Illegal. Used elbows. Illegal. Retaliation. Not technically illegal but shows intent to injure. I'm not defending Cooke but look at the criteria and I can see why they gave Wiz 8 games and Cooke nothing. They are inconsistent but not when it comes to the Cooke hit. They showed some consistency however by not suspending Cooke when they also didn't suspend Richards.

I sympathize with Campbell on this one. Being a defenceman myself those are dirty areas. If players are not able to hit a player on their back check I don't think forwards should be able to plaster defenceman going back to collect the puck in those positions. Riding a guy into the boards is fine but regardless if Campbell's skate caught a rut those are s***ty places where the D-man has no choice but to play the puck in a very dangerous area and forwards are free to take shots at them.

Why would anybody do that?? That is just ridiculous to assume that removing the instigator will automatically have other teams tough guys chasing down Pavel. I see Ott and Ruutu doing that but I don't see guys like May and Boogard and Parros doing that. Just because they can do it if the instigator rule is gone doesn't mean they will.

Why are you bitching! They put the ******* rule in! Arguing to remove the instigator is also valid because it would allow players to get personal justice as well. As much as you think it's useless it probably would have a positive effect on the game rather then a negative one.

Boogard is not even a dirty player. He is big and I'm sure if he wanted to he could cheap shot anyone and get away with it. Mainly the tough guys aren't dirty. The dirty ones are gutless little f***s who could be beat up by Filpulla. Edit: I missed uk's post at the top.

Playing 5-4 is being penalized. I don't see how allowing icing would hurt anyone but the fans in how boring PP's would get. That would definitely turn in to a strategy. See how many whistles on each PK you can get. That still all depends on how good you are at face-offs too I guess.
