learn how at 37yo and yet all these "fans" are quick to bust his balls after not starting for over two months. We get it, Osgood isn't great anymore. Did you expect him to be given the circumstances? Howard is the better goaltender, period. But he shouldn't have to play every single damn game his rookie season, he needed the rest. Unfortunately for Osgood, that's all he has been used for this season. For a giggle, we should look at Howard's stats playing the first of the back-to-backs where Osgood has played the second. Does it make you a Howard slappy if you say its because he is tired vs. Osgood's rusty?

You're hilarious I love how whenever someone posts objective observations that shatter the misconceptions of certain people, ie you thinking Howard is fine in losing a game that Osgood isn't, all of a sudden someone is an Osgood slappy. Classic. People need to calm down with the stupid knee-jerk "OsSUCKS is horrible FML!" BS and look at the games he has played, simple as that. No one is arguing the Osgood is better than Howard or as good as Howard, so dry your eyes. But people who honestly think any 37yo goaltender who hasn't played for two months would have won that game are kidding themselves. Osgood hasn't been in a position to play well since November and he hasn't played well, period. But don't say Howard's loss yesterday was any better than Osgood's loss today. It wasn't.

Comparing Osgood's starts to Howard's starts this season is comparing apples to oranges. Osgood hasn't started in over two months. OVER TWO MONTHS. Howard has been allowed to play his hot streak with continuous plays while 37yo Osgood has been put out in the cold since November, only playing the second of back-to-back games with a line-up that is depleted and/or tired. The Wings played like crap, they deserved to lose, they lost, period. Howard has had a few rocky starts lately as well, but the team has played great when he has an off night. Against Nashville yesterday they were gifted a point thanks to Datsyuk. Against Edmonton they were probably headed for another shootout loss before Stuart's probably-high-stick goal in the last minutes, after blowing a 4 goal lead. I get it, I do. You're bummed the Wings lost and you don't like Osgood, life's a ***** and then you die. But Osgood's W-L are not helped by the team's effort or the fact that he was basically retired early by Babcock in favor of Howard. Howard is a far superior tender right now, but its because he has been allowed to be. Osgood didn't lose this game, despite the very soft first goal and whether Howard would have had the 3rd goal is the only debatable point, he wouldn't have had the 2nd off a 4 on 2 or the 4th off a horrible defensive lapse. Basically all you've managed to do is say our 37yo backup goaltender who averages one start every fourteen games since November, always second of back-to-back, has had a terrible record. That sounds about right, way to go statistician.

Yeah, Babcock has yet to prove himself a truely great coach in my eyes because of decisions like this. Why in the world would you ever scratch Lilja for Lebda against a team like Philly, especially given how terrible Ericsson and Lebda are together? I swear, sometimes I think he is just guessing.

    Osgood to start Sunday

Would we have won that if Howard was in net on the second of a back-to-back with the team giving up 10 odd man rushes after he hadn't seen game action in over 2 months? No. And honestly, Howard needed a break and hasn't looked great in his last couple starts either. The team played like s***, the team deserved to lose, the team lost. Period.

4/4 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Flyers 4

Lighten up. He should have definitely had the first one, but as usual the team played like crap in front of him. 3 of the 4 goals were complete defensive lapses. Not to mention he is a 37yo goaltender who hasn't seen a start in over two months and hasn't seen a start that wasn't with a tired and uninspired team in front of him on the second of a back-to-back since about November. Not even Howard would have had the 2nd or 4th goals, probably not the 3rd either. There are about 12 players ahead of Osgood on the blame train this time around.

Well, bad loss for the Wings. Bad weekend in all. Completely uninspired play both today and yesterday. Played soft and deserved to lose. Am I the only one worried that after the hot streak to get into the playoff the Wings are once again content with mediocrity? Lets hope not...

Through 2 periods, the Wings look like s***. The defense looks lackadaisical out there, the forwards have been making soft, stupid passes leading to turnovers, and Osgood has gotten no help for being a 37yo goaltender who has sat for more than two months.

Bad game for the Wings, thanking their lucky stars for a point. Absolutely sloppy everywhere.

Does this year prove that hockey doesnt belong in phoenix?

If the Wings are their match up in the first round its going to throw that whole theory off. DRW transplants are the only ones that attend Pheonix-Detroit games as it is. I think that its great what the team is doing, but they are playing to empty seat every night so what is the point? Vacate Arizona and vacate Florida, waste of hockey on people who aren't drinking the Koolaid and the competitiveness of the teams are lacking because of it. We are literally burying franchises in the states.

    Top 10 Red Wings

    1. Yzerman 2. Lidstrom 3. Datsyuk 4. Fedorov 5. Zetterberg 6. Shanahan 7. Osgood 8. Konstantinov 9. Holmstrom 10. Larionov As with others, I had trouble defining "top" Red Wings, so I went on overall impact on the team. Yzerman and Lidstrom are non-negotiable at the top, but could be interchangeable considering Yzerman had a lot of his better seasons in the 80s and Lidstrom took about 4-5 years to really come into his own. But either way, their impact on the team is unmatched. For me, 3-6 are relatively interchangeable as well, with Datsyuk and Fedorov being the most talented offensively and defensively in the regular seasons especially and Zetterberg's already legendary play in the post-season and we all know what Shanahan did for this team on and off the ice over the years. Osgood gets the nod over the others in the last group because of long-term success with the Wings, the past two marvelous playoff runs helping a lot and influence on the locker room. Konstantinov could have easily been at the top if his career hadn't ended so tragically soon. Holmstrom gets the 9th spot because of long-term success with the Wings and sacrificing just about as much as anyone I've ever seen to get his goals. Finally, Larionov gets the last spot because even though he was considerably lesser of a player late in his career with the Wings, he still played a vital role in secondary scoring for his whole tenure and was completely invaluable in the maturation of our Russian contingent, starting with guys like Fedorov, Konstantinov, and Kozlov and continuing on to mentor someone like Datsyuk who came here without speaking a word of the language and really without any family around him for support. I honestly think that without the help of Larionov and to a degree Hull in those first few years, Datsyuk may not be the player he is today, talent aside.

    Bertuzzi SUCKS

He tends to blow the easy play without even a shot on goal. There are a lot of Wings who have been guilty of that over the season but Bert has been the worst. He tries things that Zetterberg and Filppula are making look easy these days and just ends up getting robbed one-on-one, throwing an ill-advised pass that gets picked in traffic, or whiffing an easy one-timer. He was guilty of all three at least twice each against Edmonton. Players of Bertuzzi's ilk need to realize they aren't superstars anymore and need to do what Drew Miller is doing: just get the damn puck on net and hope for garbage/goalie-gaff.

    3/30 GDT: Other Games

Doesn't really matter, tho I would rather keep Pheonix around 4th instead of leap frogging SJ, just slightly better match-up for the Wings should they make 5th. Either way, Vancouver is locked into third unless they heat up and Chicago continues to s*** the bed.
