Cherry did not want to be interviewed and I believe they were recording and he wasn't aware of that. He could handled it in a better way but according to the head of CBC sports the reporter was being very aggresive towards Cherry who did not want to talk. I think I would freak out too. lol.

I'm pretty sure you can not sue the league or the team for something like this. I'd imagine that waivers are set in place for such instances of injury. Lifetime ban from the CHL sure but from hockey no. Cormier did a terrible thing for sure and it looked completely intentional but stuff like this has happened before. Take Tie Domi on Scott Neidermayer or Pavel Bure on Shane Churla with "The Mother of all Elbows".

They could tell him and the Devil's organization that they won't pursue criminal charges if the Devils suspended him themselves from participating on their minor league team. Just a thought though.

He should be handed a sever punishment which probably wouldn't end up much of a punishment to him seeing as how if he is banned from the CHL he will just go play for Lowell in the AHL. There are a lot of instances like this that don't get punished half as bad. nIt was terrible on Cormier and looked very deliberate but he isn't the first and won't be the last. Some guys are just boneheads. Including Jack Johnson who is enjoying a good young career in L.A., not banned from hockey.

The OP says it isn't the War rooms fault. Yet I have seen the replay and when slowed down and zoomed in there is conclusive evidence that it is no goal. Regardless who overturned the original call the War room had sufficient evidence in my opinion to overturn the call(not to mention the HNIC panels').

What the NHL is missing more then anything is plain common sense. That is all. Common sense could solve so many problems. Who was in the best position. Common sense would say Martel. Ok let's take Martel's "no goal" call and try and over turn that. It seems like that would be the most common sense thing to do but that's just me.

I think you are right he had Heatley as well as Hossa and Savard as team mates before and they couldn't do anything. I think he wants a consistent playoff team.

Isn't the max contract around 10 mil per year? He won't take anything reasonable to come tous. I could see getting him for mil but really he has to be in for the long haul. I don't want anymore stars for 1 year anymore.

If Kovi has told the Thrashers there is no way I am re-signing here then the Thrashers basically have to take the best offer which means they will seriously get screwed. That being said getting anything for Kovi will make them happy. Atlanta pretty much loses all say in what they will accept for the guy. A team may get him for a high pick and a solid young player. Atlanta is SOL unless a huge bidding war begins which I don't see happening.

We offer Nik a front office job. He takes it and we sign Kovi in free agency. No way would I trade anyone or picks to get him at this point.

Why so hard on the guy? Ya, he ran back to Sweden but maybe in a couple years he will be more mature and developed and he will be ready to make the big jump. Three of our best Swede's didn't play in the minors in America. Lidstrom, Z and Franzen all played in Sweden until the made they jump over to the big club. Even a year away and then coming back isn't bad.

I would nix Leopold and Krajicek off that list.

If Lidstrom retires, no matter who we get to take his place it will be a down grade. We are talking about replacing the best defenceman of the modern game. Not easy shoes to fill.
