As much as we all wish we could turn our coal into diamonds, it just isn't going to happen. I have said it before and Ill continue to say it. The way you get impact players is to poach them off of a struggling team my giving them prospects and picks for their rebuild. The players we should be talking about are not Parise (If the Devils are in a playoff hunt why on earth would they move him). The players we should be looking at are Iginla, Spezza, Carter, Doan, and other other decent player on a bad team. Holland has already stated in interviews that the 1st round pick is basically on the table and that we have one of the deepest prospect pools that we have had in a long time. If we want to get an impact player on our roster we will have to pay for him. One of Jarnkrok, Nyquist, Pulkkinen, Tatar, Jurco, or one of our other "high potential forwards". This team would not gain much by moving one of our top 6 forwards (filppula, franzen) for another top 6 forward. We need 5-6 top 6 forwards not the 4 we have. When your a contender your move prospects and picks to get deeper. When your a rebuilding team you sell your impact players for picks and prospects.

Yes the out shoot, and score 1 goal. You can't expect Howard to give up less then 2 goals everynight. The guy already has 3 shutouts. Our problem is our offense, not our defense. When you don't score on your chances and then they take the lead. You have to open up even more and that leads to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th goal. Howard is far from the problem... Look at two of the highest paid players on our roster and you will see where the problems is. We win when our secondary scoring is going because they are the only ones putting it in the net. Our top offensive players have failed so far this season on putting the puck in the net. That needs to change!

I'm giving up on this game and I rarely do that, I can't describe how much a come back on the Sharks would mean to this team. Thats such a farfetched idea that I rather go to bed then think it can happen. I rarely call for a trade but too many guys on this team are doing the same thing, and that is nothing. Remember the Days when Zetterberg and Cleary could score, man I miss em.
-
Wow, its amazing what happens when our secondary scoring isn't especially with no first line. Once again, our BACK CHECK is GOD AWEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
We are shooting our self in the foot again. The Shortie goal was horrible, the 3 on 1 Goal was horrible, and the 3rd goal was them running circles around us in our own zone. Just plain bad hockey. Our only goal this game was a pinball goal that Kronwall shanked the shot on somewhat and Boyle punched in.
-
The problem with this team isn't the 3, its the 1. We once again have now played 5 periods and only scored 1 goal, that is not acceptable. Our D is running around, and our Offense is either Red hot or Ice Cold. Welcome back the Ice Cold stage.

Bring an almost ready NHL D Man in and sit Kindl who is already a Young NHL D man or Ericsson who is also a sorta young D man??? Or Sit Smith, hell of a lot of experience he will get in the pressbox... He is in the AHL because thats where he gets the ice time, on a healthy roster he doesn't slot anywhere before Lids, White, Kronwall, Smith and maybe E and Kindl, but they dont want him on the bottom 6. He is up right now to finish his suspension and he is staying with the team since we don't have a healthy 7 and can replace a top 4 guy and leave Kindl and E on the bottom paring.

Update: Kronwall leaves on stretcher according to Versus haha Nice work Versus way to stay on top of things! lol

I will first will say I never said it was intent to injure all I did was ask the question. I will openly say I don't think he went to Injure Miller, but was his intent to take Miller (a non eligible player to be hit) out of the play with a hit, yes for sure. I understand what your saying about goalies behind the net. My biggest thing with that is I feel if a goalie is putting there body in between the opposing player and the puck then yes there is a good chance he is going to get hit cause he is using his body to shield the puck. This play had no where near the same situation. Miller skated out to the puck and dumbed it away. Never used his body to shield the puck and got rid of the puck right away. I will disagree with one thing, bracing your self for contact and making a hit are two different things. If Lucic braced him self for contact and incidental collision that couldn't be avoided and he protected him self to avoid injury because of the collision with Miller thats one thing. Its the fact that he did what he could to flatten him. He never tried avoiding him, didn't try to protect him self or Miller. He went for the hit and thats clear as day. You don't consider it protecting your self for an "incidental" collision by turning it into a hit to plow over the other player in a vulnerable position. Once again I never said it was intent to injure but I will say that there was definitely intent to hit a player that wasn't eligible to be hit and he was hurt because of it. I asked the question if it isn't labeled under "Intent to injure" then what is it. Charging yes thats what it was called, but charging a player with out the puck, especially one that can not be hit. My problem with the play is the point of hitting is to separate the player and the puck, and erase him from the play (basically legalizing a hit a second or two after release of the puck). The problem with this play is Miller did not have the puck and he isn't Legally allowed to be hit. So looking at the intent rule, what other Intent could Lucic have besides getting a shot in on Miller. He had his chance to get a blow in on Miller and took it. So what other intent could he have besides the Intent to take a run at a player that isn't even legal to hit? I like a good debate Shoreline so hope this doesn't come off snarky or anything like that...
-
Okay, if everyone is saying it wasn't intent to injure, then what was it??? He clearly wasn't tryIng to separate the man from the puck (it was already gone), you don't protect your self by throwing all 240 so lbs at Miller when the picks heading to the corner. Then follow through with ur hands. I won't even point out the fact he was laughing about it. Fact is Lucic tried to hit a player, that legally isnt allowed to be hit, and didn't have the puck, while receiving a charging penalty. Its either that or he was trying to avoid hitting him all together and 200+ lucic was trying to protect him self from a goalie who was standing still and defensiveness??? Lucic saw his chance to take a shot at Miller and he did. This isn't whether u feel like goalies should be fair game outside the crease because that isn't in the rules. He CAN'T be hit. This is also why I had a problem with no call on Thomad for flattening Sedin in the crease. The goalies aren't allowed to be hot, they shouldn't be able to hit back. If thst is legal Hasek flipping Gabby is legal, atleast Hasek attempted at the puck. These are NHL players they know what they are doing he ran over miller with no other intent but to take him out. If you disagree please explain to me your side and don't just neg me, id love to hear u out...

No suspension... http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=601357 I love the headline the best.... "Shanahan cites lack of intent in not suspending Lucic" wtf lol
-
Just a stupid stupid play by Lucic, and I for one hope some one on Buffalo finds the balls to take him next time they play. As for people saying that miller trying to slash him in the head??? Comparing it to Mcsorley??? That's a joke in its self. He took a one handed half ass swipe at Lucics legs, and people are saying that is disgusting. Stuff like that happens 20x a game behind the play. As for Miller speaking his mind, I'm glad he did. I understand why some are of you are calling it fair game but the rules are the rules. If you make it open season on goalies half the starters would be hurt in the first two months. The are protected for a reason. Players wouldnt hit a goalie to knock him off the puck, which a lot of the hits in the NHL are. They would hit the goalie to get him out of the game. To hurt him to get the back up in.

The logic: If your going to jump a guy, don't be a ***** and wear a visor that can cut up a guys hand in the process... lol

somebody needs to pull up the DVR, that def. didnt look good hopefully its not a real injury... edit... he is back... THANK YOU... whew
-
please tell me that was my imagination of Datsyuk limping behind the Net, anybody have DVR??
-
I already mailed in my ballots for Crosby and Staal, both have had a great jump this season. The things they are doing is this league are bar none. I have seem some of the video clips of Crosby at practice, wow I don't even understand why he is on the ballot figured he would already be the captain. Sigh.

Im hoping 7-3 or atleast 6-3-1 I want us to come away with atleast 13-14 points of the 20... We will be sitting a lot better in the standings and have a lot of confidence for December.

Soooo in your NHL 12 world Franzen = Parise and a 1st or 2nd? And or Franzen + Eaves/ Emmerton = Parise, Clarkson and a 1st... Go punch that into NHL and I bet your PS3 even laughs at you. I'm sorry to come off like a Dick but being frustrated about all of this bad hockey I have been watching Plus the idea of us landing Parise or Nash for the guys we all want to get rid off isn't going to happen (sorry in picking on you, your not the only one) In real life Franzen, Filppula and a pick/ prospect wouldn't land Parise or Nash then are bonafide stars in this league. Franzen is looking like a flash in the pan (currently), Filppula a career underachiever and a 24-30th overal pick...? To get an elite player you have to deal good prospects and a meangiful player to a team not trying to win. A team with a win now mentality has to overpay in prospects to the win later/rebuilding team. That is usually how it works. The problem with that, teams don't know where they will be for another 20 or so games... Iginla is probably one of the few guys I would even consider for a possibility with Calgary getting worse and that would cost us Filppula/ Franzen plus picks and prospects and I'm talking a jarnkrok, Jurco, pulkkinen type not Johan Ryno...
-
If you were the GM of CBJ and Nash has already stated he wants to be there, would you make that trade. I understand if it's sarcasm and I mistook it but to get Nash you MIGHT be able to land him with Franzen, Filppula a 1st and a prospect.... And I still don't think so...

I'm not going to lie, when we started the season 5-0 I thought there was no chance in hell we would sniff a .500 record all season, boy was I wrong. I didn't get to watch the game but when I saw the Nyquist-Franzen-bertuzzi line I cringed. I don't know how they played buy I don't ever see that line working well maybe when Nyquist has experienced but to have a rookie finding his way with two guys not known to hustle??? Really? We need to start sitting guys down, bertuzzi, cleary, and Hudler. I understand why Franzen is at center, but I hate it. I don't know what to do with these lines until a player or two steps up, so I won't even bother. When Zetterberg (whose supposed to be our next captain) isn't leading the team and throwing them on his back, who needs to. Your grit and depth forwards which currently consist of Hudler, Cleary, Holmstrom, Bertuzzi. They don't have any explosive traits to them at all... Cleary in flashes but that's about it. You need your guys who are going to throw the big hits, grind the hell out of the other team, and yes take runs at guys (clean runs) but FFS let em know there in a damn hockey game not a public skate. This team needs to grow a spine and get a chip in their shoulder. Especially our bottom 6. Top 6 should be finesse, bottom 6 grind em down. Like Malts, Drapes, and Mac did back in the day. The offense came to them because they forced the other team to make mistakes. Okay I'm done ranting, just frustrated. I was on a huge high after 5 games, 5 games later in worrying. I know it's early but I bet you NO ONE thought we would b right here after the start we had. /end rant
-
This was my only other thinking, maybe they wanted to light a spark under the guys, and pull up a young kid with some energy, and hopefully that pushes the guys.
-
Yea, but why risk losing him unless we plan on pulling someone else up full time until her earns a spot, like Connor or someone. Otherwise I don't understand why we would only leave 1 extra forward?
-
TRADE? lol JK JK Is rather weird I'm assuming they needed to clear a spot for Commie but I didn't think that was the case earlier. I thought we only had to get rid of one to clear a space for Mursak? crash
