gdt WCSF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 4, (CHI leads series 1-0)
RedLightGoesOn replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
This is true. Right now we have to win playoff games, not educate young players who make very basic, simple mistakes. Ian White can't be this bad, at least I hope not. -

Non-call on Hossa and some bad offsides not being called on the Hawks. This means we are playing playoff hockey. -

That's not a hook on Z in the Chicago zone? Sounds like playoff officiating. -

Bench Smith. He is just a god damn liability. -
WCSF - (6) San Jose Sharks vs. (5) Los Angeles Kings
RedLightGoesOn replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
If Quick continues to dominate the goal crease, LA in 5. If only I could hear Randy Hahn & Drew Remenda crying as the Kings pile-drive the Sharks into the ice. The Sharks a good team, but LA will suffocate them physically and mentally. No way out for the Sharks. Jumbo Joe will be golfing within a week and a half. I hate it, LA scares me the most. I would rather us play the Sharks if we beat Chicago. -
Hossa, Parise, it doesn't matter. Those guys are good, but they want the money. Chicago payed dearly to get Hossa, and let go of some really good players that they miss. I don't think buying players like that wins you a Cup. Detroit is all about players playing Detroit's system and style.... I have doubts about Parise fitting in well here. Hossa was a beast for us during the regular season and no doubt helped us get into the playoffs with home ice advantages. However, come playoffs it is a different story and him showing up in 3 games (He scored in 3 game 4s, IIRC) in our 09 Cup run doesn't spell that large of a difference from Franzen IMO. Ovechkin is/was a threat (playoff choker), but I would not want him on the Wings.

Heading to JLA for the first time ever for Game 3 - few questions
RedLightGoesOn replied to DntDrnkThWtr's topic in General
I would also like to ask a question regarding the JLA. Are there any seats that totally suck at the JLA? How are the seats around/behind the goal? I am looking to score some tickets but don't know what seats are worth dodging. -
Cleary is fading, there is no denying it. He still works hard and battles but he isn't as fast and is racking up the injuries. I like his attitude and work ethic at times, but his mental lapses and confidnece level (at times) can be a real minus. Nobody is going to replace him so we have to live with it for now. If anything he is just a body to get out there while other players get rest (same as Smith). Flip is off his game. Hopefully that goal in Game 7 against the Dicks is the first step in the right direction. However, I keep saying this about Franzen too. There was a time I thought those two guys on a line would mature and be just as unstoppable as the ZDH line (and we did see it). All I can do is just watch the total opposite of that right now.

The Rangers were really struggling in that series, but the Capitals choking as usual really helped them out. King Henrick really showed up and I thought was the best player for the Rangers in the last 2 games. Notice Mike Green in this game. He was aweful defensively. Ovechkin was silent for most of the series. This team has a lot of issues and Adam Oates has a lot of work to do to turn this team around in the playoffs. Too bad they are playing in a real division next year. Boudreau was a big part of the problem, as his job as a coach is to prevent this kind of crap from happening. Boudreau is just a terrible playoff coach. In his post game after losing the series to the Wings he was talking about his thoughts on a LA and Anaheim series. I mean that shows a poor amount of focus and how he already was thinking past the Wings series before he beat us... no wonder the Ducks lost.

WCSF - (1) Chicago Blackhawks vs. (7) Detroit Red Wings
RedLightGoesOn replied to drumnj's topic in General
I will say it like this: Chicago "had our number" by blowing us out once and beating us in OT for the rest of the games. That was then and this is now. Chicago will win in 4-5 games. If they can't make short work of us, they will really risk losing to us. If the Wings have a chance they will battle for it and win it in 7. I am very excited to see who shows up big to play against the Hawks. If we lose it is no sweat off our backs. I just want to see some more awesome playoff hockey. I think Chicago might collapse and fall to us (I say this with more confidence than ever), so I say Wings in 7. -
Well, Ovie can help himself out by having an offensive explosion tomorrow against the Rangers. He did block some shots in Game 6 and did take a high stick in the face and kept skating in Game 3. It is just a shame to see him be lazy.

He had an OT winner and the "breakaway" attempt that lead to Brunner's OT goal. The way those two (Brunner & Nyquist) have played at times reminds me of a young Zetterberg playing with Datsyuk. Brunner was invisible at times, however. In Game 7 Nyquist was having an impact on the ice, he was fast, he skated hard, he looked hungry for a goal. An absolute stud. I am really hoping he and Brunner improve as a line the series goes on against the Hawks, they may make a difference. EDIT: Let me clarify, I mean I like how Brunner and Nyquist play together, and I think they can really develop something special. This reminds me of a young Zetterberg playing with Datsyuk.

Reimer would have a hat trick if he could skate into the offensive zone. He is giving the Bruins nightmares. -

No pressure, just play a full 60 and hold nothing back. This has been such an incredible season for us. There have been many chances for us to fold and quit, but we have refused to give up. If we lose, I won't be very upset. But I want us to win so I can see us play the Hawks when I go to Michigan next week. I would love to go to the Joe for a playoff game. That said. LETS GO RED WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
gdt WCQF Game 6 GDT : Ducks 3 at Red Wings 4 (OT) - (Series Tied 3-3)
RedLightGoesOn replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
The goal bouncing in off of Smith was terrible to see. He has been on the wrong side of too many plays in this series, but that was a bad bounce. I think he should sit for game 7. He clearly struggles and is a huge weak point in our defense. With game 7 being in Anaheim, you can bet they will put out their top line all over him. I don't know how bad White is, but I don't think he is worse than Smith. -
Also, such heart we played with. Especially Z. Great to see that kind of tradition didn't die out with Yzerman and Lidstrom.

I was hoping Bertuzzi would get out on the ice with Getzlaf and fight him. The s*** talking was on tonight. WHAT A HUGE GAME. I am so proud of our team in such a difficult year. Pushing the Ducks to 7 games is not an easy task.
