Halak has been playing great in this tourney. I wouldn't put it past them to come out on top. I think Canada can dominate the team but if Halak plays great it changes everything. This game should be good barring both goalies come out to play. Kipper vs. Miller. I would love to see this game come down to goal tending but I think the Yanks have a stronger team and it might not make it that far.

Mike Milbury uses 'Eurotrash game' to describe Russian hockey

Funny. I thought this was a about Milbury not Cherry. -
If the game was tighter, Canada would have played tighter defence. After the quick start they just wanted to put the dagger in the Russians heart so said f*** defence.

Any goalie can get lit up when he is left out to dry. Unless they have games like Miller/Hiller have been having then they are going to get scorched no matter who they are.

Does Canada not play Slovakia??????

Agreed. Ovechkin plays rough and has a wicked shot. Crosby is proving he has a good shot when he uses it this year, as well as being better at everything other then the physical game. Ovi might be a little faster though. One thing I will add about speed though is that Crosby is a great positional player. He is usually in the right places at all times so he doesn't need to use his speed as much as Ovi does. Crosby's positioning is something you could compare will Datsyuk.

I don't know why I didn't think of starting this thread, but I'm glad somebody did. We played well and Russians did not. Every other game we have played could have very well been a similar score if it wasn't for their goal tending. We have to ride this momentum because I see Halak having a gigantic game coming up.

Milbury is an American on an American network for that game. Nice try though. -
2010 Winter Olympics - Canada vs United States (Group A)

There is always 4 or 5 games going on at any time. If someone makes a good shot on sheet A people wil cheer. If people on sheet C hear it big f-in deal. If you want to play at this level you should know how to deal with crowds. Give me a break. I know they were doing it for the Danish team but what is the difference if she hears it and so does the sheet next to them. They both have to deal with noise yet the rest of the rinks are not complaining. Curling is a mental game, unless you are sweeping.Iif you lack mental toughness you shouldn't play the game at that level. -
Have people even been watching the Russians? They haven't looked that dominant at all. Neither has Canada so I wouldn't think it would turn in to a blow out or Luongo being chased.

Or Orpik draping himself one handed over Crosby and then Crosby getting the penalty that is so pro-Canadian isn't it.

Kanye weighs in on the Crosby Shootout . . .

No. Unless it is something to do with Dats, the Wings or a team playing the Wings. -
Wow. Just found this thread. Last time I started a curling thread not one person responded. Glad it has some spectators during the Olympics at least. As much as I hate Kevin Martin he is probably the best in the world.

Beyond thinking rationally? If Canada did beat the US in the final you would have American's down playing the loss and Canadian's saying it was the greatest win in recent history. When American's lose they can just be as sore as when Canadians lose. So all I'm saying getting this excited for a prelim. win is a little over the top. I commend the American's for their win on Sunday. I did that on Sunday. It's Tuesday. I thought was a "discuss the game" thread not a "who can come up with the wittiest caption" thread. It was a big win for the American's. I don't doubt that, but beating Canada is not the same winning a medal. You are a hockey power. You aren't Norway. -

I'll take that as a compliment, I guess. The game was Sunday night. I still come to this thread and see new photo shopped pics every time I open it. I think they should be thinking about who they are going to end up playing because if they don't win their next game they are done just like anyone else and the win over Canada means sweet f*** all. I'm all for celebrating but to carry it on for days is just gloating. As Shoreline said before he celebrated but he realizes that beating Canada, all though an important morale boosting win, is just the start. Example. As Wings fans, are you satisfied if the Wings don't win the cup but at least beat the Ducks? No. That is just stupid. This is just a warning that's all. I don't tend to brag but if we meet up with the Americans in the finals it is going to be a lot worse for American fans because of their gloating earlier on. If Canada loses tonight, go ahead and bash us all you want. Knowing that we could meet the Americans in the finals should still be on every ones minds. -

I'll laugh it off. If in fact we get the last laugh everyone on here will be bitching if Canadians start doing the same thing you guys are doing now. Hypocrites are funny. That includes Americans and Canadians who love to gloat. It will be funny to see the disappearing acts and bitching coming from Yank fans if we do win. That's all I'm saying. So have your fun but expect it back even worse if things go our way. -

Seriously? She can cry all she wants. I may be the only curling nut on this board but that is exactly how every curling event in Canada is. If you can't play because people are making noise then you aren't a very strong player. Both of my parents have been Canadian champs and I have been around the game my whole life, this is what happens. She is just looking for an excuse. -

Sorry to burst the USA's bubble but they need to still win 2 games to get to the gold medal game and the way you have played, if Miller falters once, you guys are out. Most of the comments on here it seems that you assume that you have already won. There seems to be more USA fans coming out of the woodwork and posting now that Miller is playing well then prior to the Olympics when some people didn't like their chances. Being Canadian we get called arrogant about hockey but seeing where this thread has gone, to being flooded by photo shopped pics of USA beating Canada, not winning the gold. Keep your celebrations to a minnimum until you have proven yourselfs best in the world or you will be made to wallow in your own s*** come Olympic end. -
It has nothing to do will the names on the sweaters, bud. US beat Canada on Sunday with a lesser team. I'm comparing the situation. If these players pull it together they will win. Luongo should be a huge boost. Canada has been the dominant team in each game they just have trouble finding the net. They beat the USA if Miller wasn't in net. The shootout doesn't happen if Hiller isn't playing as well. To have an SO win and a loss because of goaltending alone is not something to be upset about. You know you are doing everything right but aren't scoring.

Luongo shut out the Norwegians something US couldn't do. He didn't have a ton of shots but Norway had quality chances and he stepped up to make some big saves.
