Filatov is in Russia. I think the Wings would want a more stable investment then Filatov. If it was a Russian youngster we want I would love to have Grachev from the Ranger's. He's a big power forward type. To get these players though would be near impossible. Nobody trades away highly touted prospects these days because of the cap. May as well bring up Tatar if we want an Eastern European to skate with Dats.

He hurts our team. Honestly I wish he was a healthy scratch every night. What he does offencively by no means makes up for his defencive short comings. He doesn't go in the corners and just allows the forecheckers to get the puck first. He has definitely lost a step or two. 6 mil would be so nice to have. There are better D-men out there worth 2.5. Then we could splash the rest on another decent forward. Dreams are what make life worth living.

Nice. What about Kuznetsov?

The only reason Ottawa would take that is because of the cap they could shed. We wouldn't have the space to make that deal anyways. I agree with your conclusion that he is alone out there though. Dats sets up Bert 3 or 4 times a game and he just can't seem to pull the trigger or he hits the post. He seems to be able to make anybody look good but when shots don't go in he seems to get calmly frustrated. He looks confident on the powerplay with people like Nik and Z to pass to but 5 on 5 he tries to do to much I think because of the lack of confidence in his wingers. Only Russian I could see coming to Detroit may be Samsonov. Other than that I would love to see Helm on his wing. The speed from the both of them may have a chance to burn some D's. Plus we have no reason to doubt Helm's ability. The kid can play.

Are we watching the same hit? The replays show Laraque did. I can watch the Gonchar one over and over and I don't see him sticking his leg out. It may be forward but but he lead with the shoulder.
-
It wasn't dirty at all. It's unfortunate but he lead with his shoulder and didn't stick out his leg to catch Gonchar at all. Gonchar stepped out of the way to avoid the hit from the shoulder. He did it to himself. It was an accident.

This is the only time I can agree about Richards. It was borderline along with this one yet one gets a game and one gets nothing. The consistency in this league is pathetic.

This is not a charging penalty according to the rules, but definitely a boarding call. The result of the injuruy was from the hit into the boards not the distance traveled by Ovechkin. He did not leave his feet. He took 2 strides then then coasted into Kaleta. If Kaleta isn't turned there is no injury, no foul. He did and it did constitute a boarding major but not a game. http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26331

Absolutely did not spend to much on Z and the mule. That's ridiculous to say although I agree with the Rafalski comment. He's a bum and as much of a defencive liability as Lebda. He contributes some offence but for 6 mil a year the guy can tighten up defnecivley and start going into the corners or he can take a hike. Mind you when they re-signed Rafalski he was quicker and a little better defencivley.

LMFAO!!!!!

There will be no disciplining. A Red Wings fan punishment is the only thing that can be done. The next game officiated at the Joe by LaRue should be nothing but a shower of boos through out the game. The NHL won't do anything. It's up to the fans to show their disapproval.

Well said. haha

Thanks. I didn't actually read the recap. I was more talking about the front page where it says Stars cool Wings. It was like the biggest play of the game and no mention on the front page. Which obviously isn't a surprise. lol

You clearly watch the ref follow the shot. Hesitate then blow it dead. Puck was in like 3 seconds before hand. Unfortunately though there are way to many bone head calls we have to deal with. Like the Jet's OT winner here: Funny thing too is that there is nothing on NHL.com about it. Not one mention. Surprise, surprise!
-
What is so hard about getting the refs to put the whistle in their mouth while the puck is around the net. They will have no excuse to haver that rule. I don't see what's so hard about the NHL telling them to do that, even though it's ******* common sense!
-
I'm not big on the conspiracy thing but I would imagine if there was fixing going on it wouldn't be just the Wings. If you want to believe this wouldn't you think that the intent rule is a grey area allowing officials to swing games in a certain favour in close decisions. I would like to hear what Toronto and the officials talk about on the headsets. They should be recorded. Anyways I do believe though it is a huge stain on the game the way the officiating is going. Something needs to be done about the incompetence.
-
It's al about the bulls*** intent rule. 3 seconds is rather long for a guy to raise his hand to his mouth. I don't really know how they could blow this one. Pun intended. Instead of having the intent rule the league put in a rule or just common practice, where the ref puts the ******* whistle in his mouth when the puck is around the net. Eliminating any chance of delay. This stupid league is starting to piss me off.

Ridiculous! Shoot the ******* puck!!

I don't know about you guys but I just heard the worst saying ever by the Ducks announcers. I don't know if he made this one up but he should be hit with a stick. "Bobby Ryan goes coast to coast like buttered toast." What's the worst you have heard????

I wish the Wing's had one like this.
-
Another idea for GM's - Shorten Season to 70-74 games
