Well I hate bagging on the team so I am going to cheer on the positives. I loved the way Osgood played tonight. Lets start a thread to talk about how awesome he has been for our organization this year, and his whole career. He is a great goalie and awesome player. <Lets not discuss who is starting next game or any of that, go to another thread for Hasek bashing this thread is for praise of Osgood only!>

That is awesome, I still have my way too small wings jersey from 20 years ago, it is now my wifes jersey. I make her wear it during really important games. By the way Osgood had a 1.00 save percentage today. That is difficult for a starting goalie, but sometimes even harder for a cold goalie to enter a game and play that well. I am impressed. Also how much does Osgood love the wings, our boys got beat out of the playoffs with him in net back in 96 and he is so broken up with feelings that he let the team down that he breaks down and cries in the dressing room. He is a true and red wing for life!

I agree with most here, I thought what Avery did was very original, and funny. However it was also stupid, and pointless. A good hard shot from the point (happens often on power plays) will hit him in the back of the kne or middle of the back, break some bones and put him out of commission. Wow good move to help your team dumbass! Also it is an unsportsmanlike play, same as calling someone a racist term. I fully agree with Ron Mcclean on CBC in saying that a 10 min misconduct should have been called. I also think that when the ref came over to say something to him he was warning him to knock it off or a penalty would be called. It is a funny play, good idea to do once (until you get a warning) just to piss off the goalie, but never again. A 10 min penalty is not worth it. The ref did the right thing and I think the league will put the players on notice for this behaviour and it will not happen again (or not for a little while), next one will only get a quick warning then penalty. Lets hope no one off the wings pulls this stupid stunt, we do not want our guys getting hurt by a puck in the back.

You knew McCarty was going to come back way at the begining of the season! Amazing, D-Mac himself did not even know he was going to play any hockey until mid November when Drapper and him were speaking. Your ability to predict the future makes you a physic.... (j/k)

For me the best part of the goal is the ice time stat for D-Mac. If you look at the boxscore on tsn.com just go to http://tsn.ca/nhl/scores/boxscore/?id=2008041205 it lists d-mac as only getting 8 shifts and a total time on ice of 4:57! He managed to score a goal, get some hits in, motivate the croud, and make us all so proud all in less then five mins. What a champ!

Wow was I pissed today, I get home put supper on and sit back to watch the hockey game only to find out that TSN decided that the Masters golf was more important than the fricking NHL playoffs!! This is the first freaking round of the masters, who cares about the last hour and a bit I pay for TSN to watch hockey not slow calm golf. Wow I need to find their complaints department ad direct my anger! Anyone else have the same problem??
-
They did it again today! Only this time on the alternate feed they had scheduled the NJ/NYR game. Since they could not interrupt fricking golf they did not show the second hockey game and instead opted for golf on primary feed and washington / philly game on the alternate feed. These guys are completely stupid and wasting our time with the early rounds of the masters taking prescendence over the NHL playoffs. If a Canadian TV chanel cannot figure out how to show hockey no wonder the American channels choose not to show the NHL (as much as inthe past) Well I have complaints about the CBC at least they show the games they claim to when they claim to.... I now lov the CBC!! lol
-
I am with everyone here in saying that golf should have been moved to the alternate channel. NHL Playoffs (regardless of the team) is far more important than the stupid first round of golf. I also sent them an e-mail thanking them for their crappy programming. Buggers. Even if it is shown on the alternate TSN feed they should have a scrolling bar at the bottom of the screen during golf that informs viewers of this programming change. How stupid that you have to check the web-site for changes like this.
-
Boy is my face red, I did not even know there was an alternate TSN feed, I should have checked it. Oh well now I know for next time. Although they sould know better, the Wings should be on the Main TSN feed and switch the stupid boring golf to the alternate feed.

Just sitting at work wasting the day away and trying to find a good sports radio station, meaning I want something with analysis, talk, interviews, etc. I found 97.1 The Ticket out of Detroit: http://www.wxyt.com/ and it seems decent but I only care about hockey. (Right now) What do you guys recommend?
-
I found that my local AM talk radio records their nightly sports show and makes them available via on demand online. http://ondemand.rawlco.com/shows/drew-remenda/home I am going to give last nights episode a go.. smile.gif

Well for this morning they are not doing so well for me... they have only discussed football, baseball and 95% of the time this morning has been about some new law for new drivers... lol
-
I am in Canada so I guess 1130 is out.. I tried the ticket and got sick of them talking about new car drivers and newly proposed laws.. wow that is something I was hoping to hear about on sports radio! So now I am off to try team 990... we shall se how long my attention span can be held..

My initial reaction to the tsn redesign is "I hate this ugly piece of garbage!" However that may be the old complainer inside me who hates change. However I do find the new TSN site difficult to determine where data is located. This one I think is a legitamate complaint. The old format used three background colors to differentiate between sections: Red, Black, & White. The new one only has Black & White. Now I find myself having to search for the information I want for a little longer since it is hard to differentiate between where one section ends and another begins. But I am sure I will get used to it.. They do have to change their favicon though, it is still the red TSN one and now that the site is devoid of red it is a crime that they have left it... lol

Source: http://redwingscorner.blogspot.com/2007/04...f-matchups.html How Detroit players have fared head-to-head in faceoffs against Calgary players over the past two seasons: Datsyuk vs. Conroy 53 percent Langkow 52 percent Yelle 59 percent Lombardi 56 percent Ritchie 50 percent Lang vs Conroy 53 percent Langkow 44 percent Yelle 53 percent Lombardi 56 percent Ritchie 40 percent Draper vs Conroy 64 percent Langkow 60 percent Yelle 44 percent Lombardi 25 percent Ritchie 100 percent Filppula vs Conroy 33 percent Langkow 100 percent Yelle 0 percent Lombardi 80 percent Zetterberg vs Conroy 64 percent Langkow 63 percent Yelle 29 percent Lombardi 50 percent Ritchie 50 percent How much of an influence will these numbers have on the game tonight?
-
How is this "official"??? There is still one game to play for the final few teams....
-
If only this were real we could start a donation collection fund to get a "LetsGoWings" advertisement on the jersey!
-
Great pictures, thank-you so much!
-
If you are going to the game tonight then I beg of you.. please get some pictures of D Mac during warmups and during the game. Then post them here. I do not even think I will get the game where I am and I hate that I would not get to see D Mac's huge smile as the croud cheers him on! So pease get some pics and show them off!

WTF!! How did this thread get 7 pages deep and no one called you out for caling Cleary a dissappointment? Until he came to Detroit he was a waste of talent. But now that he is here our organization taught him work ethic (off the ice), how to keep in shape, what it take to play in the NHL and how to compete. He has now matured into a great gritty player who can really compete. He will be a good player as long as he wants to play. 3 years ago I would have agreed with you though.

NHL.com fixed their error now: http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20072008/GS021053.HTM
-
Could this be an extremely minor injury that the Wings are allowing the cost him a few games just to ensure he is ready for a long playoff run?
-
Just watching SNL and this reminds me of the stupid sketch... ummm I have been a fan since before Jesus walked the earth, and I knew Gordie Howe when he was a Wing. lol Come on who really cares how long someone has been a Wings fan, just that you are, you have good reasons and you love them enough to post on these forums! But I have been a fan since the mid - late 80's lol

Seems to me many of the fans on this forum recall Jonathan Ericsson.. in fact many would love to see him in a full time role at some point in the next couple of seasons. Some perhaps need even a little longer to mature. I hope Ericsson is one.
