He's playing it safe and it definitely is working for him.

Wow. That's creepy. A picture of Crosby sleeping. Does he have a stalker?

I don't know about the rest of you but that was probably the best reffed game I have seen all year. It was like the old NHL. They put the whistles away and let them play. Didn't call anything unless it was blatantly obvious. I would love to see this type of officiating back in the NHL. I can't believe they were Buttman's refs.
-
Did most of you guys who said it was bad reffing just start watching in 2005??? It seems like it because, this was a perfect example of what made hockey so great, pre-lockout. There's maybe a little more holding and interfering but the game was decided by the players not by a too many men call. Not by a borderline crosscheck. Not by someone feeling a stick near their feet and and folding it in to get the call. They didn't call anything chincy. Obvious trips by Toews and Ryan were called. Staal and his blatant away from play interference. The hit to head on Perry, that they were generous to not give it a hit to the head. 2 powerplays a piece and then the guys settle it If you want fouls for every little contact you should watch basketball. The gold medal game was a prime example of a great game played by both teams and reffed even better by the officials. How often can you say that these days?

He should just retire. He worse then Gaborik when it comes to injuries.
-
Yes. The complete point of the thread.
-
Well your guess would be as good as mine to that but I'm sure they get a little guidance on how tight to call certain games.
-
Yes but if you go look in the GDT for the quarterfinals you will see that people didn't just want them too win but they thought Russia had a more talented team.
-
They played an excellent tournament and if they get to play in 2014 with that extra experience they will be scary good. Stand outs for sure were Miller and Parise for sure. Wa there another D-man that got hurt and had to be replaced besides Komisarek?
-
No. 90% of this board had the Russians destroying the Canadians in the quarters. When things went the other way around all of a sudden Canada was a favorite again. After having to take the Swiss to a shootout and losing to the Americans people were down on Canada big time and started counting them out because they had to play the Russians.
-
I do agree with you but I also think there would have been one less Canadian ref if that was the case. My opinion is that they went with 2 Canadian NHL officials because it was basically an NHL all star game. I think those two would let more slide then a guy from Sweden or Czech. It seems they wanted as little interference as possible in this final and I think they did a great job.

Actually, the first form of ice hockey was played by First Nations in Eastern Canada prior to European contact.
-
No. I started the thread.lol
-
That's exactly my point. They ***** about one when the didn't call 3 against them. I liked it that way.
-
I agree. I would have liked to see that.
-
The American's got away with 3! Yes, 3! Too many men calls.
-
The guy truned as Pronger was going to hit him. Even if it was from behind it was not in to the boards and they never call those in the NHL anyways.
-
Ya. Back to 10 chincy calls a game. I'm getting very excited for tomorrow though.
-
What events do you even watch then?
-
It's not one sided but this was a thread to show support for our record, not about your total medal count, which everyone knows is the best but won't admit it is the best. Seriously though, a lot of people claim the USA is the most amazing thing ever but you can't even let us enjoy one thing that we have on the world now.
-
Mickey would have loved this officiating.
-
You must love the New NHL and it's reffing then because you ust added 10 more penalties to that game.
