He still had good numbers and we won. That seems to erase everything. 06 he also had decent numbers and at the end of someones career you can't really blame them for their lack of production.

I remember Fedorov being labelled as a scapegoat quite a few years back. It's not just goalies. Last year in the playoffs it was Hossa. For the Pens the year before it was Malkin in the finals. If you don't perform to your potential or what ppl have seen you do in the past then you get hit with the label. Inconsistency. Brodeur has never been pegged as a scapegoat in Jersey.
-
I don't bash Ozzie and I certainly didn't think he played bad against the Cap's but scapegoats become such for a reason. Yzerman was never a scapegoat or Lidstrom or Shanahan for one reason. Consistency. Ozzie has been in this organization for years and for just as many years he has been very good at times and very bad. His inconsistency is what marks him as a scapegoat.

Calm down Yanks, don't take the bait. Whoever read the Don Cherry threads knos what this is about. Tane you gotta give it a rest man.
-
I understand what he is trying to say but Ozzie should be able to play whoever they need. He is a professional goaltender, Stanley Cup champ. It's not like he isn't in game shape to step up and play when needed. That is what back ups do. In this case though Ozzie was given a chance to prove himself against an elite team and couldn't do it while they played average hockey. I refuse to feel bad for Ozzie because he isn't getting the playing time he wants. It's my opinion that Bab's didn't do it to make him look bad but did it so he could prove himself against a top team.

You continue to use "highest scoring team in the league" in your posts. Not just the one I'm replying to but to the previous one as well. They may be that on paper but they were not anything of the sort tonight. Ozzie had an awesome opportunity to pull out his best stuff tonight while not being peppered. He didn't play bad but he will have to be better if he wants more starts. It may have been poor judgment in your opinion to have his first start in a month come against the Cap's but they didn't play like the Cap's and Ozzie didn't take advantage of it. They may as well have been Carolina. Ozzie is a pro he should be able to handle whoever he has to play against.

Hey that's my hometown's library in the background!! I love Dryden! Green's a douchebag.
-
They definitely did not look like the highest scoring team tonight. They looked average and Ovie never had a shot. Don't blame Babcock. Ozzie was not bombarded with shots.

If anything the coaching has minor problems that are the least of our worries. WCF and 2 SCF appearances is nothing to shake a stick at. We are injured this year and we lost a lot of goal scoring. I don't think that blame can fall on anything but the cap itself. When we have our full team back we will go from there. This season really is one to forget. We were told it was a re-tooling year and that's what I will take it as.

Like I posted in another thread, Ozzie wasn't bad tonight. Lucky winner the Cap's got but Howard would have had the second one. Ozzie just isn't catching any breaks. He lacks the ability to bail us out when we need it which is pretty much every game. Howie does that. Ozzie could be rusty yes but we can not afford to throw him in to the mix in our situation and wait for him to shake of the rust. I still feel we ride Howard until we are in or when we pretty much have no chance.
-
You are totally right but tonight they did put in a good effort. Lucky game winner by the Cap's. PP was the only thing that was terrible tonight.
-
They do and it won't be easy. Tonight we blew it. Bad penalty and then a lucky goal by the Caps. One thing I have to say though is that Ozzie didn't play bad tonight but come on Ozzie you have to bail us out sometimes. That is what Howard does, he bails out the team and the team bails him out. Ozzie just can't catch a break like that. Backstrom had a nice shot but honestly I think Howie would have had it. People talk about Howards rebound control when Ozzies is just as bad. Tonight was a team loss I guess and our next 5 won't be so easy it would be nice to get 6 of 10 that is what I think is realistic. We aren't the only team sinking right now. The flames have dropped and are 3 points up on us now. LA is right above us. We just gotta catch a break sooner or later. Kronner on the ice was something positive from tonight.

HAHA I love Dats! Beauty interview.

Thanks for the insults bud but you didn't specify what those numbers meant. Generally I look at stats like that and assume participation not deaths. I don't doubt at all that the Americans were a huge part of winning the war but we served our role and I'm really glad that my grandfathers role in the war is considered so meaningless to American WW2 buffs such as yourself. Thanks Chet. I doubt there are that many American buffs that would actually admit that the Soviets were probably the final crushing blow in Europe. So while Americans fought alongside Brits Canadians, Aussies and other Allied countries the Soviets manage to beat back the Germans all by themselves and beat the rest of us to Normandy.

Yes. I think we all could agree on at least this.
-
What exactly did Babcock do wrong?
-
What else is it about then?
-
Babs is riding the hot goalie. God forbid he takes winning over Ozzie's feelings. He did not start the controversy to piss of Osgood. He didn't start anything. He decided to go with the goalie he had confidence in and who the team played well in front of.
-
It very well could have. The fact that Ozzie is upset is obvious though. When we play Howard we have a better chance to win lately and Ozzie should just deal with it. All I'm saying is that if all he wants to do is play but doesn't care how his play effects the team then he isn't being a team player right now.
-
Being a player should mean being a team player then as well. He shouldn't be bitching about his starts and especially going to the media with his thoughts on the situation.
-
Tis doesn't have anyhting to do with Howard. I'm sure he isn't blaming Howard and he is being a good mentor to him. It is between him and Babs.
-
He is one of the best playoff goalies in the NHL. When he has a team that plays in front of him he does quite well in the regular season. When they don't he gets exposed. I think most ppl on here have a problem with his attitude right now. I thought it was about playing as a team and doing what is best for the team at that moment in time. Not giving Ozzie games to make him feel better.
-
This is the reason why no matter how good Ozzie plays tonight he's still out. He may get a few more chances from a good performance tonight but nothing more I wouldn't think.
-
This is exactly right. I don't care if he hasn't been given the chance. Shut up and play your role when you are called upon. It's as if he thinks Babs is using Jimmy to punish him or something. I love Ozzie but "You're f***in' out, Jimmy's f***in' in." He did beat them earlier this year. We will see.

We must be reading different books with figures you just threw out there. You call your self a buff? The + is the only part of those figures that makes sense unless you are talking deaths.
