My opinion counts for not, but it consists of this: Ozzy as a boozer to the point where it becomes a problem is a retarded rumor started by a retard on his lunch break from being a complete retard on St. Retards day. EDIT: no intention to offend

Mikael Samuelsson Hat Trick: 2 costly plays and a game-winning goal
-
Then Detroit called. He (Samuelsson) had a tryout, made the team, signed a one-year deal and in 2005-06 wound up on the team’s fourth line – along with Dan Cleary (who scored the second goal of the game) and Johan Franzen(notes) (who scored 34 goals this season). “We were the fourth line,†Cleary marveled. Jeeze, almost forgot Mule and Sammy were on that line too... Can't believe its been 4 long years since the lockout...

Updated Osgood Stats: 10-3 ; 2.04 GAA ; .925 SV% ; 28.8 Shots per Game

I'm gonna keep doubting Sammy. Its worked out great so far. He makes some boneheaded plays here and there, and draws my cursing for a whole game, but usually its those games he ended up scoring a huge goal. Its happened since the San Jose series two years ago and everytime is he is really getting under my skin with dumb plays, thats when he comes up the hugest. Way to give me my steady diet of crow Sammy: "Just when I think you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this..... and TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!"

Serious man-love for Ozzy. Man-proposal on one knee in crowded restuarant. OZZY is the man.

Hilarious video of "Zetterberg" preparing for the Hawks
b.shanafan14 replied to zetterthancrosby's topic in General
haha well they make me giggle, thats all I care about. -
OZZY! Our boy played lights out tonite. Wings looked like their 7 games against the Ducks were starting to catch up with them, but Osgood held his ground and played great. Two goals off failure to clear the zone and funny bounces. Osgood out-dueled Khabibulin in goal, now he has stolen us a game. GO WINGS! GO OZZY!

QFT. Everyone always thinks that with even a slightly serviceable goaltender, the Wings should be able to win a Stanley Cup like falling outta bed. And yet, Joseph, Hasek, Legace, all have failed when this "logic" says they should have succeeded. Osgood has seen more shots this playoffs than I think many realize and the quality and concentration of those shots when they come are very underestimated by haters. He isn't faking his .922 save percentage. And even when he isn't seeing the 28 shots per game he is averaging through the playoffs so far, he has to keep focused during the long periods without seeing a shot and be prepared that when he usually does see shots, they are coming several at a time for the most part. Show Luongo that pattern of work and he'll be made to look quite average, even more average than he was made to look by these same Blackhawks. And to revisit Shoreline's point about the Ozzy love: this is a historically terrible team to want to play goal for. Like the article I posted from ESPN today mentions, this is a town where you win SOLELY because of the team in front of you, while losing lies SOLELY on your lap as goaltender. And yet, before, during, and after every single Red Wings game this playoff, chants of "OZZY! OZZY! OZZY!" rock the Joe. Why is that? Because he is a terrible goaltender we suddenly feel generous enough to shower with Gladiator-esque mob-love? Or because when given the opportunity, he is the ONE goaltender who has been able to sieze it and win consistently.

Great article about Ozzy, on ESPN of all things: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs/200...&id=4176419 Favorite Part: Reminds me of my friends.

The goalie interference Carolina got away with last night: diabolical
b.shanafan14 replied to BewareThePenguin's topic in General
I didn't see him intentionally knock the stick out of Fluery's hand, I may be wrong. I did see him sweep the stick away from Fluery, which drew the recourse of the Versus crew. Plays like that are hard to call, sometimes he is moving the stick away from the goaltender, sometimes you don't even notice who's stick it is, you just want it out of your way. -
Fluery looks good, but still does the Roy exaggerated glove scoop that makes the Versus guys crap their pants after even the most pedestrian saves. Satan goal was terrible communication on the part of the Canes with a guy coming out of the box. Ward wants the Malkin goal back for sure. Thought the two penalties against the Canes, especially the first on Staal were VERY soft.

Osgood won't get the respect he deserves until the year he is eligible for the HHOF the same year as another more highly touted, much less accomplished goaltender. Then everyone will hopefully be like "s***... what were we thinking... can't possibly vote in (other goaltender) without Chris Osgood."

The best "insults" you've heard against the Wings

That the Red Wings are a bandwagon franchise.... from a guy who loved the Pens and Crosby last semester... but is now suddenly a huge Blackhawks fan since they made the playoffs..... its cute... -

WCF GAME 1 GDT: Blackhawks 2 at Red Wings 5

Wings are starting to get their legs back. Have to be ready for the Hawks in the third tho. Wings are yet to really bury a team. No time like the present to start... -
Ken & Mickey are terrific. The call of the Helm goal gave me chills, Ken's scream is ridiculuous.

Ozzy has done all we've asked and more. The guy can do no right by most standards the media loves. The guy wins, he's always owed the team; the guy loses, the blame rests squarely on his lap. And yet, in a town where we are admittedly tremendously hard on goaltenders, "Ozzy" chants break out randomly throughout the the game. Ozzy is the every-man you can't help but cheer for. And as other goaltenders have come and went, the kid no one thought could steer the bus, 15 years later, is still steering the bus. The guy deserves all the credit in the world, but he'll have to settle on after-the-fact 'thank you' threads on hockey websites.... And hopefully another million people in downtown Detroit this June.

Would I be pissed if it happened to the Wings? Yes. Did the Wings get hosed time and time again all series? Hell Yes. Am I glad thats the kind of goal the Wings clinched the series with? HELL YES! Karma is a *****, Hockey gods get the last laugh, GO WINGS!

GDT 2009 WCSF GAME 7: Ducks 3 at Red Wings 4
b.shanafan14 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in Hall of Fame
This reffing is making me ill. its like they are reverse officiating, they game Pronger a break 3 or 4 times now, the last time he cross-checks Hudler, Hudler ends up in the box, Ducks end up scoring. This isn't a conspiracy, this is a tragedy.- 1,913 replies

Only reason we need to lose: 1) Blind, stupid, piss-poor bad luck. Can we just play the game already, this threads are killing me...
-
I HATE threads like this.... makes us seem arrogant as a whole and if they lose and I'm on LGW.com afterwards and see this damn thread, its going to make me even more irate. Keep your predictions in the GDT or keep them to yourself.

THANK YOU GS&T For those who honestly think that scrum was good ol' fashioned hockey, nothing cheap, just winners and losers, you are sorely mistaken. It was cheap gooning on the Ducks part, which they have done all series, every series and gotten away with. -Elbow on Datsyuk was vicious and should have been reviewed. -Getzlaf loves to overreact, and gets away with a couple gloved haymakers. -Perry is the most putrid, advantageous, sneaky coward I've ever seen in the league.
-
Leino would add offensive punch, but would have to fit in the top 6, which he wouldn't. What the Wings need is to start putting puck on pad instead of letting Hiller pick cherries with his glove and blocker. The rebounds are there, Wings need to start getting to them. Need to start playing with the urgency that hopefully Game 7 at home will provide. Biggest hindrance to the Wings offense right now is Holmstrom in the Top 6. He has looked slow and he has been getting demolished in front of the net. Good if the officiating calls blantant roughing/slashing/crosschecking penalties like they would if it was anyone else; Bad since the refs have chose to look the other way on goonery. Leino shouldn't be put into a Game 7, period.

OK, here's where the pro-"toughness" mass is completely and utterly in the wrong. There is a difference between being weak and being your team's "Gretzky". And there is a definitely a difference between being a good, tough hockey player, and being a cheap-shotting goon. Only one player on the ice for the Wings have ever been in a fight (Hossa). Rafalski is a smaller defenseman who just returned from 2+ weeks of injury. Datsyuk is a Lady Byng perennial. Getzlaf is a cartoonish bully, who goons it up every play and lives to play tough guy to those smaller than him especially (Hudler last game, Filppula near the bench last night). Perry is the biggest ***** I've ever seen wear the big girl pants, he has made a living out of hiding behind his windshield and only scrapping with those smaller than him, cause when he fights a Dallas Drake or John Ericsson he is exposed for the coward he is. And Neidermeyer, while without a technical track record, has a definitely tendency to get away with murder (as do all Ducks), ala the play on Holmstrom's head with Pronger two years ago and the mugging of Holmstrom which was allowed after the whistle in the game last night. So lets see what transpired: -Getzlaf throws serious gloved punches at the head of Hossa after the whistle because his outward bravado is so fragile that if you bump him he goes into a rage. -Perry, in usual gutless fashion, starts throwing punches at a much smaller, skilled defenseman fresh from injury. - Neidermeyer throws a vicious and no question intentional elbow to the head of Datsyuk, so that if it was an inch or two over, we're talking broken orbital bone and Datsyuk out. Put your tough guy goggles away for a minute, stop hugging your McSorley plush doll, and realize that there is a huge difference between tough hockey, and no-balls goonery after realizing who you are on the ice against. And even better, this is coming from the same team that villified Holmstrom's inadvertent elbow on a guy who was crouched down behind his elbow, but the goonery of Game 6 is completely legit.
