How does anybody sleep at night knowing Lebda makes that much?

ettman should be sharing his salary with some of the small market teams Bettman has been good in some ways but really the success of the NHL was not his fault. The NHL gained popularity because Bettman did get more TV deals. If the NBA wasn't the god damn circus it is right now though it would still be higher than hockey. This was not Bettmans fault. He lucked out with the NBA shooting itself in the foot. There is 1 reason there are 6 teams still in Canada. It has nothing to do with Bettman either. The rise of the Canadian dollar. The one thing Canadian teams needed managed to happen around the time of the lock out. Purely coincidence. Bettman again comes out looking like a ****** bag to fans but a genius financially. If he admits defeat with his little southern experiment then I will be upset that he used our league for that experiment but still respect him trying it. He never will though.

Playing baseball and watching the World Cup. World Cup is over now though. It hasn't been very nice here so we have a lot of rain out games to make up later in the summer so that should eat up some time. It's been pretty boring to be honest.

Metro or Modano. Those are the only ones I would want.

I'm completely comfortable with Janik back there or even having one of the kids back there if they really show they can do it in camp. I think Nick and Rafi need to be split up on the PP. I'll give Rafalski credit for one thing and that is being effective on the PP. Nick won't need to cover for him on the PP so they can be split. Rafalski could play with Nik Jr. or Stuart. They both can shoot and he can set either of them up.

If Modano doesn't come and we still need an extra 4th line guy, Metropolit is the answer. He was great in Montreal last year. He has hands for an old guy. He's got the experience and can win face offs. He has grit and is very well balanced player. Genuine plugger. If we can get him for the same or hopefully a little less than in Montreal I think he would be a great fit for 1 year. Give him one last shot at a cup. Juts my thoughts though, What do you guys think?

In a heartbeat. Maybe Burke wants to have another American defenceman on his team. Rafalski might waive to go play for team America in Toronto. Old thread, but I would really love to see that.

I think Rafi can foresee the future. He knew he would suck after a couple years in Detroit so he made sure he got that NTC.

People value players differently. In my eyes Stuart is way more valuable to this team than some think. He IS our 2nd best D-man most of the time. Wis can hit and fight but we don't need it. We also do not need an aging Marchant. He would just be adding something to this team that we already have a surplus on which is age. If he wasn't any good we would never have got him in the first place.

Mitchell would be awesome. I would love to see him in a Wings uniform. You are right though he is a little expensive.

Please. Rafalski is not great. The people who rip on Rafalski, including myself, have every right too. I have my doubts he will get more ice time if there are no injuries, especially if Kaberle stays. I never thought he was too bad for an almost league minimum defenceman. He makes as many mistakes as Rafi for like $5.4? less money.

I could be wrong but I thought in the off season you could waive anyone and not have to take half of their salary. You are probably right though but I thought I had read that somewhere. Edit: Read Buppy's post. Thanks for the clarification.

Hnidy would be a bigger cap hit than Janik. I don't really know if grit at the back is our problem. We just need a stopper. Someone who can get the puck in the corners and slow down an offence. If Janik can go out and quietly do his job that is ok with me.

If this is the case i don't see why Janik can't be in the line-up next year. Obviously we aren't the experts but his performance last year when he was up was completely satisfactory in my mind. He's better than ******* Lebda. Hell, he's probably better than Rafalski.

He throws names in a hat and then throws teams in another and picks then rights a rumour blog. That is how it's done. I'm sure of it.

Rafalski is no where near top 10. I'm assuming that is who you are considering is our D man in the top 10 besides Nick.
