Are you delusional? Peters would beat Downey's ass, that is if Downey could stand up on his skates for more than one or two punches (which happened in their one fight that I remember). You don't give why-I-oughtta's and run away unless you are Maltby or Avery (and that's what you are paid to do). All he can do is fight, so he better not back away from that.

Canucks acquire O'Brien, Ouellet from Tampa Bay

Eh, I don't know about 2nd pairing. He might not even be in the top 6 for Vancouver (granted their D is pretty solid but Krajicek was set to be #7). I'm kinda amazed by this but I guess Tampa really wants puck-moving D-men with the this and the Mezaros deal. They really don't have much power back there though. I think Carle is going to be a good one, he looks promising. -

Looks like he's already off Crosby's line.

Helm - should be in the regular lineup even if it's a 4th liner because he can be effective in that role. McCarty - Doesn't deserve to be in the NHL, let alone on the Red Wings, but has a high chance because of team loyalty. Downey - Also doesn't deserve to be in the NHL. Other than fighting he brings absolutely nothing to the team, thats why I really don't think he'll make it. Leino - Shows some glimpses of goal-scoring and playmaking ability, but can't crack a lineup that is top-heavy in exactly that. He's a lot better developing more and getting accustomed to the NA style of hockey in GR. No point in putting a player like this on the 4th line. Ultimately, think it's going to end up being Mac if they end up taking a 13th forward.

Hard to tell, he hasn't really played with the same players for more than a game. He's looked good in some games making some nice plays, but obviously hasn't played up to his potential as a goal-scorer.

Franzenstein beastin it up.
-
stupid hit... hope he's not injured. Hate seeing good players injured in preseason.
-
Kuba for Art Ross! Kennedy for Richard! On pace for 164 haha. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/trophies

Same games today at the same times if anyone wants to watch some hockey. Both games are again on CBC, but also on Versus.
-
That was quick (and terrible by Gerber).
-
Either Naslund or Gomez but isn't it Gomez's 2nd season too?
-
I'm switching back and forth, but it's getting annoying.

Zherdev looks really good for New York. He's trying harder than I am used to. Lundvquist is ballin' as usual and Mike Smith is looking solid too.

Now Z has 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points and a +7 in 4 games. Rest of Top 5- Franzen: 3G, 2A, 5P, +6 in 4 games Sammy: 3G, 2A, 5P, -2 in 4 games Hudler: 0G, 5A, 5P, +5 in 4 games Lidstrom: 1G, 3A, +3 in 3 games Really liking Franzen-Z-Hudler line!

Ericsson is the truth.

agreed.

Can't really argue with Montreal... they are almost as stacked as we are. I really think Tampa Bay could surprise people if the chemistry is there and players play to their potential. Granted they are old, but I mean having Recchi and Roberts on a 4th line is still a damn good 4th line. Their D is almost underrrated too. It's really on the goalies to see how they turn out I suppose.
-
I'm guessing he'll get (and this would be an extremely good year given the fact he's not playing with Dats): 41 goals, 52 assists for 93 points

Don Cherry talking about some issues at hand for the upcoming season. To summarize: - Ovechkin will be worse, he wont "be running around like a bull in a china shop like he did." - Wings should repeat if you're a betting man. - European expansion is bad, but hopefully it happens so Euros go home. - Tampa Bay is most improved. Phoenix, Edmonton, and Calgary are improved. - Philly, Pittsburgh, Vancouver are going to struggle (Van probably not a playoff team). This is probably a matter of opinion since it's pretty impossible to compare the two, but I strongly disagree with this statement.

If Sammy and Ericsson are both on the team next year and E is getting top 4 minutes (and thats a big if), then it's a no brainer that he gets the point spot based alone on the fact that he plays D. The real question is will E adjust to NHL speed and be comfortable enough playing big minutes and not turning the puck over on the point. Sammy's done a decent job, I'd be more comfortable with a D playing it but they won't switch it up until it's clear that E is the player we all think he is.

Are you implying that I didn't make accurate bullets (I love arguing with you)?
