    Osgood Is a Diver

188, achieved by a Toronto goalie.

    Osgood Is a Diver

He looks amazingly confident and having fun. I will not be surprised if he breaks the record for shut out minutes.

    Osgood Is a Diver

Crosby: You have studied my game tapes well. Osgood: Using your strengths against you, I must. Win the game, I will.

    embellishment

Great point! We are analyzing three plays in a SIXTY minute game. How many times did the Red Wings get hit and didn't dive?

    Ken Holland Was SMART!

I think he is smart but it maybe that he and Babcock decided that they had no further needs to fill after the signing of Stuart. However, you generally do not want to have 5 million in cap room after the trading deadline as it becomes wasted cash. 5 million in unused money will not score goals, provide good defense, or hard checks at the blue line.

    Pavel Datsyuk

I think the god reference is thrown around too much. I would say he is a beast!!!

    2007/08 Mark Messier Leadership Award

If we had it our way every trophy would be named after a Wings player. The Hasek Trophy (Formerly Vezina) The Howe Trophy (Formerly Hart) The Pavel Datsyuk Trophy (Formerly Lady Bing) The Steven Yzerman Trophy (Formerly Conn Smythe) The list goes on...

    Osgood Is a Diver

LOL! They ARE complaining about obstruction?!?!? If the obstruction penalty is called then that favors the RED WINGS!!! Also, if they only had played against New Jersey in 95 then they would know a team well prepared at obstructing.

    Osgood Is a Diver

The first hit while Osgood was in the crease wasn't a dive. The second behind the net was clearly embellishment but one angle did show the Pittburgh player sticking out his elbow. It's not like Pittburgh did not attempt to hit Osgood. If I were him I would fall too just to make sure the officials seen it.

SCF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 3, Penguins 0

So what happened to aflac? Is he ok? Was he just preoccupied before the game and therefore could not create the thread?

    Mark Messier

Guys, I wouldn't be too hard on Jones and Engblom. What do you expect them to say? "Don't even watch games 3 & 4, Detroit has this one in a cake walk." They have to think about ratings along side of giving a commentary.

    Joe Vision

They will probably have it especially with the possibility that Detroit could win the cup on the road.

    Brad Stuart Appreciation Thread

I remember Drew Sharp bagging on Kenny Holland for "only" being able to pickup Stuart at the trading deadline. Anyone think Mr. Sharp will eat some crow?

O'Hallaran - Default call is 'interference'?

There are hundreds; I repeat, HUNDREDS of goals scored each year where the goalies pad gets whacked. Holmstrom barely touched Fluery's pad. Basically, what people are saying is that if a rebound is produced in front of the goalie then you are not allowed to whack at the puck because you may hit the goalie's pads. If the league keeps this up and no one is even allowed to be outside of the crease near the net then look forward to infinite low scoring hockey games.

    Scotty Bowman

1998 Stanley Cup note: Detroit had 55 names engraved on the Stanley Cup. All 29 Non-players got their full first and last name on the Stanley Cup, without any positions. The 26 players were engraved by first intital and full last name. The bottom line is blank and could include more names. The NHL decided to limit the number of names to 52, because too many names were being engraved on it. Any person who played at least 40 regular season games for winning team (and with the team after the trading deadline), or played in the Stanley Cup Finals must be included. Teams may include other players, or non-playing members on the cup as well. There is no rule for which non-playing members are to be included on the Stanley Cup each year. --- So if the Red Wings organization wants Bowman's name on the cup then it will be there.

    Babock's interview

I was unable to hear Babcock's epic post game interview. Will someone be so kind as to post a link to it?

Great stuff. Forgive my misspelling of Babcock's name on the thread heading. I don't think I can correct it with the edit feature.

SCF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 4, Penguins 0

Are we surprised? This is the third series in a row were we have faced a "hot" goalie. We know how the other two series worked out.
