The most amount of points the Flames can finish with is 97 Points.... that would be winning the rest of the way out. Detroit needs at least 98 points because if we tie Calgary in points they take the tiebreaker because of wins.... so right now and SDavis has said 3 wins plus a point in an overtime loss or shootout loss would guarantee us the 8th seed... so I guess the magic number would be 98 points.... or 3-1/2 wins? lol

I will say this... I know they are trying to make this a big money ploy and all that jazz... but they sure as hell are doing one thing.... They are pissing off a large amount of regular and die hard fans of the NHL is a off chance they might pull in a couple more casual fans to root for the Penguins.... These teams are already so well known through out there area the draw on a casual fan is so small because they already know about the sport and the game and the rivalary... If you want to go after fans go after a market with young stars and promote the young stars in other areas... the Parise's the Duchene's, the Stamkos's no the guy that is on every commercial, every poster, and some how is talked about on every national broadcast game even if he is not even playing in the game...

true, but they did talk about it on NHL live the other day... Which would be a place they would want to keep it under wraps that most on.... For NHL live to bring it up to a guest on the show there has to be some truth to it...

Probably not..... Would we realize it's unfair... Yes would teams around te league hate it as much as they are going to hate hearing Crosby over and over again no.... Face it the Pens are one of the most hated teams in the league... And it's not because of how they play or how good they are... It's the fact they are shoved down every fans throat... You can't watch one single national broadcast with out Crosby being mentioned or shown.... And as for everytean getting it's shot... Yes right now a Nashville winter classic sounds pretty lame.... But who knows in 5-10 years.... I know pre Crosby and ovechkin that if the wanted a caps vs pens winter classic every one would yawn..... Teams change drasticly.... I still think that you have to promote your countries best if you want to win over the American fans but they just screwed the devils and rangers on that one..... Heck I wouldn't have even minded if they had buffalo again.... Because of Miller... Promote the guys that won us the silver not the guy that stole our gold...

your telling me that putting a minnasota vs Colorado game in minny wouldn't draw attention... This is all just to say crosby's name a few 100 more times on a national broadcast and have commercials with him... Bettman just wants to fill his pocket before his tenure as the GM of the NHL runs out cause there is no way he is staying... Added: I also want to say the winter classic is not just a money scheme... It is to help to get the league exposure and the teams exposure.... They just screwed that by adding a team that was already there and already has a big fan base.... They are trying to promote hockey in te United States (this is why they won't allow Canadian teams) and this is the perfect time to display your american team USA talent by having a guy like Parise in the winter classic... But once again bettman drops the ball.... If you want to promote this sport to the United states... Stop shovig the kid that stole our gold medal down our throat...

there are other teams in the NHL and other fans... How is it fair for a team like the Penguins to have the spot light this draws on your team and revenue.... Twice before 20+ other teams get a shot... what about teams like the Rangers, Devils, Minnasota, Colorado.... there are other teams that really could use the TV time...

oh yea.... when i first started these... we had to win like 17 games out of 17 lol... now we have to win 3 of 7 lol... big difference.. and that could drop even more with Calgary and Washington facing off tom.

I have them right now calculated at nine... do to the fact that if we only won 4 games and ended up with the 8 points there is still that chance that Calgary would beat us in a tie breaker cause of wins.... (they would have to win out to have the full 97 points). 5 wins and we are guaranteed the 8th seed.... or 9 points....

you guys have to admit.... although we all rather the wings be atop their division and all but guaranteed a playoff spot but. Being in the situation we are in... this is rather exciting.... its playoff hockey a month ahead of time.... and I am really enjoying it for what its worth lol
