I only have one jersey I cant get one before game time either.

2nd PP unit shouldn't set foot on the ice ever again. Williams on the point? This has NEVER worked. Once again, the Wings aren't playing defense. They won't win a game without a strong defensive effort. Garbage hockey.
-
True, and I would do the same. But what I said is what I think is unavoidable when it comes to every hockey team.
-
Wait. So you are upset at the Capitals for playing like an Eastern team, accuse the fans of being bandwagon fans after Ovie shows up, being completely biased in their favor, and think their team is the best? So... why do you like hockey at all?

Does this year prove that hockey doesnt belong in phoenix?
RedLightGoesOn replied to wmubronco420's topic in General
They had fantastic attendance when it was thought they would leave. They sold a s***load of season tickets. Moyes really tanked the team and the market in Phoenix. I do know there are a lot of "out of towners" that live in Phoenix, but they can root for the Yotes when their team doesn't play them. I root for the Yotes when they don't play for the Wings, and I would go to games if I had the money to. Hopefully after this post season's performance and with new owners, they can come up with a better marketing plan. Affordable tickets, student discounts (I wish), nice package deal, etc. They also are located in a s***ty area (Glendale is not the best place for them). Also, not every game is televised on FSN Arizona... this needs to change next season. Don't blame the people for not giving a s*** about hockey when the franchise has not been run correctly for years.... Despite what naysayers may say, hockey is popular in Phoenix. -
I was talking to my dad about this... He and I both mused at how hilarious it would be if we overtook Chicago (although it probably won't happen). I do like how things are going. We can play like absolute crap and still find a way to win. Imagine what happens if we get our old Mojo back (where we don't blow a 4 goal lead)? I really am starting to like Detroit in the playoffs, especially when nobody thought we would have a shot at it.

1. Bettman retires. 2. Hawks get swept in the 1st round. 3. Sharks get swept in the 1st round. 4. Sharks and Hawks play each other, both teams lose in 4 games by some miracle. 5. Pittsburgh gets swept by Washington. 6. After every announcer and analyst says that Detroit will go down in flames in the playoffs, we win it all. 7. Joel Q goes ape s***, beats up a referee. 8. Babcock's death stare actually works. 9. The refs stop disallowing Homer's goals. 10. Kronwall becomes a one man demolition crew again and knocks at least 3 people out. 11. Jimmy Howard joins Patty Wah and Cam Ward as rookies to win it all. 12. Pierre catches a puck to the face, rendering him unable to announce for the entire playoffs.

Hahahaha. I am sure he will realize this was a brilliant idea when the Wings beat the Hawks in the first round.

I think the Wings are out of gas, given the playoff runs the past years and the loss of some of our good depth players. That said, I still miss ZDH and the havoc it would wreak on defenses.

Thanks Matt for getting this forum back to shape.

What a joke. I am not opposed to big, hard hits on open ice, but taking your elbow to a guys head really takes things too far. It's a sport, everyone is competing but that should not allow players to inflict non-legal hits that have a high chance of ending someone's season or career. The NFL has really tightened up on concussions, and other contact sports should too. If Cooke doesn't seem to mind it, let someone take a bat to his head, give him a couple of concussions and see how well he is doing in 20 years.

From what I have heard a lot of the owners are not happy with Bettman because of limited TV coverage. Bettman has to go, yes. The NHL needs to be put on a bunch of cable stations like the NBA and MLB. The NHL needs to market an American player over Crosby. Some NHL teams could use better owners in my opinion. Also, when does the current CBA expire?

I think I heard somewhere whenever Filppula scores a goal the Wings would go to lose the game. EDIT: Not anymore!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOHOOOOO FILPS!
-
Looks like the Wings are doing their thing when it comes to playing with a lead.
-
Great way to find a way to win guys in face of all the bulls***. I got scared but Wings did it!!!! TO THE PLAYOFFS!
-
Both teams got away with a LOT of stuff that should have been called. I do like that the refs let them play, but there were some obvious calls that should have been made just to keep things in check. I don't mind the "let them play" philosophy if both teams get really rough like they did in the game, but if it is completely one sided with "dirty plays"/excessive roughness, then I would like to see some calls. This was probably one of the best games since Game 6 of the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals.

GDT 2010 Olympic Gold Medal Game: Canada 3 vs. USA 2 (OT)
RedLightGoesOn replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in Hall of Fame
God...God Dammit. Next thing you know it will be Crosby son of Zeus... too late? Come to think of it, NHL refs were reffing that game. Coincidence? s***ty that Miller lost, he was a out of this world good. Closest game I have seen in terms of who deserves to win. But in the end, Raffi was up to his usual tricks, giving up goals. f***. God hates Wings fans. -
Amazing game. It made me feel happy to be a Wings fan.... Last again against the Sharks I was cussing up a storm at Buffalo Wild Wings (it was the chicken wings talking) and I felt like poop. Good to finish things on a good note before the break, hopefully the guys can stay healthy for the next couple of weeks so when March 1st rolls around we can start things off right.

If we'll not play better, we'll be out of the playoffs!
RedLightGoesOn replied to Berry's topic in General
As a physicist, I am proud. I don't think it is a bad thing if they don't make it into the playoffs. After two long seasons and this season riddled with injuries, I feel they need a break. Now, I would LOVE to see them make it and win it all, but if they don't I won't cry. Just because this season has been out of character for the Wings doesn't mean next year we can't come back and kick some major ass like we are used to. -
"Gretzky had it, lost it. Yzerman picks it up. Yzerman moving, blue line chance – SCOOOOORES!!!!!! Steve Yzerman!!! Detroit wins!!" Oh yeah baby!
-
No Intelligence? says the man who roots for the Pens. Win it so the tool fans of Pittsburgh can cry with their captain again.

LORD STANLEY WANTS TO RENEW HIS LEASE IN THE D!!!!!!!!!!!!! LETS GO RED WINGS!

The first goal will be a huge factor tomorrow

Obvious thread is obvious. If Hossa scored it, I think that would be even more awesome. -

Well, this is probably one among many. But I'd like to share and see some thoughts before we go into a game that could decide the Stanley Cup Champions. I'd like to take a pulse on how people think this series has evolved and what is in store for Game 6. Bylsma has to be unhappy. It seems no matter how he coaches the Pens, I can see a lot of last years Finals playing a big role in how the Pens play now. I see a lot of piss poor attitude from the Penguins. Talbot said it didnt matter how Pens got beat the point is they lost. I agree a loss is a loss, but thats not the attitude to have going into an elimination game. If they think its just a lost, the Pens are going to struggle a lot. This has to be the biggest rebound a team has had losing Game 4 and winning Game 5 and how they did it too speaks a lot. Wings showed that they are the better team and put themselves in a spot to win. Dats is back in the lineup and man was he fantatic. Think he can break his dry spell? Game 5 was the Wings hitting on all cylinders and the Pens being overwhelmed. Wings are good at closing out series. The Ducks put up a huge fight in Game 6, but I don't think the Pens can muster a defensive wall like the Ducks did. I know every player in the Wings locker room knows that they have to play the best 60 of their careers ever, same with the Pens. Hossa? He has been hunting very hard and has produced for us, just not goals.... Anyone think hes going to silence the Igloo(m)? (sorry Pens fans, I couldn't resist) The MAF has played better as the series went on and Ozzy has gotten worse comments are out the window. Think MAF can regain the confidence or will be shaken? I think if the Wings can get a quick goal to begin with and another one early in the game that hes toast. Will Ozzy keep up the excellent work? How bad do you think the Refs will be? Will they be good and call stuff like they did in Game 5? Will this be the game that Detroit wins in Pittsburgh? I think that after Game 5 its a nice feel good win, but the Wings literally shattered the Pens Game plan and will basically try to find a way to do that in game 6 (obviously). I think its just skating and stick-work. No sloppy passes and being on the ball defensively is whats going to best way to establish control of the game, since afterall, we are a puck-possession team. They know that Game 6 is a different game and Game 5 needs to be put in the rearview mirror, despite the large amounts of success. I think with Dats back that Babcock has a lot of options for lines to combat the lines of the Pens, and that again Dats' play will influence who wins this game. Like every Wing fan, I think that Game 6 is going to be very close but if the Red Wings keep it up and avoid bad penalties, we can celebrate a victory. Oh yeah, PP & PK can't suck. Your thoughts? Pens fans who are constructive are also invited to post, despite some of these questions are directed to Wings fans. What do you guys think about this serie s and Game 5?
