Geez...thanks...for RUINING THE ENTIRE WEEKEND! I've just spent the past three days in s***sburgh country interviewing...I thought I just had the miserable taste out of my mouth and then you remind me about that vile, dark event two years ago that has been the recurring topic of conversation with every person I've talked to who discovers I'm a Wings fan. Toast of Hockeytown was fun and well worth the $200 price of admission (most of which is tax-deductible) as always. One funny/sad note. Past couple of years featured a "puck draw" where you could purchase a puck for $50 and one of the 200 sold would allow you to have dinner with Steve Yzerman, Ken Holland, etc. These pucks always sold out pretty quick. Last night they said it was dinner with Chris Chelios and Ken Holland...had trouble selling the last 30 pucks or so. Had a weird hockey-chick-groupie story to match the one from last year. Standing in line, a cutish girl behind me asks anybody in line if they had seen Jiri Hudler. I said I had been talking to him about fifteen seconds before she got in line. She was antse to find him 'cause she wanted to give him her telephone number...not for a relationship but for a one-night stand. "I just want him to fk me!" was her actual comment. Ahhhhhh......it's good to be a pro athlete!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got back from the game. The Flames out-hustled the Wings for 45 of the first 60 minutes, BUT, the Wings were indeed the better puck-handling team, and the Flames took a lot of legitimate penalties to try to slow the Wings down. We were very, Very, VERY lucky to pull this out, of course, but they kind of had the look like they would turn it on whenever they really needed to. I don't think letting it get down to the last 3.2 seconds of the game is a wise endeavour in the future, however. I hope Babcock rips them a new one for the utterly, completely uninspired play they exhibited for 45 minutes. Oh, and Iginla's a crud-ball!

I've got great tickets to this game and going to "Toast of Hockeytown" Monday evening...looks to be a couple of good Red Wings days! ...now if Army would have only beaten those people from south bend!
