The Pens cannot afford all their players this year and a guy who can take several pucks to the head, score 20+ goals a year to me is the kind of guy who would look great in a Wings uniform. The local news in Saskatoon Saskatchewan is reporting that Babcock is going to bring the come back home sometime during the summer. Although he spends a lot of time at Emma lake (Northern Saskatchewan) so I suspect that is where he will take it.

I am in the same boat as I stress about selecting a new jersey. I am thinking about going with Lidstrom but that is only because my last jersey was Stevie and it seems fitting to go from one great leader to the next.

Thank-you for posting a link to his ESPN video. I was looking forward to his thoughts. Anyone who thinks he was knocking Detroit or saying anything bat is a fool. He said he picked us to win a long time ago, and he thinks we can repeat next year. He also admitted to liking the big bruising style of the ducks more then our style but he loves the talent of Z and Dats. He likes the hitting more then the skill, he has always been like that, but at least he knows skill and appreciates it when he sees it. He had a lot of great things to say about our team. As for the European comments, well he loves Canada and he should since he is Canadian. I do not think he should have to appologise for loving his country. Sure he goes further with it then most should but he has fun playing off the non-Canadian players suck thing. Come on we all know a great hockey player is great no matter where he comes from. But Don is Canadian and should never have to appologise for loving Canada and their players more then other's. Just my two cents!!

I mean no disrespect or offense to Lilja or Lebda but it is time for one of them to sit and put Cheli into the line-up. Unlike the other threads that have emerged I am not going to hate on any players. I love our team and I think we have what it takes to win. So lets focus on the positive reason for putting Chelios into the line-up: 1. Roberts is having his way with our players. From the first line through to the goalie, Roberts is beating down on our boys in a way that only so few can without either getting into trouble or getting off his own game. 2. Chelios is nearing the end of his career. His mins are down and he is being replaced by the youngsters, putting him in now should ignite a fire in him to perform. Last chance for him and he would not want to let himself down. I watched the crap Roberts pulled the last two games and he gets away with a lot, while also causing our boys to either mess up (looking over our shoulders) or get off their games. No one on our team can compete with that.. oh except the original rat Chris Chelios. I dearly want Babs to put him in the line-up to stir up some trouble and show the other Wings how to get in the Pens faces. Anyone else feeling this way? (Just to reiterate I would chose to sit either Lilja or Lebda not due to their performance but rather due to their slot in the pecking order. Please do not put them or any of our players down in this thread, we are in the finals and ahead 2 games to 1. We got hear because of guys like Lilja and Lebda, it takes a team to win and we cannot start hating them all just due to one loss)

You are assuming Maltby does not retire after these finals.... It is just a gut feeling but I think he may.

When I watched the play I immediately thought he hurt his groin. The way he went down and extended his legs in such an odd way I wonder if that is the "lower body injury"

AM 990 The Team out of Montreal just announced during their sports update that Cheli is being considered as a replacement for Lilja (I think it was Lilja). Although they also said Holmstrum is listed day-2-day... so good neas bad bad bad news.

I enjoy watching the post game press conferences and interviews so over my lunch break at work today I took some time to watch them all. Best moment by far was when Holmstrom is asked by a reporter : Reporter: How difficult is it to back check and defend against Crosby's line? Holmstroms' reply: Who??? You can hear the media people laughing. Holmstrom didn't laugh, he honestly did not hear the question but the fact that it was Crosby makes it so awesome! I love these forums but there are always two topics that come up far too often, and both at totally wrong: 1. We lost one game so we should trade player X because it is all his fault (So much drama from hockey fans, calm down a little) 2. Don Cherry is a XXX, because he said something stupid! This topic falls under category #2. Don Cherry is a very smart hockey analyst and despite his gruff and abrasive methods of stating facts he is usually correct. However on these forums people seem to hear what Don says differently then what was actually spoken. Don never called anyone on Detroit a wuss or a pansy or anything. He simply stated that someone should have went after Roberts for the cheap shot on Franzen. I agree with him, but only to a point. Roberts threw a fist to the head of the Mule, and it was a difficult play to see. I am sure it hurt the Mule but he took a few seconds to react. This drew the penalty, and once the refs hand goes up there is no point in taking revenge on Roberts, at that point. Take his number and get him later (like when you are up 3 - 0). I think if Mule went down right away and the refs hand did not go up then someone would have went after Roberts. Also Don Cherry does not hate European players. He loves tough, gritty players and until recently most players who play that style were Canadian. Detroit's team is showing that European players can play the gritty game also, and Don is happy to see that. He loves the grit regardless of the source. Remember folks there is a good reason Lidstrom will be the first European born player to captain a team to the cup, grit and toughness wins cups and our boys have it. Stop jumping to conclusions, listen to what Cherry has to say and do not overreact to his words. He enjoys the Wings as much as anyone and if we keep going with this whiny reaction to his comments, we are going to look like Montreal fans. Montreal vs Boston first round the Montreal press and fans complained in the papers and to the CBC that Don Cherry was cheering for Boston instead of for the Habs. Boo-freaking-hoo, Cherry can cheer for whomever he wants, especially when the team happens to be the one he coached for several years. Suck it up people, not everyone will cheer for our team 100% of the time.

No one has mentioned yet that our second line is almost as good as our first in our own end. That is if Franzen can come back he is plays a great defensive game enough that he gets regular shifts on the penalty kill. A second line with Franzen healthy would give a strong offensive push to compete with Malkin's line while being able to shut down the pens offense.

One thing we owe the Calgary fans from last year is that they got us started on this whole Photoshop war thing. Now it is one of the LetsGoWings traditions for the playoffs. These wars are classic in only their second year, I love it!!

These playoffs are going great for our boys right now, our offense is scoring, our defense is on the puck. If only we had a halfway decent goalie.... I hate how no matter what we do TSN and all the analysts never give Osgood the respect he deserves. He has come a long way to get to this point and as much as I feel bad for Hasek I would love to see Osgood lead us to another cup. Osgood may have the best defense in front of him but he deserves respect since he is one of the top goalies in the NHL, just look at his playoff stats! Of course McCarty called it a draw, he is a crafty old(er) vet who does not need to talk big to get by. Frankly he was giving the younger kid a chance to proove himself and drop the mitts. He is not going to brag about winning a fight when that kid still stood in there and held his own. Hockey players are not very good at boasting, that is the fans job! By the way watch the video Mac lands 7-10 hits.. count them (hard to get an exact number since the camera does notshow all angles).

You are totally right man! Like just last night I got in a fight outside the bar and I got the first hit but then he beat me mercilessly with 10 or 15 hits while I couldn't land a single one. But don't worry I still won because after the beating he gave me he was so tired I just leaned into him a little and landed a half ass shot in the back as he fell down. Then all my friends pulled me off him which I think they did to save him some face. I mean I just pushed him down! Sure I have a broken nose, missing a few teeth, but at least he didn't knock me over! Back to reality, D-Mac landed like 10 punches to McCormick's 2 (one was in the back and lame). Who cares who fell down on top of the other guy, D-Mac landed the most blows and won that fight.

Poor Ozzie though, he played great in todays game stopping 20 shots for the shutout, and was not awarded a three star selection. Then the analysts talk about how he did not have a very hard game. Kipper from Calgary gets a shutout with 21 saves and is given the first star and they all talk about how hard of a game he had. Well Ozzie played great, and had his share of tough saves to make. Go Ozzie Go!!
