Per TSN: McLennan suspended 5 games, Lebda out for Game 6
wings4thecup06 replied to Ozzie30's topic in General
I couldn't care less about Mclennan. he's an ******* for doing what he did, but like many have said, and franzen said, he's not even a factor, wouldn't have played anyway. What really pisses me off though is how lebda throws a LEGAL check on langkow, and he comes back and sucker punches him when he's down, concussing him, so that he misses the next game. bulls***. plain and simple. -
Am I the only one who just wasn't quite comfortable watching that game? Hasek might have been off a little, but in the past when he has had a bad game, he's been awesome the next. Let's hope he continues the trend. Also, i think Hudler should have played in that game. Filppula's line didn't look quite the same as it has. Get them back together. Either Samuelsson or Lang should sit though, i couldn't believe that Lang was chosen to take that draw right at the end, i sighed out loud before the puck was dropped. Still, it was a damn tight game, and phaneuf getting drilled by cleary gave me a good laugh. He was our best player in the game. Let's sneak game 4 and go back to the joe and clinch. GO WINGS!!

Couldn't agree more....the first couple of weeks when the shootout was initiated i thought it was kinda neat. But now i'm just tired of it. And NEVER in the playoffs should this be put in. This is a team game not about whoever's best 1 on 1.

PRE-GAME 3: (4/17) Red Wings @ Flames - 10:00 PM EDT
wings4thecup06 replied to aflac9262's topic in General
Soooo excited/nervous for this game, should be awesome playoff hockey! I reckon the wings willl come out flying again. If bert plays, I think sammy would be better off sitting, partly because that fourth line has played so well recently, and if we can continuosly roll four lines and keep up our game, then like dom said, what can they do?? GO WINGS!! -
You're right about the isles management, just stupid some of the things they've done over the years. Just when you look at the type of players they've drafted or could have drafted over the last decade you begin to wonder what went wrong! They drafted bertuzzi, bryan mccabe, roberto luongo, eric brewer, raffi torres, wade redden. They traded for yashin and gave up the number 1 draft pick that year which turned out to be jason spezza! Before that in 2000 they traded olli jokinen and luongo for oleg kvasha and mark parrish! I know that predicting players potential is hard, but imagine where this team could have been if they'd have stuck with it!

and vancouver vs dallas too i believe. CBC were advertising it last night on hockey night in canada. I wish they'd released a preliminary schedule or something already, i'm so excited for some playoff hockey!! GO WINGS!!

Calgary scares the crap out of me when i think about a first round matchup with them. I just keep thinking about the 2004 series, the roar of the crown in calgary and that damn red goal light. Still, i think we have a great shot at them. Calgary have been awful on the road this season, and if we can jump out to a 2-0 lead in the series, then all we really have to do is steal 1 on the road and come back to the joe and finish it. Obviously its easier said than done but we've beaten the flames both times at the joe this year. Still, we're a little more physical especially with bertuzzi and calder, and just that little scuffle vs the predators a few weeks ago with lilja and sammy gave me a little bit of and idea that this team will stick up for themselves physically. I hope that trend continues, cause we're going to need it! GO WINGS!

I have to agree, I love the energy with which tootoo plays, I'd love for us to have that in Detroit, but when you start deliberately leaving your feet trying to take out guys who no longer have the puck, then I have a problem with that. I also have a problem with sucker punches. If you're going to punch a guy, challenge him and do it evenly. Don't just drop the gloves and start pounding him when he's not ready to go. That's how guys get injured.

Yes but no. I like the way he plays the game, and he's a good offensive guy from the backend, especially now he's picked up his physical play recently I like him even more, but he's earning too much imo. Still, I feel the need to bring Kindl, Quincey or Ericsson into the defensive corps next season and if that's the case someone will have to leave. Chelios isn't going anywhere and I'd love Schneider to stay. So who knows?

Good to see booter finally getting the call, i reckon he'll square of with tootoo at some point tonight, more than likely in the first period. GO WINGS!

From trade deadline show: prospect is Shawn Mattias, which is a damn shame cause he's a huge forward. Still, at least it's not Kindl. Plus, if the wings reach the conference finals, it'll be a first round draft pick to florida.

Yea I thnk it'll have to be another draper/lemieux and then revenge by maccarty that'll restart something. However, with the way our team is built these days i don't see it happening in the near future. Still i think it's about time we found a new rival, cause I'm quite happy with the way the Colorado rivalry ended really which it effectively did in 2002. To give it a rebirth would be a little weird, seeing that Joe Sakic is the only guy left from the 1997 avs team and draper, homer, lidstrom, maltby and ozzy are the only wings left.

Couldn't agree more. Langer has been great in the last two playoffs for us and I'd like to see him stick around so he can do it again. I think we just need to find him the right winger and he could go on a hot streak. Guerin would be ideal and he'd compliment lang well. We all know we need more than just the hank/pavel/homer line to win in the playoffs! As for nashville, them getting forsberg just ups the intensity, which i like. A gutsy move should show Holland what we're dealing with. At the same time, I'd love to just say to kenny make a trade for the hell of it. But right now, there's a long way to go, and he's gotta get the right deal. I have faith.

Anyone catch the Barnaby/Ference scrap from last week that lasted nearly 2 minutes? Now that was a beauty!!
