    3/27 GDT - Canadiens 5 vs. Red Wings 4

Didn't realise it was that high. I guess earlier in the year it just felt like we were leaving so many points on the table, and the majority of those were coming from the shootout losses. But yea, even 2 more points would be useful right now.

    3/27 GDT - Canadiens 5 vs. Red Wings 4

The Canadiens are a prime example of what might have happened to us if we'd have won half of those shootout games. 7 extra points and we'd be right there with them. Lets hope that Emelin keeps his hip checks away tonight. Still loving the 4 Captains on the graphics. Simply amazing! Go Wings!

3/25 GDT - Red Wings 2 at Blue Jackets 4

I reckon that's most likely, seeing as the top line has struggled the last couple. No doubt that will mean Alife will be back on a checking line though...
  4. Is it possible that the Leafs would lost their last 8 games also for a catastrophic 14 game losing streak???

3/25 GDT - Red Wings 2 at Blue Jackets 4

Nah more likely to be my fault. Stayed up till 2am to watch it live over here. Every time I've done that this month the Wings have lost, so I'll be watching thursdays game on friday now.

Glad they've tied it, but we need more from our top line. Only the kids look like a scoring threat right now. Callahan looks solid and comfortable out there. Not making mistakes, playing solid hockey, and throwing the body when he can.

This will be so huge if we can pull this one out tonight. Btw everyone who keeps predicting that Glendening will pot his first of the season: Ain't gonna happen…... GO WINGS!

Illitch announces plan to build new arena

Sad news indeed. Need to make it back over the pond for a 5th visit. People may say its a dump or its old or its grimy or whatever the hell they like. But fact is the sight lines are awesome, the standing room is the best in the league, and it just gives off this aura of character, history and everything that is Detroit Red Wings. While it might be 'necessary' (which I don't necessarily agree with), all we as fans are going to get is another generic building that while being clean and comfortable, will be just as bland as the next.

My bad, brain is frazzled today. Yea that seems like a good line, and bert with Miller and Glendening was good for us too. Should be good tonight

So with Emmerton down to GR that means Callahan-Helm-Bertuzzi. Interesting.

    Callahan called up from GR.....

Fair enough, point taken. The video may have slightly blurred my views…..my bad. Back to Callahan - hoping that with limited ice time he'll make an impact tonight.

    Callahan called up from GR.....

Same, I definitely admire his style of play and makes me pine for the days when Shanny was around. We could use some more guys like that. That video of PK is awesome. He's such a great role model and character, wonder what will happen when his deal is up at the end of the year (RFA).

    Callahan called up from GR.....

As I slowly lose respect for Lucic, I have to imagine that these comments were made in account of the animosity between Boston and Montreal made all the more bitter by the fact that they just ended their 12 game winning streak. But yea, sounds pretty stupid saying that. It was a clean hit, accept the fact that you got smoked.

    Callahan called up from GR.....

It's the disturbing trend that has plagued and continues to bring down the game in my eyes. A guy throws a completely legal, perfectly timed hit that looks really bad because either the receiving player A) wasn't expecting it or B) has his head down or C) just got completely smoked because the hit was that good. Then everyone on the other side feels like they need to go beat up the guy who threw the legal check because they don't like the fact that their teammate is incompetent and got shown up. Makes me sick. That was a terrific hit by Emelin and it's a shame we don't see more like that. At least the officials shoved Chara in the box after he decided he wanted a piece of Emelin.

Comeau better keep his head up. Go Wings!
  16. Hmm personally with the way the Bruins are tearing it up right now, I'd much rather play the Pens and have another crack at making Crosby cry. Plus, with the history between the two teams, it would make for a pretty entertaining first round. As Darryl Reaugh would say 'barnburner'.

    Callahan called up from GR.....

Ferraro looked alright IMO, but you could tell he wasn't quite ready for the big time just yet, which I think is definitely why Cally is here. They've got to know what these guys can bring before they're out of options, so now the buck has been passed. I liked what I saw from Pulkkinen. Good speed and a terrific tendency to put the puck on net both of which we need. But he definitely needs more minutes. Its about time we had a fight tbh. Smith has looked ready to go the last couple of weeks but the refs have always intervened. Do we know if Bert is still out for tomorrow night?
  18. Not so big games tonight but would definitely be useful if the Rangers, Flyers and Canadiens all lost. Tuesday is obviously where the action is but main thing is we have to get 2 points in Columbus. With the way the Leafs are going I don't see them beating the Blues, while Kings/Capitals is a toss up really. Thoughts?
  19. Hmm I see your point but don't agree. The Leafs are ultimately our best chance of getting in right now as stands because frankly, they've got the entire world of pressure on their shoulders and a goalie who can't hack it. They are vulnerable and at risk of falling out of a spot completely. Thus, the more they lose, the more the pressure mounts, and the worse everything becomes for them. A win right now in any of their games essentially stops the bleeding, and thus, the longer they keep haemorrhaging for, the better for our chances to get in. We've got our own game remaining vs the Habs and still games in hand so we can take care of them that way. At least if the Leafs keep sliding we've got a better chance to make it in.
  20. Apparently some fans were tossing Jerseys onto the ice and Scrivens was chucking them back into the crowd?!?!?! Feel bad for those fans

    3/22 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Wild 2

IMO I don't think they can send Sheahan back when loads of guys get healthy. He's definitely earned his spot on a potential playoff roster for not just showing he can do it defensively, but is also pretty adept offensively too. That set up last night of Legwand's PPG was a beauty. That said I think Andersson will be in the lineup. While he might be slow, he's pretty good in his own end and face-offs. Will be interesting to see who sits when guys start coming back.

    Injury Updates

Most likely cause Pav hasn't done anything for the last 2 weeks and hasn't been evaluated yet so they don't know where he's at. I heard he would be evaluated next week (per Khan I think) so fingers crossed for the weekend!

3/16 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 4

As frustrating as this season has been, and continues to be, I think we're all lacking a little bit of appreciation right now. Our top 5 Cs are out, we've got a lineup full of rookies (practically) and banged up regulars who are punching way above their playing weight against guys who are better than them, night in night out. What I have seen from this team the last month is nothing to be ashamed about. They have been and continue to be in every game. I see a team that is still competing hard and playing well, but because they are human and are without a legitimate 1st line and possibly 2nd line, can't put the puck in the net and make little errors that come back to bite them in a big way usually costing the game. I believe as well that this team, when healthy is top 3 in the East. While many of you think this season is gone, and are quick to can Holland AND Babcock (the latter of which I find crazy), I actually think it's incredible we're still in it at this point which is a testament to this team and the coaching of Babcock (why he shouldn't be canned). Success comes in cycles and luck plays a huge factor into that too. This season is just one of those where things haven't gone our way and yes while we have some things that need repairing (D!) and guys that need to be waved goodbye (Cleary, Bert, Samuelsson, Q) this team is looking incredibly bright for the future with the guys we have coming up and the guys who we can put out there when healthy. Yes its frustrating as hell to see this team get busted by the Hawks, but last night it was to be expected.

Great first period all things considered, and the PP looked a lot better than it has. Just gotta get Pulkkinen to finally get a one timer on the net though. Keep going boys!
