Stop making excuses for victims. Keep your head up! There is no reason Hedman couldn't see him if he wasn't looking at his feet.
-
Niemi has ok numbers but they keep playing Huet.

I agree with the rule being removed but in this case I don't think the goalie would have went to the corner anyways.(unless it's Roy or Turco). Ozzie does this all the time. Differnence being our boys keep their head up. Welcome to the show Vic!

I see. Thanks.

My argument is that you get the same defencive play out of Lebda ($850 000) theat you do out of Rafalski ($6 000 000). People feel fine to hate on Lebda though, when he really hasn't played horrible. Rafalski has been a defensive liability. He may not be big but he let's the forechecker go in to the corner and get the puck even if he could win the race to the puck. He will go after him then but by that time the guy has already dished it off. One reason we get pinned in our own zone so much is because he doesn't go into the corners. He allows them to set up. I'm not hating on his offencive abilities at all. For what he contributes now he makes way to much.

So is Janik not subject to re-entry???

Thanks dude. I never about that. Learn something new everyday i guess.

Is it not a 2 way deal anyways??

All I ask is, what is wrong with putting a little clutching and grabbing back in the game to slow it down instead of revamping hitting and adding more penalties to the game. They say taking clutching and grabbing out of the game allows skilled players more room to maneuver. What it has really done is made speed a huge factor in the way people select their teams, it also is a huge factor in most injuries whether it's from hits or from just plain sliding into the boards. You used to have to use a play making skill while being defended, not just speed. The flow of the game is really interrupted now that there is a penalty for every little minor touch on the glove, yet funny enough so many hits from behind go uncalled as well as cross checks in front of the net.

He has gotten soft and timid since the accident. If Holland was addin him for grit he obviously couldn't have done the research on him.

He makes 850 000. He's worth that. He's been decent the last 3 games. Him jumping in the rush is not ideal but one thing he does have is speed. If him and Janik could split time I would be happy but his Cap hit is invisible to us and he's making less then a regular 28 year old D man would make. He does what he's supposed to in my opinion. He rushes up dumps it in and eats minutes until we can get our top 4 guys back on the ice. Geting pinned in our zone is not something we can solely blame on Lebda.

Rookie Qualifications To be considered a rookie, a player must not have played in 25 or more NHL games in any preceding seasons, nor in six or more NHL games in each of any two preceding seasons. Any player at least 26 years of age (by September 15th of that season) is not considered a rookie.

I believe you have to play 30 games to make it your rookie year. I could be wrong on the number of games though.

It seems to be only me that notices but Lebda is outplaying Rafalski defensively. My buddy is a huge Rafalski fan and I told him to watch him lastnight and he finally noticed too. PP specialist for 6 mil is ridiculous. Lebda gives it 100% and goes into the corners on D willing. He's a very cheap filler player who plays his ass off for us. He has little talent but he hasn't been our worst D-man this year and he's played well in the last 3 games.

I post this purely for my own entertainment purposes. Ohlund leads with his forearms and catches Kessel in the head. SUSPENSION!!!!!! According to a lot of ppl on here there should have already been about 20 suspensions handed out for head hits. If you feel the same way I do this whole talk is getting ridiculous. The reason this doesn't get brought up as dirty is because Kessel never got hurt! Everyone talks about double standards and yes I agree but it has nothing to do with who hit who. It has to do with did the hit result in injury. You can hit someone cleanly, hurt the guy and be vilified, yet if you hit someone from behind in the corner and the guy pops up right away, there's no harm done. A lot of the time with no penalty called period. I don't blame the players. I blame the NHL and the officials. There is zero consistency in officiating games. For god sakes they added an extra ref for this reason!!! Officiating has been horrible post-lockout, but based purely on inconsistency. A touch on the glove gets you 2, but a crunch from behind(not causing injury) gets you a cheer from the home crowd or at worst boos rain down if you are the visiting team. 18 000 seem to able to make the call but the 2 idiots paid to do it don't even blink.

Nice one. hahaha

I'd rather Sidney get that shot.

I'm sure Steven Harper and Obama have their shots already.

Are you telling me that no Government workers or officials have yet to get vaccinated. I'm sure the Government was the first to ge them before anyone. I wouldn't believe them anyways if they came out and say they didn't. Pointing the finger at athletes and there families is a good way of deflecting it away from themselves. I'm not saying it's right but I'm sure they aren't the first to get special treatment.

Don't if you guys have seen this yet. I just saw it. I'm guessing it's old because of Armstrong. Sorry if this has been posted b4.

Not in Toronto.

Wondering if anyone knows about this or how it works. It says on Shaw.ca that if you signed up for Centre Ice you get all access to NHL game centre live on NHL.com.

I'm not searching threads to avoid mislabeling someone. The fact is though, hitting has always been a part of the game. Over the past couple of years it's been criticized. Why? Because American media tells us to. Up until Bettman's personal little project of shoving teams into non-hockey markets, there was never any problems. After that, people began to critique the game over and over and over, coming to the conclusion that it's to violent. All I'm trying to say is stop trying to change the game from the way it's always been played. At the NHL level it's about winning, not about having fun with your friends and respecting everybody. You respect the person, not the player. If he's gawking around you crush him. Maybe he'll learn maybe he won't. I totally agree with the fact that the padding used today is less of a padding and more of an armour which needs to definitely change. Hockey reformists have already ruined the game that I loved growing up. Changing the game has put us in the this situation in the first place. Until fighting and open ice hitting is removed from the game there will be arguments between the traditionalists and reformist. Nobody wins.
