As amazing as Darren Helm's playoff record is; its even better when you consider that he was a -7 in 16 regular season games. I wouldn't be shocked if he is back in Grand Rapids after winning his second cup. BTW, I counted the Illitch name eight times on that cup. I know Mike owns the team but man that seems to be a bit much.

Don't worry Burnside picked Pittsburgh in 7 last year by exclaiming that the Penguins would win in OT and then hack the hanging Octopus to pieces. That obviously didn't happen. He is banking on Crosby and Malkin exploding in the finals but that won't happen either.

You apparently haven't watched hockey long. Tonight was a perfect example of why the Wings will lose in the first round if they don't get their acts together. They now have 71 games to do it. Wings have a 5-4 record without the two shootout victories. I don't think that is a record the team should be bragging about (althought I am sure they aren't). They have scored 41 goals but have allowed 37 (2nd worst in the league). Bust peoples chops for blaming Ozzie all you want but the Wings clearly have some corrections to make.

Guys you can bring up the Red Wings record all you want but if the defense and Ozzie plays like this during the playoffs then I can guarentee you that they won't get through the first round. A less than .900 save percentage is not going to win. I don't care who you blame it on Ozzie or the defense but both of them need to shape up or the team will not be repeating this year. During that time you won't be able to say, "Well, the Red Wings started 7-1-2!!!"

35 Goals For 28 Goals Against The offense cools down one bit then the Red Wings could easily drop to .500 I wouldn't worry too much now but defense does win championships and I wouldn't look for Detroit to repeat if they continue with this same crappy defense in the playoffs.

If we can get Hossa and that somehow works with keeping Franzen after a break out year then I am all for it. If we lose Franzen then I will be ticked.

We should want that but not for more than the 7.1 million dollar offer that the Pens made him. We could tack on a couple more years if that would seal the deal but 8.5+ million would be a team chemistry killer especially if Franzen has an all world season. We would effectively be giving up Franzen for Hossa.

I just watched half of the game five third period and the electricity of the crowd and team after Rafalski scored his goal is the best I have seen ever at the JLA. Post if you remember a play that might have been better.

The 7-0 Game 7 in the 2002 WCF I think this feeling was more of a "I can't believe this is happening." Most people were elated too but the game was over by the end of the 1st period which was totally unexpected.

I don't buy into the conspiracy against the Red Wings but the officiating was awful this series. Pittsburgh got two 5 on 3s and I don't think Detroit got any. Hudler barely had his stick up on the hooking call. NBC didn't even show the Datsyuk penalty (Wonder why?). Datsyuk was hooked at the blue line for a turnover just prior to the game ending and it was not called.

Glad to see Ozzie mention the tripping of Datsyuk in his interview. I was going nuts on the play as it caused a turnover and a near tie game.
