The clock does get set back. Gonchars shot was at 14:44 and his penalty was also handed out as being at 14:44. It's definitely a cluster f*** when it comes to what chnages and what stays the same though. haha

I'm not a Cherry fan but you are blasting him because he said some of the American's are trained in Canada and that USA's hockey development shouldn't be praised for the win. USA hockey development(if you would have read in a previous post of mine) does deserve a ton of credit for what they have done with hockey over the last 15 years but to place this win at the climax of their resume is just bogus. He may not speak the truth all the time but he has a point. The US had a great team but there have been better teams to wear the USA hockey crest that have lost at the juniors. 2007 shootout loss in the semis in my opinion is the best team the American's have ever put on the ice at the juniors. They didn't win so they don't get the credit like these kids do. It's not the development that won them the Gold this year. They played as a team and they blocked shots. 2 key ingredients to a championship team. I still stick to my point that the mute button is always available to you. If that makes you think I don't have an argument then whatever. Believe what you want.

It would be great to replace the Russian's with the American's for the annual Super Series. It's not very "Super" anymore since the Russians lick ass.

I'm originally from Ontario and there is a general hatred for Toronto by a lot of people. I'm a Wing's fan because of my Dad who grew up in Northwestern Ontario as did I. During the original 6 times you only got 2 teams on the radio. Wings and Leafs. He went with the Wings and he got me into them to.

Why does he deserve to be hated. He stated that he was glad that the American's won because they played good. He then brings up a point that was no secret and fairly obvious that Canada was missing a lot of players. He gave you guys credit for the win. No offence to Miller Brew but he started this thread and made it seem like he came out and said that the USA sucks. He really didn't. He's patriotic and said we are the best(Canada). I have to agree with him because I am Canadian and I feel we are the best in general. He congratulated the victors! Just end it.

I Disagree. There are plenty of fans of non-Canadian teams that loves this tournament.

The USA has gained more ground then any other country in the last 15 years when it comes to hockey development. The American's used to be nothing. Now they are a serious threat every year and produce a lot of quality players. For that they deserve a lot of credit. To be fair though if the shoe was on the other foot this argument would still come up from the American's side. You can even see it by looking over other posts in the this forum. Wing's would have won the cup if Dat's was healthy and Hossa produced. It very well could be true but it's irrelevant. Canada with those players more then likely would have beat the states but the argument is irrelevant. We couldn't ice our best team and they could. They won. Fair and square. They out played us in both games. Congrats. More then half of the Wing's team was not trained in Canada yet they manged to get to the finals in back to back years. Where you learn your hockey doesn't completely make up who you are as a player. Personally I think Canada has the best coaching and development system, which damn well better be true because we devote so much resources to it. I will never be ashamed of Cherry because he speaks what most of us Canadians think(more often then not). His arguments are irrelevant now but no need to be ashamed.

Can't be two goals in one play. Yet Gonchar can have a goal and a penalty on the same play. I know there are ways to get a goal and a penalty on the same play, but should Gonchar have actually gotten a penalty? If the whole play after the goal is erased, how does he still get a penalty?

He's actually paid by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He probably has no idea he is on the NHL network in the states. It's not embarrassing because I think most Canadian's know the facts already about the players we were missing and where most of the American's play their hockey. We all were thinking it. He was just saying it.

He is just pointing out the obvious. That's what he does. The American's had a great tournament and I don't want to take that away from them but they did beat an average Canadian squad. You should still feel happy that you won but it is like the Soviets winning gold at the Olympics prior to pros being aloud. Yes you are the champs, but did you really beat the best? None the less he should have just let it die. It's over.

I'd be bored to be playing in Atlanta for 7 years too! He seems like a money player? He has had nothing else to play for but himself there. No chance at a championship, salary dumping so he really never has any one to play with and the fact that they had financial/ownership problems doesn't make it a great place to play in. No superstar wants to play for a bottom feeder.
