Exactly what I was thinking.

2010 Lidstrom = re-sign Maltby/Homer = resign 1 year 2011 Draper = re-sign Osgood = resign 1 year as a backup

Hope it hasn't been posted before but here is a funny video of Ovechkin golfing (first time ever). Notable Quotes: "Tiger, WHERE ARE YOU... TIGER?" "ISWEARAGOD" "ISWEARTOMYMOM"

This kid better not end up play baseball. -
I don't really know exactly what is going on with discussion right now because I'm too lazy to read through all this, but back to Hudler. Someone on the HFboards pointed out that Hudler led the wings in Points per minute (with 14 on 4th line time), as well as placing 4th during the regular season in points per minute. I never really thought of it in this perspective, but Hudler must have something going for him to put up solid number on low minutes and the least skillful forwards on the team. I'm not trying to overhype him, but people are saying that they would give up 1st-rounders for him and one Sabres fan said Hudler for Afinogenov straight up. Do we underappreciate Hudler? I agree he has some talent, but I'm wondering what he would do given 2nd line minutes. Could he actually be a high-end point producer? This would be kind of cool to test out (won't happen): Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Hossa Filppula - Hudler - Franzen With that said, we are just flat out stocked. That would leave players like Sameulson, Cleary, Holmstrom on 3rd or 4th line minutes. Our 4th line could be comprised of all players that have played for their national team, 2 of which for team canada (Draper, Maltby, Holmstrom)

Man, Grand Rapids could be looking at a good season. They needed a couple bona-fide scores and they ended up with Francis Pare, Ville Leino, and Darren Haydar. All of which who have been 1st or 2nd in scoring in their respective leagues for a season. That is assuming that someone won't end up in Detroit. They have no reason to have a mediocre season again. Pare, Leino, Haydar, Ericcson, Howard, possibly Helm, hopefully Lilja (wishful thinking?), Larsson, Quincey, Meech are all great players.

and just another throwback video of the funniest person in the NHL "here will be wodka, and here cranberry juice."

Kind of fun little game. Basically I write two players, the next person to post states who they think is better and then comes up with two themselves. Hossa vs. Kovalchuck

Pretty much regardless of position because some of these would never happen. Senators: Healtey - Spezza - Alfreddson Avalanche: Stastny - Sakic - Hejduk Capitals: Ovechkin - Fedorov - Semin (Backstrom) Flyers: Richards - Briere - Lupul (Carter) Penguins (biggest reach, all centers): Staal - Crosby - Malkin Wings: Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Hossa Feel free to add any. Honestly, I think it would be so much fun to have that top line if only for part of the season. It would be like the Sens with their top line except better. No one could contain that line, they would be insane.

No it's more the fact that when he was with the Canucks he was playing with horribly defensive-minded players. I'm not saying he would be amazing but he has put up very respectable numbers at all levels besides the NHL where he conveniently was not on a first or second line. I watched him play in ever Vancouver game because my GF and I were hoping he would pan out to be good since we knew him. He was never really given over 6 minutes in a game. Also, the guy is huge for a skillful player. With that said, at the time he had absolutely no sense of his own end. So unless that changes I don't see how he fits into the Devils system at all. Just to show you he has some talent:

I think LA has a good amount of players that are going to have big salary increases relatively soon. Players like Kopitar, O'sullivan, Frolov and Brown are sure to be in that category. Also, I think it's pretty low because they still have a lot of RFA's yet to be signed.

I know him in real life, and despite him being somewhat of a headcase, he has a ton of offensive potential. But the problem is he isn't the youngest of prospects anymore. So if something positive was to come from this it would have to happen pretty fast. The only way he'll ever be alright in the NHL is if he isn't playing 4th line minutes with 4th line players like he was in VAN.

Wishlist for a Hockey Related Social Media site?
DatsyukownzU13 replied to WhiteCloud's topic in General
What exactly does a "social media site" entail? If you wanted more than just NHL fans to be interested it would be nice to have coverage of multiple levels of hockey. Probably covering Division 1 college hockey, specific higher-end Junior A leagues (USHL or NAHL), OHL, AHL, and the NHL. As an NHL fan, I don't pay particular attention to the other leagues besides the OHL/NCAA but it is always fun to read up on the progress of your future players. -

Which team could have the best top line?
DatsyukownzU13 replied to DatsyukownzU13's topic in General
I'm not saying he isn't good. But dropping from about a point per game in the regular season to about .5 points per game in the playoffs says something. -

Personally, I have never seen what is so special about Thornton. Granted I have only watched him in the playoffs where he usually fails miserably, I just don't see that much to be amazed by. He has good vision and passes well. But other than that, he's fairly soft and doesn't have that much of a scoring touch. Marleau is fast, but a bit overrated. Cheechoo scores when Joe is on his game so I guess that could work. JR used to be the truth so I could see a regular season line of Thorton, Roenick and Cheechoo being nice. -
Pat Lafontaine... wish concussions didn't exist. Alec Delvecchio vs. Jarri Kurri

Which team could have the best top line?
DatsyukownzU13 replied to DatsyukownzU13's topic in General
Originally I was going to do this but stating that all players were in their prime. How would that change things? I could see Washington being an amazing line if all were in their prime with Ovechkin, Fedorov, and Semin or Backstrom. Also, Pittsburgh could hit the ceiling with Malkin, Staal and Crosby. The Wings basically have those 3 players all in their primes (hopefully) for next season so it will be interesting if they get out their together. -
Bourque D and Z or Malkin and Crosby
-
Just making sure no one was going to come in here claiming blasphemy after seeing Draper above Shanahan in terms of skill.
-
Roberts Malkin or Datsyuk (if both were playing to their full potential)
-
I'm with you on not remembering the lineups (and I was 2 years older for each team). But if you are close, the thought of a team having Brett Hull and Pavel Datsyuk on the 4th line is mind-blowing even at their ages (young and old). That team was staccccked.

Luongo... Toews or Kane (it's probably been done before)

Top 10 based on a combination of talent and success: 1. Yzerman 2. Lidstrom 3. Fedorov 4. Datsyuk 5. Zetterberg 6. Draper (not for the goals) 7. Osgood 8. Shanahan 9. Fetisov 10. Larionov
